Shigatse, also named Xigatse, means 'the fertile land'. Covering an area of over 3875 square kilometers (about 1496 square miles), this frontier city is the second largest in Tibet. It sits in the plain at the confluence of the Yarlong Tsangpo and Nyangchu Rivers, where Tibet's most fertile land is to be found. With some thirteen ethnic groups including Tibetan, Hui and Man, Shigatse is a typical living area for minority nationalities. The population of Shigatse City is 98,700 about 97% of which are Tibetan. Shigatse has a history going back more than 600 years and it is this ancient holy city that is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, one of the spiritual leaders in Tibet. The city is also the cultural, economic and political center of Tibet. Before the 1950s, Shigatse remained in a primitive state in terms of its economy and its people's lifestyle. Following reformation and the opening up to the modern world, a series of highways were built up such as the No.318 National Highway and the China-Nepal Highway. These connect Shigatse with the outside world while opening up the outside world to people in Shigatse. Nowadays, Shigatse is an important Tibetan communication hub and an air of modernization pervades the area. New industries including mechanics, chemicals and foodproduction thrive here. Meanwhile, the traditional handcrafts have been encouraged and expanded. Products such as Tibetan knives as well as items of silver and gold are sought after throughout China and are exported abroad.Shigatse is one of the world's highest cities with beautiful high plateau scenery. It is also a hot spot for Chinese tourism. The average elevation here is in a range of 3840 meters (about 12598.4 feet) - 4464 meters (about 14645.7 feet), which endows cool and even cold weather to the area. In the high plateau, the climate is not very pleasant due to the frequent wind and dry atmosphere. However, it is not bad a place for summering. Its long history gives this city a strong cultural heritage, especially in respect of Buddhism. The approximately 600 year-old majestic Tashilhunpo Monastery has a magnificent architectural style with a golden roof and resplendent buildings. Dozens of monasteries belonging to different sects enhance the atmosphere of Buddhism. Various grand festivals like Buddha Unveiling Festival in the monasteries each year give people a chance to admire the huge portraits of three Buddhas.Shigatse is of great importance for its location in this area. It is 300 kilometers (about 186 miles) away from the world's highest peak Mt. Everest, 150 kilometers (about 93 miles) away from the Sakya Monastery and also on the only path to Tibet's holy lakes. Thus Shigatse is quite an important base for people heading for those places. In the city, hotels and motels of different classifications satisfy tourists' needs. Although the accommodation in this remote area cannot be compared with those in modern cities, they are still important and plentiful. In terms of transportation, there are tourist buses heading for the nearby venues such as Lhasa, Zhangmu and Nakchu. Publicamenities such as the post office and banks do much to facilitate travel in Tibet.【英文介绍:西藏日喀则】。

Venturing into the heart of the Tibetan plateau is akin to stepping into a realm of mystique and spiritual enlightenment. As I embarked on my journey to explore this fabled land, I found myself immersed in a world of breathtaking landscapes, ancient traditions, and profound spirituality. The journey began with a flight to Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, nestled amidst the towering Himalayas. From the moment I set foot in this ancient city, I was captivated by its unique blend of traditional Tibetan architecture and modern influences. The iconic Potala Palace, with its majestic white walls and golden roofs, stood as a testament to Tibet's rich cultural heritage. One cannot truly experience Tibet without delving intoits spiritual essence. The Barkhor Street, encircling the Jokhang Temple, offered a glimpse into the fervent devotion of Tibetan pilgrims as they circumambulated the sacred site, spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras. Inside the Jokhang Temple, the air was thick with the scent of burning juniper incense, and the sound of monks' chanting reverberated through the halls, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and reverence.Leaving the bustling streets of Lhasa behind, I embarked on a journey into the pristine wilderness of the Tibetan plateau. The vast expanse of grasslands stretchedas far as the eye could see, dotted with nomad tents and grazing yaks. Each step brought me closer to nature, as I hiked through verdant valleys, crossed crystal-clear streams, and ascended towering mountain passes. One of the highlights of my journey was a visit to Namtso Lake, known as the "Heavenly Lake" in Tibetan. Nestled at an altitude of over 4,700 meters, Namtso is oneof the highest saltwater lakes in the world and is revered as a sacred site by Tibetans. Despite facing numerous challenges, including political oppression and cultural assimilation, the Tibetan people have managed to preserve their unique identity and way of life. 藏族服饰解说英语作文

藏族服饰解说英语作文

藏族服饰解说英语作文标题,A Glance into Tibetan Clothing。

Tibetan clothing, a rich tapestry woven with cultural significance and aesthetic charm, embodies the essence of Tibetan heritage. From the rugged terrain of the Himalayas to the serene valleys of the Tibetan Plateau, these garments not only shield against the biting cold but also serve as a testament to the resilience and creativity of the Tibetan people. At the heart of Tibetan attire is the chuba, a traditional robe that epitomizes both elegance and practicality. Crafted from thick wool or silk, the chuba drapes gracefully around the wearer, providing warmth in the harsh mountain climate. Its distinctive design features wide sleeves and a sash adorned with intricate patterns, reflecting the artisanal skill passed down through generations. The colors of Tibetan clothing hold symbolic significance, with red symbolizing prosperity, white representing purity, and blue signifying wisdom. These hues blend harmoniously to create vibrant ensembles that capture the essence of Tibetan culture. Embellishments such as turquoise and coral beads add a touch of opulence, accentuating the beauty of each garment.Accessories play a vital role in completing the Tibetan ensemble, with jewelry serving as both adornment and talisman. Silver amulets engraved with auspicious symbols adorn necklaces and bracelets, believed to ward off malevolent spirits and bestow blessings upon the wearer. Tassels and braided cords add a playful yet elegant touchto hats and belts, further enhancing the allure of Tibetan attire. The significance of Tibetan clothing extends beyondmere aesthetics, serving as a tangible expression ofcultural identity and social status. In nomadic communities, intricately embroidered robes denote familial lineage and societal rank, while distinctive headgear distinguishesindividuals based on their tribe or region. Even in modern times, Tibetan dress continues to be worn with pride during festivals, weddings, and other ceremonial occasions, reinforcing the bonds of community and heritage. However, the preservation of Tibetan clothing faces numerous challenges in the face of modernization and globalization. As younger generations gravitate towards Western fashion trends, traditional garments risk being relegated to the realm of novelty or nostalgia. Additionally, the availability of cheap, mass-produced alternatives threatens the livelihoods of skilled artisans who rely on traditional craft techniques to sustain their livelihoods. To safeguard the legacy of Tibetan clothing, concerted efforts are needed to promote cultural awareness and appreciation both domestically and internationally. Initiatives such as fashion shows, exhibitions, and artisan workshops can help showcase the beauty and craftsmanship of Tibetan attire, fostering a renewed sense of pride and interest among younger generations. Moreover, supportinglocal artisans and cooperatives ensures the continued viability of traditional craft techniques, empowering communities to preserve their cultural heritage for future generations. In conclusion, Tibetan clothing represents far more than just garments; it embodies the spirit of a people whose resilience and creativity have endured for centuries. By celebrating and preserving this rich cultural legacy, we honor the diversity and richness of the human experience, ensuring that the vibrant tapestry of Tibetan culture continues to thrive in the modern world.。
