1. (show some pictures of the new words in the passage on the big screen)
Present some new words and expressions to the Ss.
1) in one go相当于汉语中的“同一次”,“一次性地”,其中的介词还可用at,即at one go。例如:
You can’t do the work all in one go.
你不可能一次把工作都干完。
2) come true表示愿望、梦想等的“实现”或“成为现实”。例如:
Make a wish, and it can really come true.
2. Ss take turns to talk about it.
S1: I usually get many nice gifts from my parents. I usually have a nice dinner in a restaurant.
S2: My parents usually buy me some nice books and school things on my birthday.
2.通过运用skimmimg,skinning等阅读技能,2/3的学生能准确找到相关信息并正确完成相应的练习。
3.通过小组讨论,2/3的学生会准确使用目标语言谈论如何过生日。

2. The number of the candles is the person’s age.
the number of意为“……的数目”,当其作主语时,谓语动词应用单数形式。
e.g. The number of the students in our class is forty.
我们班里的学生人数是四十个。

2) ____ In theUK, when the child has the birthday cake with the candy, he/she is lucky.
【拓展】
a number of意为“很多的;大量的”,后跟可数名词复数形式。

age意为“年龄”。
e.g. What’s his age?他多大了?
= How old is he?
3. If he or she blows out all the candles in one go, the wish will come true.
luck是名词,意为“运气”。例如:
