This talented girl then took part in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Unluckily, the two following Olympics were cancelled because of World WarⅡ, but she continued to train and compete. When Koen decided to leave her children behind and go to London to compete in the 1948 Olympics, many people even in her own country were angry.

You laugh when you are happy about something or with someone. If you are one of those
who hardly laughs, you are missing out on a lot. In fact, you are not doing your health any good. Scientists have proved that laughter is the “best” medicine to all kinds of diseases.
Scientific facts have shown that laughter helps people br eathe easier and it is good for the heart and other vital organs(生命器官).
It may also increase the release of disease-fighting cells in the immune system(免疫系统). Like exercise, laughter makes the pulse(脉搏) fast and causes the cardiovascular(心血管的) system function well. In experiments, students who watched funny movies were found to have an increased flow of infection-fighting proteins(对抗感染蛋白质) in their saliva(唾液).
A po sitive attitude also guards against illness and may even make you able to live longer. Optimistic World WarⅡsoldiers followed for 35 years after the war ended developed fewer health problems and lived longer than the pessimistic ones. Scientists now connect pessimism not only with depression(抑郁症) but consider it a dangerous factor for diseases when stressed and take longer to be well again after an operation.
Children are often naturally cheerful, and scientists guess that their emotional happiness may be part of our species’(物种)survival mechanism, tha t optimism helps protect the young from disease until they can reach puberty (青春期). Optimism may have helped keep the species in prehistoric times. Although realism saved cave men and women from being eaten by tigers, without an optimistic sense of adventure, they would never be brave enough to leave the cave in the first place.

Typing is one of the most important and basic work skills of the 21st century. Because mobile phones are now so popular, there is a new kind of typing -thumbing. Thumbing means using one or more thumbs(拇指) to press the keys.
Most people can type between 20 and 35 words a minute. Some typists, however, can work very quickly, at more than 110 words a minute. And people’s left hand usually does 56 percent of the typing.
The most common international English keyboard is QWERTY. It gets the name from the first letters on the top left side of the keyboard. It is more than 140 years old. Other keyboards include QWERTY (in Central Europe) and AZERTY (used by most French speakers in Europe). Languages with non-Roman alphabets(字母系统), for example, Arabic, Russian or Japane se, have their own keyboards.
The sentence The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog is often used to practice typing. That’s because it uses every letter of the English alphabet.
Thumbing and typing can hurt you. RSI (repetitive strain injury) is the name of a medical condition you get if you type too much. However, most people do not understand what RSI is or how serious it can be. Anyone who uses a computer a lot is at risk and should know about RSI.
