第二节完形填空(共20小题;每小题1。

5分,满分30分)One of the easiest things in the world is to become a fault—finder. However, life can be 31 when you are not busy finding fault with it. Several years ago I 32 a letter from seventeen-year—old Kerry, who described herself as a world—class fault—finder, almost always 33 by things。

People were always doing things that annoyed her,and 34
was ever good enough. She was highly self—critical and also found fault with her friends。

She became a really 35 person. Unfortunately, it took a horrible accident to change her 36 . Her best friend was seriously hurt in a car crash。

What made it almost 37 to deal with was that the day before the 38 , Kerry had visited her friend and had spent the whole time criticizing her 39 of boyfriends, the way she was living, the way she related to her mother, and various other things she felt she needed to 40 . It wasn't until her friend was badly hurt that Kerry became 41 her habit of finding fault。

Very quickly, she learned to appreciate life rather than to 42 everything so harshly ( 刻薄)。

She was able to transfer her new wisdom to other parts of her 43 as well。

Perhaps most of us aren’t as extreme at fault—finding,44 when we're honest,we can be sharply 45 of the world. I’m not suggesting you 46 problems,or that you pretend things are 47 than they are, but simply that you learn to allow things to be as they are—48 most of the time, and especially when it’s not a really big 49 . Train yourself to "bite your tongue”,and with a little 50 ,you’ll get really good at letting things go。

And when you do,you'll get back your enthusiasm and love for life。

第三部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A 、B 、C 和D )中,选出最佳选项,并在题卡上将该项涂黑。

A
When I was nine years old,I loved to go fishing with my dad. But the only thing that wasn't very fun about it was that he could catch many fish while I couldn’t catch anything。

I usually got pretty upset and kept asking him why. He always answered, “Son,if you want to catch a fish, you have to think like a fish.” I remember being even more upset then because, “I’m not a fish!" I didn’t know how to think like a fish. Besides,I reasoned, how could what I think influence what a fish does? As I got a little older I began to understand what my dad really meant. So, I read some books on fish. And I even joined the local fishing club and started attending the monthly meetings。

I learned that a fish is a cold-blooded animal and therefore is very sensitive to water temperature。

That is why fish prefer shallow water to deep water because the former is warmer。

Besides, water is usually warmer in direct sunlight than in the shade。

Yet,fish don't have any eyelids(眼皮)and the sun huts their eyes… The more I understood fish, the more I became effective at finding and catching them.
When I grew up and entered the business world, I remember hearing my first boss say, “We all need to think like sales people。

” But it didn’t completely make sense。

My dad never once said,“If you want to catch a fish you need to think like a fisherman。

” What he said was,“You need to think like a fish.” Years later, with great efforts to promote long—term services to people much older and richer than me,I gradually learned what we all need is to think more like customers. It is not an easy job. I will show you how in the following chapters。

Larry was on another of his underwater expeditions(探险)but this time, it was different。

He decided to take his daughter along with him。

She was only ten years old. This would be her first trip with her father on what he had always been famous for。

Larry first began diving when he was his daughter’s age。

Similarly, his father had taken him along on one of his expeditions。

Since then,he had never looked back。

Larry started out by renting diving suits from the small diving shop just along the shore。

He had hated them。

They were either too big or too small. Then, there was the instructor。

He gave him a short lesson before allowing him into the water with his father。

He had made an exception. Larry would never have been able to go down without at least five hours of theory and another similar number of hours on practical lessons with a guide。

Children his age were not even allowed to dive。

After the first expedition,Larry’s later diving adventures only got better and better。

There was never a dull moment. In his black and blue suit and with an oxygen tank fastened on his back,Larry dived from boats into the middle of the ocean。

Dangerous areas did not prevent him from continuing his search. Sometimes,he was limited to a cage underwater but that did not bother him. At least,he was still able to take photographs of the underwater creatures。

Larry’s first expedition without his father was in the Cayman Islands。

There were numerous diving spots in the area and Larry was determined to visit all of them. Fortunately for him,a man offered to take him around the different spots for free. Larry didn’t even know what the time was,
how many spots he dived into or how many photographs he had taken。

The diving spots afforded such a wide array of fish and sea creatures that Larry saw more than thirty varieties of creatures。

Larry looked at his daughter。

She looked as excited as he had been when he was her age. He hoped she would be able to continue the family tradition。

Already, she looked like she was much braver than Larry had been then。

This was the key to a successful underwater expedition。

58。

In what way was this expedition different for Larry?
A。

His daughter had grown up. B。

He had become a famous diver。

C. His father would dive with him。

You may not have heard of Ashoka, but for the past 27 years, this association, founded by Bill Drayton, has fought poverty and sickness, promoted education and encouraged small businesses. To support these worthy causes,Ashoka provides money for the world’s most promising "changemakers" seeking to solve urgent problems and would like to create a world in which every citizen is a changemaker.
Drayton believes that anyone can become an agent for change。

The important thing is to simply give yourself permission. If you see a problem that you care about, you can help solve it。

The young in particular are willing to accept this concept because at heart every child wants to grow into a happy, healthy, contributing adult。

In fact it is many young people's ambition to set up programmes or businesses that improve social conditions. An excellent example is an Ashoka project started in 1995 in Dhaka, which handled the rubbish problem facing the city, helped local farmers and provided an income for poor people there . When Masqsood and Iftekhar began to study the problem of all the uncollected rubbish that lay in Dhaka’s streets, attracting tats and disease , they discovered that 80%of it was natural waste. So they educated the poor people in the city to compost (把……制成堆粪)this waste 。

They knew that they would have a market for the end product because local farmers were struggling with chemical fertilizers which were
expensive and had reduced the natural minerals in the soil over the years. At first, they were refused, but once they were able to persuade them that there was money to be made ,the project took off. In 2009 sales were $14,000。

Drayton is optimistic that in ten years Ashoka will be making really serious, practical progress in bringing about social change by changing the way we look at economic development.

"
68 Instead, use “I"statements such as “When I go out with my friends, your early curfew (宵禁) makes me feel as if you don't trust me,”or “Sometimes I feel hurt when you don’t give me credit for being responsible。

69 If you're getting a chance to speak what’s on your mind,it’s only fair to give the same opportunity to your parents. If you listen to what they say,you may learn t hat you’ve been mistaking their feelings.
When you’re talking to your parents,if they say something you disagree with, don’t immediately over—react。
