Martha Graham, born in 1894, was one of the most famous dancers and creators of dance, whose influence (影响) on dance has been compared with the influence Picasso (毕加索) had on the modern visual arts, Stravinsky had on music, or Frank Lloyd Wright had on architecture. She created almost two hundred dance pieces. She is often called the Mother of Modern Dance.
Earlier in her life, however, Martha did not know that she would become a dancer. At that time, the dancers were looked down on. So Martha's parents didn't approve of her desire to dance at the beginning. Until 1916, she began her studies at the newly created Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn, where Graham worked very hard to improve her ability to dance because she was considered too old to begin dancing.
In 1936, Graham made her defining work, “Chronicle”, which was the symbol of the beginning of a new era (纪元) in modern dance. The dance brought serious issues to the stage for the general public in a dramatic manner.
Graham continued to dance past the age of seventy. Once again, she was met with
criticism (批评) from people who came to watch her shows. But she didn't give up. Her last completed ballet (芭蕾舞) was 1990's “Maple Leaf Rag”. A Dancer's World
is an introduction to Graham and her work. She tells about her dances and her dance group shows some of their methods.
Martha Graham received many awards during her lifetime, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in nineteen seventysix. She was the first dancer to receive the country's highest civilian ho nor. She died in 1991 at the age of ninetysix.
In 1998, Time magazine listed her as the “Dancer of the Century” and as one of the most important people of the twentieth century.

Is It Bad to Cross Your Legs When You Sit?
Crossing your legs is an extremely common habit; most people don't even notice that they're doing it when they sit down. While you may find it comfortable to sit with one knee crossed over the other, it might be causing health problems that you are not aware of.
A study published in Blood Pressure Monitoring shows that sitting with your legs crossed can increase your blood pressure (血压). The reason this happens is that the blood in your legs has to work against gravity to come back to your heart, crossing one leg over the other increases resistance, making it even harder for the blood to go around. This causes your body to increase your blood pressure to push the blood back to the heart. You won't feel any immediate effects, but if you sit for long periods of time it's important that you take note of how long you have your legs crossed for. You shouldn't have your legs crossed for more than 15 minutes, and it's important that you get up and walk around at least once every hour.
Crossing your legs can also lead to neck and back pain. Ideally, it's best for our bodies to sit with our feet placed flat, hip (臀部) width apart, on the floor, but it's not easy to maintain perfect posture all day at the office. When you sit with your legs crossed, your hips are in a twisted (扭曲的) position, which can cause one of your pelvic bones (髋骨) to rotate. Since your pelvic bone supports your neck and spine, this can cause pressure on your lower and middle back and neck.
You also might notice that when you sit with your legs crossed for long periods of time your feet and legs get tingly or have the feeling of being asleep. This is because when one leg sits on top of the other it causes pressure on the veins and nerves in your legs and feet. It can cause numbness (麻木) and/or temporary paralysis in the legs, ankles, or feet. While the feeling of discomfort may only last a minute or two, repeatedly crossing your legs until they feel numb can cause permanent nerve damage.
So next time you sit down, try to get yourself in the habit of sitting with both of your feet on the floor. Not only will it help your posture and stability, but it will also save your health in the long run.

Dear Harry,
I am glad to receive your letter. Now I'm writing to tell you about my favorite sports.
Of all the sports, I like table tennis best. I think playing table tennis is beneficial to both physical and mental health, as it not only helps to build up my strength and confidence but also brings pleasure to my life. What's more, it makes me more energetic and effective in my study. I began to show great interest in it at the age of seven. Now I'm on the school table tennis team. To improve my skills, I practice playing table tennis with my teammates and friends every weekend after finishing our homework.
By the way, I'm curious about your sports hobby. Would you please tell me about it? Looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua 第二节概要写作(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Group exercise is one of the most useful ways to improve physical health and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Group exercise is challenging but fun! Of course everyone knows that exercise is good for the body. However, studies have shown that when exercise is done in groups, it is great for improving not only physical health but also mental health. It is a chance to be social and improve your strength. Also, group exercise creates a community (团体) feel and the shared common goal makes participants work hard.
Another beneficial aspect of group exercise is the informational support participants receive from the instructor. If you fear the gym because you feel lost and don't want to embarrass yourself, then group training is a better choice for you. It is an awesome chance to learn more about health through the clear instruction and supervision (监督) of a fitness instructor. If you are tired of wandering around the gym wasting time and becoming bored, you can attend an optimistic group exercise class that will keep your exercise in the right direction.
If you are serious about wanting to live a healthy life-style, it is very important to surround yourself with people who will provide you with the proper emotional support. I wouldn't speak angrily to anyone for deciding to party on the weekends, and in turn I wouldn't expect anyone to scold me for focusing on my health. Surround yourself with people who encourage and understand you! Plan to go for a jog with a friend, and then try a fun healthy restaurant or fresh juice bar! Surrounding yourself with people who will provide you with support can be very beneficial while working towards reaching health goals. First, decide to do it for yourself and work towards maintaining a positive mind. Then make sure the people you surround yourself with are supportive. Don't let negativity (消极性) ruin your motivation (积极性).
