1.why do people drinks too much, eat too much, smoke cigarettes or take drugs? what’s to blame for all t he bad behavior? most people would say that, while these self-destructive (自我毁灭的) acts can have many root causes, they all have one obvious thing in common: they are all examples of failures of self-control, lacking the will power to resist them.
2.according to a recent study, however, if you really think
about it,
something about that simple answer doesn’t quite make sense. in fact, it turns out that sometimes it’s having will power that really gets you into trouble.3.think back to the time you took your very first sip (啜饮) of beer. disgusting, wasn’t it? when my father gave me my first taste of beer as a teenager, i wondered why anyone would voluntarily drink it. and smoking? no one enjoys their first cigarette — it tastes awful. so even though smoking, and drinking alcohol or coffee, can become temptation (诱惑) you need will power to resist, they never,

4.just getting past those first horrible experiences actually requires a lot of self-control. ironically (讽刺的是), only those who can control themselves
5.these bad habits aren’t self-control failures — far from it.
they are voluntary choices, and they are in fact self-control successes. self-control is simply a tool to be put to some use, helpful or harmful. to live happy and productive lives, we need to develop not only our self-control, but also the wisdom to make good decisions about when and where to apply it.

1.honey (蜂蜜) from the african forest is not only a kind of natural sugar, it is also delicious. most people, and many animals, like eating it. however, the only way for them to get that honey is to find a wild bees nest (巢) and take the honey from it. often, these nests are high up in trees, and it is difficult to find them. in parts of africa, though, people and animals
looking for honey have a strange and unexpected helper -- a little bird called a honey guide.
2.the honey guide does not actually like honey, but it does like the wax (蜂蜡) in the beehives (蜂房). the little bird cannot reach this wax, which is deep inside the bees nest. so, when it finds a suitable nest, it looks for
someone to help it. the honey guide gives a loud cry that attracts the attention of both passing animals and people. once it has their attention, it flies through the forest, waiting from time to time for the curious animal or person as it leads them to the nest. when they finally arrive at the nest, the follower
reaches in to get at the delicious honey as the bird patiently waits and watches. some of the honey, and the wax, always falls to the ground, and this is when the honey guide takes its share.

beekeeper is taking honey from his beehives, and will even enter churches when beeswax candles are being lit.

others may say how to dress is a matter of personal freedom, but for businesses it is more about whether to make or lose money. most employers do care about the personal appearances of their employees (雇员),because those people represent the companies to their customers.
as a hiring manager i am paid to choose the people who would make the best impression on our customers. there are plenty of well-qualified candidates, so it is not wrong to reject

there is nobody to blame but yourself if your set of choices does not match that of your preferred employer. no company should have to change to satisfy a candidate simply cause he or she is unwilling to respect its standards, as long as its standards are legal.

主要考查would you like……?

因为问的是what is your father dong?

但听力内容是he is riding a horse.
