No other band has had the same influence in the world as the Beatles. People in the UK became crazy about the Beatles in late 1963. The phenomenon (现象) was called “Beatlemania〞 by the British press. The term referred to the young women seen screaming at th e band’s concerts. Beatlemania came to North America in early 1964, and the band’s popularity spread across much of the world.
Within five years, the Beatles’music changed greatly from their simple early hits like “She Loves You〞and “I want to Hold Your Hand〞. The band wrote their own songs, explored new ways to create music and strived (奋斗)for high quality in every album they put out. However, with their popularity came criticism (批评). The press criticized the band as symbols of 1960s youth culture, which celebrated freedom from traditional family roles.
In 1970, Paul McCartney announced he was leaving the Beatles. And the group quietly came to an end.
In the 70s, fans hoped for a reunion, but the group decided to follow their own careers with different degrees of success.
Fans lost hope with a tragedy; John Lennon was murdered in New York in 1980.

When we think of summer, most of us think of outdoor fun. So it seems like we should naturally lose weight over the summer—not gain it. 8. Lots of summer activities can work against our efforts to stay at a healthy weight. The good news is that it’s easy to avoid problems if we know what to look out for.
Get going with goals. When we don’t have a plan, it’s easy to spend summer moving from couch to computer, with regular stops at the fridge. 9. Just be sure to plan for some downtime so you can relax a little! 10.With school out, we lose our daily routines. If you don’t have a specific job or activity to get up for, it’s easy to sleep late, watch too much TV, and snack more than usual. Make sure your summer days have some structure — like getting up at the same time each day and eating meals at set times. Plan activities for specific times, like exercising before breakfast, for example. If you have time on your hands, offer to make dinner a couple of nights a week so your family can enjoy
a sit-down meal together.
Think about what and how you eat. Summer means picnics and barbecues — activities that revolve around an unlimited spread of food. Pace yourself. Don’t overload your plate. Avoid goin g back for seconds and thirds. Choose seasonal, healthy foods like fresh fruit instead of high-sugar, high-fat desserts. 11.
Stay busy. 12. In addition to helping you avoid the cookie jar, filling your days with stuff to do can give you a sense of accomplishment. That’s especially true if a dream summer job or planned activity fell through. Limit your screen time — including TV, computer, and video games — to no more than 2 hours a day.
A. Stick to a schedule.
B. Plan more activities.
C. Appropriate summer eating sets you up on the right track!
D. Most of us, however, don’t take summer weight gain seriously.
E. In reality, though, summer isn’t all about beach volleyball and water sports.
F. When we’re bored, it’s easy to fall into a trap of doing nothing and then feeling low on energy.
G. Avoid this by setting a specific aim, like volunteering, mastering
a new skill, or working at a job.

The challenge invites,even dares school
Students 他s between the ages of 5--14 to create artwork or a piece of writing that shows their curiosity。

应选A。

Students who enter the Cambridge Challenge and are selected as winners will be honored at a special ceremony during the CSF on Sunday, April 21st.

The program guidelines and other related information are available at: ://.

The challenge invites, even dares school students between the ages of 5--14 to create artwork or a piece of writing that shows their curiosity。

Students who enter the Cambridge Challenge and are selected as winners will be honored at a special ceremony during the CSF on Sunday, April 21st.

The program guidelines and other related information are available at: ://.

The Cambridge Science Festival (CSF) is pleased to inform you Of the sixth annual Curiosity Challenge.

4.C
5.D
6.B
7.A

Over eight years and with more than a dozen albums 〔专辑)…可知,
Beatles

根据划线词所在句The phenomenon (现象) was called “Beatlemania〞 by the British press. The press criticized the band as symbols of 1960s youth culture…

The press criticize d the band as symbols of 1960s youth culture 〔Beatles被评论为2060年代青年文化的象征〕可推知, Beatles被评论的原因是因为他们影响了当时的青年文化。

应选B。

应选A。

如第1小题“How long did the Beatles exist?〞属于细节理解题,根据第一段的Over eight years and with more than a dozen albums可明显看出Beatles存在了八年,所以我们把这句话为正确答案的依据;第2小题“The underlined word “press〞 means…〞属于词义猜想题,这就需要仔细阅读划线词所在句的句意及上下文中相关的描述可知,press该不是指的年轻女士、年轻的粉丝,也不是出商,而该是媒体;第3小题“For what reason were the Beatles criticized?〞属于推理判断题,从文章第五段中的The press criticized the band as symbols of 1960s youth culture可明显看知,Beatles被评论为2060年代的青年文化象征,这里也是我们得出正确的答案的依据;第4小题属于标题归纳题,文章主要介绍了2060年代的Beatles乐队,介绍了他们对音乐风格及对当时青年文化的影响,选项中John Lennon与乐队的关系、John Lennon的死亡、乐队的解散,都不是文章描述的内容,不能以偏概全,所以“Beatles改变了音乐的面孔〞适最正确标题。

I think I am qualified for being the pupi ls’ English coach, because I have good character, and I’m independent in life and proficient in English. That’s why I apply for the position. I hope I can join the instructive activity.
My plan for coaching the pupils is to teach them by listening, speakin g, reading and writing. What’s more important is to stimulate their interests in learning English as a foreign language, creating a good learning environment. I hope you can offer the opportunity.
Yours sincerely,
