I grew up in a neighborhood that many city kids can only dream of: a quiet street that was our adventure park: a street filled with kids whose parents had to drag us inside for dinner, most of the time long after the sun had retired for the night.
Our street was also a zoo. There were cats, dogs, birds, fish, sheep, rabbits, horses, not to mention all the little things we caught and decided to keep as pets. But these farm animals weren't just farm animals. They were our friends.
Everything was great. I loved my life and never wanted anything to change. Then a day arrived that would ruin everything. The day they said, "We're moving.,, Dad's job had been relocated, and I would soon be leaving everything I had ever known. I cried. "We are going to live near the beach," I kept hearing, but it was no comfort. I hated my parents for doing this to me, for putting an end to the series of colorful adventures. I watched as removal trucks were filled with boxes my life had been shoved (挤)into, but I knew that there was one thing that wouldn't fit into a box. My neighborhood and all the fun and adventure it contained.
I forced myself to dislike our new life and insistently referred to our old house as "home". I would give no one the satisfaction of enjoying our new beachfront lifestyle, not my family, my friends or myself. To admit taking pleasure in the new meant to let go off the old. But once I allowed myself to like the town, I grew to love it and I don't want anything to change. But this time, I know it will. And as scary as that may be, it's okay because exciting adventures can happen anywhere. All I have to do is to let them happen.

Baths and bathing have long been considered of medical importance to man. In Greece there are the ruins of a bathtub and water system built over 3,000 years ago. The Romans had warm public baths. In some as many as 3, 000 persons could bathe at the same time.
Treating disease by bathing has been popular for centuries. Modern medical bathing or hydrotherapy, first became popular in Europe and by the late 1700's also became popular in the United States.

In the United States ordinary bathing was slow to become popular. During the 18th and early 19th centuries, many Americans were known as “The Great Unwashed!?, In one American city, for example, a person could only take a bath every thirty days! That was a law! Frequency of bathing today is partly a matter of habit. People know that bathing for cleanness is important to health. Doctors know that dirty bodies increase the chance of diseases.

2004 World Food PriZe Laureates
Yuan Longping
China
Dr: Monty Jones
Sierra Leone
Scientists from China and Sierra Leone were the winners of 2004's Word Food Prize. The winners were announced at a conference in Washington, D. C. in March, 2004. Professor Yuan Longping and Monty Jones shared the two - hundred - and - fifty - thousand - dollar prize. Both men were being honoured for work they did to improve rice production in developing countries.
Mr. Yuan developed ways to genetically combine different kinds of rice to increase production. He discovered that combining two kinds of rice results in a better, more productive new rice. He established the hybrid rice seed industry in China. He also shared research and helped train scientists from more than twenty -five countries. For his efforts, Mr. Yuan is called "Father of Hybrid Rice".
Following his breakthrough achievement, planting of this new crop has spread so widely,so that now almost half of China's rice production area is planted in hybrid rice with a 20percent higher yield over previous varieties. This translates into food to feed about 60 million more people per year in China alone.
Professor Yuan has shared his knowledge and technology with foreign scientists, providing them with crucial breeding materials for the commercial production of hybrid rice in their respective countries. Farmers in more than ten other countries besides China, including the United States, have thus benefited from his work, gaining access to a technology they may otherwise never have enjoyed.
Monty Jones is being honoured for his part in developing the "New Rice for Africa" or NERICA. He developed NERICA while he was head of the Upland Rice Breeding Program.
NERICA is a combination of Asian and traditional African kinds of rice. It resists (才氐抗)insects and dry conditions and can produce up to fifty percent more rice. It also grows faster and contains more protein than rice native to West Africa. Mr Jones is now a top official of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa in Accra, Ghana.
The two scientists officially received their prize on Octorber 14 in Des Moines, Iowa.Norman Borlaug first developed the idea of a world food prize to honour people who increased food production to help feed the growing word population. Mr Borlaug won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for his work in food production.
Iowa businessman John Ruan provides the money for the World Food Prize. He began his support in 1990. The Word Food Prize Foundation has given the prize every year since 1987.

There are some advantages for high school students to work part time in holidays. Firstly, they can make some pocket money to buy what they want and thus develop a sense of independence. Secondly, they can make new friends and learn to solve all kinds of problems themselves to improve their social skills.
However, some disadvantages are still existing. The students may not have enough time to rest. Meanwhile, they might spend less time on their school work so they could fall behind their classmates. Besides, their parents will often worry about their safety when they work with strangers alone.。
