我想弘扬中国的传统文化英语作文
I Want to Promote Chinese Traditional Culture
Ever since I was a little kid, I've been fascinated by the rich traditions and culture of China. From the vibrant festivals to the ancient philosophies, there is so much depth and beauty in Chinese culture that I want to absorb and share with the world.
One aspect I really admire is the emphasis on family values and respect for elders. In our culture, grandparents are treated with great reverence and seen as the roots that ground the family tree. I love listening to my grandparents' stories about "the old days" and the traditions they grew up with. It makes me feel connected to something bigger than myself.
The festivals are definitely a highlight and my favorite is Chinese New Year! Who doesn't love getting red envelopes filled with money? But beyond that, I'm amazed by all the customs and their symbolic meanings. Setting off firecrackers to scare away evil spirits, hanging up upside-down fu characters for good luck, eating dumplings at midnight - it's like a bundle of exciting rituals!
I'll never forget the first time I saw a traditional lion dance. The colorful costume, the clashing cymbals, the skilled dancers
moving in perfect unison - it was mesmerizing! My eyes were glued to the prancing lion while it twirled, jumped and "fought" with the folks teasing it. I could feel the energy and historic spirit behind this folk art. No wonder it has been celebrated for centuries!
Speaking of history, I'm constantly in awe of how far back Chinese civilization stretches. My mind boggled when I learned that the Great Wall was first built over 2,500 years ago! How mind-blowing is that? The pyramids in Egypt are considered ancient, but parts of the Great Wall pre-date them by several centuries. It's the longest manmade structure in the world stretching over 13,000 miles. Just visualizing how many bricks went into building it makes my head spin.
And let's not forget about the Four Great Inventions of ancient China - the compass, gunpowder, printing, and papermaking. These brilliant innovations had a massive global impact and influence that is still felt today. Whenever I take out a book or pen to write, I think about how Chinese ancestors created the technology to make that possible. I feel a sense of pride and want to honor their ingenuity.
Food is where my love for Chinese culture really starts sizzling! From succulent Peking duck to flaming Sichuan hot pot,
the flavors and cooking techniques are out of this world. My grandma's homemade dumplings and zongzi are little pillows of heaven. Whenever I go for dim sum with my family, I squeal at the never-ending parade of juicy, savory and sweet delicacies arriving in bamboo baskets. Don't even get me started on the tempting desserts like egg tarts, sesame balls and mango pudding!
Chinese medicine has also piqued my curiosity. All those funny looking roots, herbs, twigs and fungi used for remedies seem like magic potions from Hogwarts! The concepts of
yin-yang balance and qi energy are so unique compared to Western medicine. Who would have thought that rhino horns, deer antlers and gecko lizards could be used for health purposes? It's all very exotic and mystical to me.
Then there are the martial arts which blend fitness, discipline, philosophy and choreographed combat in a beautiful way. I've watched lots of kung fu movies and am in total awe of the gravity-defying kicks and punches. The fight sequences in movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon look like a romantic ballet mixed with action. Movies like these sparked my interest in the deeper principles of martial arts like inner peace, morality and justice over brutality.
To be honest, a big part of my love for Chinese culture also stems from activities like calligraphy, brush painting and playing traditional instruments like the erhu and guzheng. They allow me to tap into my creative side while connecting with the elegant artistry and musical roots of my heritage. Whenever I hear the melancholic yet soulful tones of instruments like the pipa, I picture romantic, poetic scenes from ancient China playing out.
Of course, no discussion about Chinese culture is complete without mentioning the profound wisdom from the philosophical teachings of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. The emphasis on harmony, humility, loyalty and moral ethics has had an enduring influence on Chinese society. My parents are always quoting sayings from wise ancient thinkers like Confucius, Lao Tzu and the Buddha to me about how to live a good life.
Though I may sound like I have a deep, adult-like understanding of my cultural roots, I'm really still just a kid trying to absorb as much as I can. When I see Chinese operas, do Tai Chi with the elderlies in the park, or go to Chinatown over holidays, I'm instinctively drawn to the sights, sounds, smells and shows that give me a taste of old traditions.
As I get older, I hope to delve even deeper into the history, thinking and art forms of my ancestors. By celebrating their
cultures and customs, I can better appreciate where I came from and take pride in the amazing Chinese civilization that has enlightened the world in so many ways. It motivates me to work hard, be a good person and keep our invaluable heritage alive for future generations.
I may be young, but promoting the richness of Chinese culture is something I'm extremely passionate about. It has shaped my identity, values, interests and goals in profound ways.
I want to be an ambassador for the beauty, wisdom and influences of Chinese civilization. By learning, respecting and living out its timeless traditions, I can share its magnificence with others while feeling rooted in its legacy. What better way to honor my ancestors than by ensuring their profound culture continues to enlighten the world?。
