Hey Sarah!
I can't believe another year has flown by already. It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating my 18th birthday together. Well, get ready because it's that time again! I'm turning 19 in a couple of weeks, and of course, I want to celebrate with my best friend.
This year, I was thinking we could do something a little different for my birthday. Instead of the usual house party or night out, what do you say we go for a proper birthday dinner? I know this amazing Italian restaurant downtown that's supposed to be incredible. From what I've heard, their homemade pasta is out of this world!
I was thinking we could make a whole night of it. We could get dressed up – nothing too fancy, but you know, put on a cute dress and do our hair and makeup. Then we could take an Uber to the restaurant and really treat ourselves to a nice evening out on the town. Can't you just picture us, laughing over candlelight
and sipping on some fancy cocktails? It would be such a classy way to ring in another year.
Of course, the evening wouldn't be complete without indulging in a gigantic piece of chocolatey cake or something equally decadent for dessert. I'm already dreaming about the sweet treats! You know my motto – life is uncertain, so eat dessert first! We could even get the waiter to bring it out with a candle on top so I can make a wish. Although, I'm not sure what more I could wish for with you by my side.
After dinner, we could take our celebration to one of those rooftop bars with the twinkling lights and city views. Just you and me, sipping cocktails under the stars and reminiscing about all of our past birthdays and watching the skyline light up the night. Can you imagine a more perfect way to end the evening? It would be a birthday night I'd never forget.
The only thing that would make it better is if you were there to share it with me. You've been my partner in crime through every birthday celebration since we were kids. Remember that year we had a joint Barbie-themed pool party? Or when we went to that all-night arcade for my 16th and played video games until the sun came up? Gosh, we've made so many amazing memories over the years.
That's why it's only fitting that we do something extra special for my 19th. This is our last year as teenagers, after all! Soon we'll be full-fledged adults, heading off to college and who knows where life will take us after that. That's why I want to soak up every moment we have left together before everything changes.
So, what do you say, Sarah? Will you be my date for the classiest, fanciest, most over-the-top 19th birthday celebration this town has ever seen? I can't imagine ringing in another year without my best friend by my side. Let me know if you're in, and we can figure out all the details!
I already can't wait for an evening full of incredible food, drinks, laughter, and making more memories to last us a lifetime. This is going to be our best birthday yet!
Love you to the moon and back,

A Birthday Bash to Remember
Hey Emily! I hope this letter finds you well and that you're having an awesome start to the new semester. I'm writing because my 18th birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and I
wanted to personally invite you to join me for a fun celebratory dinner.
I know we've been best friends since we were kids, building forts and battling with Nerf guns in my backyard. We've gone through so much together - the awkward braces phase, trying to figure out how to do middle school dances without looking like total goofballs, stressing over the SATs, and now navigating this crazy thing called college life. Through all of the ups and downs, you've been a constant source of laughter, support, and super ill-timed puns that never fail to make me groan.
Our friendship means the world to me, which is why I can't imagine ringing in another year of life without you by my side. I'm planning a chill birthday dinner at that new Mexican restaurant downtown that everyone has been raving about - Fuego Cantina. I've made reservations for Saturday, March 18th at 7 pm.
I think their food and festive atmosphere will be the perfect setting for us to catch up over the most incredible guacamole this side of the border. Maybe we can even convince the mariachi band to step aside so we can treat everyone to an encore performance of our middle school talent show smash hit, "The
Cupcake Song." Or maybe not...I'm hoping my street cred hasn't completely tanked yet.
In all seriousness though, your presence at my birthday would honestly make it so much more special. We're at that weird transition age where we're legally adults, but still trying to cling to those nostalgic childhood memories before we have to become full-blown, respectable members of society. A big birthday bash with my closest friends feels like the ideal way to celebrate one last year of relative freedom and irresponsibility before we're inevitably consumed by the stresses of 9-to-5 jobs, mortgages, and figuring out how taxes actually work.
I know your course load has been intense this semester, with you juggling advanced biochemistry, physics, and that pesky ethics seminar that has you probing the deepest questions of human existence. I can only imagine how taxing it must be to spend hour after soul-crushing hour pondering the same paradoxes that kept Plato and Aristotle up at night. That's why you could definitely use a night filled with lighthearted fun, laughter, and possibly an excessive amount of chips and salsa (and maybe a celebratory margarita or two for those of us who are legal!).
But if you need a more philosophical reason to attend, just think about the ancient Greek ideals of eudaimonia - the highest human good and the virtuous life of striving to reach one's full potential. What better way to achieve that than by surrounding yourself with amazing friends who support you and love you for who you are? That's what's most important, not endless academic discourses that attempt to quantify the unquantifiable depths of the human experience.
Okay, okay...I'll step off my soapbox now. You're probably rolling your eyes at me for even pretending I have a decent grasp on virtue ethics after that sad attempt at philosophizing. Let's be real, the biggest virtue I'll be concerning myself with on my birthday is indulging in as many chimichangas as humanly possible without being able to breathe afterwards. Priorities, am I right?
Anyway, I really hope you can make it, Em. It would mean so much to me to have my best friend by my side as I enter this weird, uncharted territory of teetering on the edge of official adulthood. Just respond with a simple "yes" or "no" to the evite I'll be sending out this week. No need to write me an opus like this rambling letter that has almost certainly tried the limits of your patience by now.
I miss you and can't wait to celebrate with you soon!
Your friend forever,

An Invitation to My Birthday Dinner Party
Hey everyone! This is me, your friend Mike, coming at you with an exciting invitation. As you all know, my birthday is coming up in a couple weeks on April 20th. I'll be turning the ripe old age of 21 this year - the big two-one! I can't think of a better way to celebrate becoming an "adult" than having an amazing dinner party with all my closest friends.
You're all probably wondering what the details are, so let me fill you in. The party is going to be at La Cucina, that delicious Italian restaurant right off campus. I booked us a private room so we can have the whole place to ourselves without worrying about other people overhearing our shenanigans. The restaurant opens at 5pm, but our reservations aren't until 7pm so we have some time beforehand to pregame if anyone is feeling so inclined (wink wink).
Now for the most important part - the food! La Cucina has an incredible prefix menu for groups with multiple courses. We'll start with an appetizer course with options like bruschetta, fried calamari, and caprese salad to share. Then for the main event, you'll get to choose one entree like chicken parmesan, linguine with clams, or an 8oz filet mignon. Besides the main dish, it also comes with endless bread, soup or salad, and a side like garlic mashed potatoes or sauteed veggies. Of course, we have to leave room for dessert too which will be either tiramisu, cannolis, or gelato!
The best part is the entire prix fixe menu with three courses and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks is only 30 per person! That's an insane deal for the amount of food. I'm covering the costs for my closest buds as my birthday present to all of you. All you have to do is be there!
I really hope you can all make it out to celebrate my 21st with me. Honestly, my birthday wouldn't be the same without having all my best friends by my side. You guys mean the world to me and have made college such an incredible experience so far. Let's make some more amazing memories together!
Please RSVP by next Friday, April 12th so I can give the restaurant a final headcount. You can just reply back to this
message or hit me up on Instagram, Snapchat, whatever is easiest. I'll make a Facebook event too to keep everyone in the loop.
I'm so freaking excited to celebrate this milestone birthday with you all. Get ready for a night filled with tons of food, drinks, laughs, and just general debauchery! It's gonna be one for the books.
See you all there!
XOXO,
Mike。
