There are some very good things abut open education . This way of teaching allows the students to grow as people , and to develop their own interests
in many subjects . Open education allows students to be responsible for (对……负责) their own education , as they are responsible for what they do in life . Some students do badly in traditional classrooms . The open classroom may allow them to enjoy learning . Some students will be happier in an open education school . They will not have to worry about grades or rules . For students who worry about these things a lot , it is a good idea to be in an open classroom .
But many students will not do well in a open classroom . For some students , there are too few rules . These students will do little in school . They will not make good use of open education . Because open education is so different from traditional education , these students may have a problem of getting used to making so many choices . For many students it is important to have some rules in the classroom . They worry about the rules even when there are no rules . Even a few rules will help this kind of students . The last point about open education is that some traditional teachers do not like it . Many teachers do not believe in open education . Teachers who want to have an open classroom may have many problems at their school .
You now know what open education is . Some of its good points and bad points have been explained . You may have your own opinion about open education . The writer thinks that open education is a good idea , but only in theory . In actual fact , it may not work very well in a real class or school . The writer believes that most students , but of course not all students , want some structure (结构) in their classes . They want and need to have rules . In some cases , they must be made to study some subjects . Many students are pleased to find subjects they have to study interesting . They would not study those subjects if they did not have to .
56.Open education allows the students to .
A.grow as they are educated B.be responsible for their future C.develop their own interests D.discover subjects outside class 57.Some students will do little in an open classroom because . A.there are too few rules

If you travel around the world , you will be surprised to find just how different the foreign customs can be from your own .
A visitor to India would do well to remember that people there consider it impolite to use the left hand for passing food at table . The left hand is supposed to be used for washing yourself . Also in India , you might see a man apparently shaking his head at another and assume that he is disagreeing . But in many parts of India a shake of the head is a gesture that shows agreement
of acceptance . Nodding your head when offered a drink in Bulgaria is likely to leave you thirsty . In that country you shake your head to indicate “yes” —a nod indicates “no”. The Arabs are known for their hospitality . At a meal in countries on the Arabic Peninsula , you will find that any drinking vessel (容器,器皿)is repeatedly refilled as soon as you drink it up .
In Europe it is quite usual to cross your legs when sitting talking to someone , even at an important meeting . Doing this when meeting an important person in Thailand , however , could cause offence . It is too informal an attitude for such an occasion . Also when in Thailand you are not supposed to touch the head of an adult —it’s just not done . In Japan , it is quite usual for men to plan evening entertainments for themselves and leave their wives at home . In Europe such attitudes are disappearing .
Customs vary from country to country . Visitors may be at a loss as to what to do in a foreign environment . In such circumstances , the golden rule to follow is : When in Rome , do as the Romans do .
61.In which country , a left — hand is not welcomed ? . A.Thailand B.India C.Arabic peninsula D.Bulgaria 62.In which country , if someone shakes his head at another , it shows that he agrees or accepts ?
.
A.Bulgaria B.Thailand C.China D.Arabic Peninsula 63.Which of the following is impolite in Europe ? .
A.to cross your legs
B.to touch the head of an adult
C.That men plan evening entertainment and leave their wives at home D.To drain the glass in your hand
64.If you don’t know the cu stoms in the country where you visit , the golden
rule to follow is .
A.to do as the Romans do B.to do nothing
C.to visit Rome only D.to do as the natives do

As far as I know there has never been a rule against pets in a space station . We had never had any pets until Sven Olsen decided he wanted one . None of us ever understood why he chose the pet .
I first saw Claribel when I was working in my office . I heard a sweet whistle (口哨) near my ear and thought it had come over the radio . I waited for the news to follow . Instead , there was a lovely song . I looked up and saw Claribel .
She was a small yellow canary (金丝雀), hanging very still in the air . Her wings were folded quietly at her sides . Before I recovered from the surprise of seeing a canary in our space station , she did a kind of slow tumble (翻滚). No canary on earth could have done it .
In fact , Sven’s pet was everybody’s pet . We had little trouble hiding her when important guests came to visit the space station . We couldn’t be sure if we were breaking any rule having her there . But we liked her very much that we were afraid of losing her .
Claribel always got noisy when we hid her . Sometimes we had to think fast to explain the whistles that came from the strangest places . 65.The passage talks about .
A.the rule that people working in a space station should follow
B.the pet that was fed in a space station
C.the love for the pet people had when working in a space station
D.the space station where people kept a canary
66.The reason why Claribel could do a slow tumble was that .
A.she was small and light —weighted B.she was clever and trained
C.she had no weight in space D.she could fold her wings at her sides 67.Why did they hide the pet sometimes ?
A.Because they liked her very much .
B.Because they wanted others to think they were working hard . C.Because important guests didn’t want to see pets there .
D.Because they were afraid they were breaking some rules .

John H. Johnson was born in a black family in Arkansas City in 1918. His father died in an accident when John was six . He was reaching high school age , but his hometown offered no high school for blacks .
Fortunately (幸运地) he had a strong — willed , caring mother . John remembers that his mother told h im many times , “Son , you can be anything you really want to be if you just believe .” She told him not to be dependent on others , including his mother . “You have to earn success,” said she . “All the people who work hard don’t succeed , but the only pe ople who do succeed are those who work hard .”
These words came from a woman with less than a third —grade education .She worked hard as a cook for two years to save enough money to take her son — then 15—to Chicago .
Chicago in 1933 was not the promised land (乐土) that black southerners were looking for . John’s mother and stepfather could not find work . While others discouraged him , John’s mother offered him more words to live by : “Nothing beats a failure but a try .” She also let him pawn (典当) her furniture to get the $500 he needed to start the Negro magazine .
It is natural the difficulties and failures followed John closely until he became very successful . He always keeps his mother’s words in mind: “Son , failure is not in your vocabulary .” Now John H. Johnson is one of the 400 richest people in America .

Dear Mr Smith ,
I was so pleased to hear from you and am writing to tell you something about my school and school life .
Our school was built in 1990 . There are 48 classes with 3200 students and 280 teachers in it . When entering the school gate , you can see the library with over 200, 000 books . In the science hall , there are many physics and chemical laboratories and four sound labs . The teaching building can hold si xty classes . I’m studying in Class4, Grade 1. The main subjects include Chinese , maths , English physics , chemistry and computer . I like English and computer best and I am very good at them . In my spare time , I enjoy listening to popular music , swimming and skating . I hope you come and visit some day .
Best wishes ,
Wang Hua.。
