(一)情态动词的用法
表示可能、怀疑、需要、允诺、意愿、义务、猜测等的动词叫情态动词。

情态动词有一定的词义，表示说话人的看法和态度，要和不带to的动词不定式(ought，have等除外)一起构成谓语，无人称和数的变化。

常用的情态动词主要有：can，could，would, should，may，must，might等。

考点一：情态动词may/might
表示许可或征询对方许可。

eg：You may go now. 现在你可以走了。

May I watch TV after supper? 晚饭后我可以看电视吗？
He said that I might use the telephone. 他说我可以用电话。

注意：征询许可时，might比may更委婉、客气。

肯定回答常用“Yes，of course.”；否定回答常用
“No，you mustn't.”。

eg：Might I have a word with you，please?
请问，我可以和你谈一谈吗？
—May I take the book out of the reading room？
我可以将这本书带出阅览室吗？
—Y es，of course./No，you mustn't.
是的，当然可以。

/不，你不能。

表可能性，有“或许、可能”之意。

此时might与may可以换用，但might表示更加微弱的可能性和比较没有把握的推测。

eg：He may/might be Japanese. 他可能是日本人。

They may/might have a lot of work to do. 他们可能有许多工作要做。

Peter may come with us tonight，but he isn't very sure yet.
彼得今晚可能和我们一起来，但他还不太确定。

注意：may表可能性时一般不用于疑问句，在疑问
句中通常用can或者be likely to结构。

eg：Can it be true？这可能是真的吗？
Is it likely to rain tonight？今晚会下雨吗？
—Have you decided which senior high school to choose?
—Not yet. I________ go to Moonlight School.

考点二：表示推测时，肯定句中用must，could，may, might；否定句中用can't或couldn't，may not或might not；疑问句中用can或could。

情态动词must，can，could，may，might表示推测时，must表示的可能性程度最大，表示“一定”。

can，could，may，might都表示“可能”，其中might表示的可能性程度最小。

可能性程度从大到小排列为
must → can→ could→ may → might。

will和would表示请求和建议
will和would用于第二人称疑问句，表示请求和建议，would比will委婉、客气。

固定句型：Will/Would you please...？
请你……好吗？
eg：Will/Would you please pass me the mobile phone？
请你把手机递给我好吗？

情态动词的用法歌诀
情态动词两要点：动词原形跟后面，说话语气较委婉。

can表“能力”，may“许可”，must“责任”或“义务”。

should“应该”，would“愿”，have to“不得不”表客观。

(二)形容词的比较级和最高级
英语中的形容词有原级、比较级和最高级三种形式。

表示“比……更……一些”的概念时，用比较级；表示“最……”的概念时，用最高级。

You are doing great！I've never had________answer before.

Of all the subjects，chemistry seems to be ________for me.

考点一：形容词的比较级和最高级的构成
规则变化
部分双音节形容词和多音节形容词，构成比较级和最高级时分别在该词前面加more，most。

beautiful—more beautiful, most beautiful
careful—more careful，most careful
dangerous—more dangerous，most dangerous
Breakfast is ________ meal of the day. It provides us with energy after a long night without food.

不规则变化：
To live a green life，we should try to save ________energy and produce ________ pollution.

考点二：形容词的比较级和最高级的用法
A＋is/are＋形容词的比较级＋than ＋B；
A＋is/are＋the＋形容词的最高级＋of.../in...
eg：Susan is happier than Jane. 苏珊比简开心。

Susan is the happiest of all. 苏珊是最开心的。

形容词的比较级前还可以用much, even, still, a little, far, a lot, a bit来修饰。

eg：His brother is much younger than me.
他弟弟比我年轻得多。

Learning will become much ________ if you find the proper way.

数字＋名词＋形容词的比较级＋than
eg：I'm two years older than you.
我比你大两岁。

She is a head taller than me.
她比我高一头。

比较级＋and＋比较级，表示“越来越……”。

eg：The earth is getting warmer and warmer.
地球正变得越来越暖和。

China is becoming stronger and stronger.
中国正变得越来越强大。

If everyone pours less polluted water into the lake，it will be ________.

the＋比较级，the＋比较级，表示“越……,越……”。

eg：The more learned a man is，the more modest he usually is.

one of the＋形容词的最高级＋名词复数，表示“最……的……之一”。

比较级和最高级变化口诀
比较级要变化，一般词尾加er。

词尾若有哑音e，直接加r就可以。

辅重读闭音节，辅音字母要双写。

辅音字母加y，要把y改i。

最高级加est，前加the莫忘记。

形容词若是多音节，
只把more，most前面写。
