The weakest link limits (defines) the maximum performance of the chain 最弱的一环决定整个链条的最大强度. The weakest link is the constraint to the system’s performance 最弱的一环就是整个系统能力的约束.
The Theory of Constraints (TOC) was developed by Dr. Eliyahu M. Goldratt, a Jewish Physicist. TOC suggests that: 约束理论是以色列物理学家Goldratt创立的.TOC建议: All systems are similar to chains-or networks of chains 所有系统与链条或网状链条比较相似. Each chain is composed of links which vary in strength and capability 每一个链条由不同强度和产能的链环组成. The Goal 目标
Every system exists for a purpose. The purpose can be considered a goal : the objective or end towards which effort is directed 每一个系统都为了一个目的而存在.这个目的可以被看做目标:目标或最 终走向是一切努力的方向. The first and most important task of anyone who wants to improve a system is to determine or recognise the system’s goal 首先并最重要的任务是如果任何人想提高一个系统,必须决定和认识系统 的目标.

A number of connected or interrelated elements that could be seen as working together for the overall objective of the whole. A system also takes inputs of some kind, acts on them in some way, and produces outputs. These outputs are supposed to have greater value than the sum of the inputs, so the system might be said to add value to the inputs as it turns them into outputs. 一组相互连接的或 有相互关系的元素,可以被看做为了一个共同的目标而工作在一起.系统也可以被看做 输入了一些东西或动作,生产出一些输出,这些输出的价值可以被看做远高于所有输入 的总和.所以系统也可以说是在输入上加入了有价值的东西,然后变成输 出. Net available capacity 净可用产能 = Planned production time – 计划时间内的产能Losses for changeover, maintenance, yield, etc. 换线,维护,品质坏品等造成的损失
The Theory of Constraints approaches improvement at the system level, rather than individual processes or isolated elements of the system约束理论方法提高的是整个系统的水平,不是单独的某一个工序或 系统的独立元素.
