My New English Textbook: Go for it!
This year I started using a brand new English textbook series called "Go for it!". It's published by the People's Education Press and it's the book that all 5th graders in China are supposed to use to learn English. I was really excited when I first got the books because the covers are so colorful and fun! There are different illustrated characters on each book that kind of look like cartoons.
The books seem much more modern and engaging than the old English textbooks we used before. The layouts have big pictures, different text boxes, and lots of colors. It's not just page after page of black text anymore which I think is pretty boring. These books actually make me want to open them up and explore what's inside.
In the books there are units focused on different topics like foods, animals, holidays, places, and more. Each unit has a few main texts to read, but they aren't long boring passages. Instead
they are things like comics, letters, descriptions, and stories which are much more interesting to read than just paragraph after paragraph.
There are also a lot of little activities and exercises throughout the units to practice things like vocabulary, grammar, speaking, and listening. Some of them are individual exercises to write out answers, but others are pair work where you practice having conversations with a partner. I really like doing that because it gets me speaking English more than just reading from the book.
My favorite part of the new books is probably all the games, songs, and creative projects at the end of each unit. For example, in the first unit about foods, there were guides for making an English menu for a restaurant and putting on a little play at a cafe. For the unit about animals, one of the games was going around memorizing animal facts and quizzing each other.
In the back of the student books, there are also guidance sections that explain good study habits and test-taking skills. There are lists of common grammar mistakes to avoid and examples of how to write things like stories or letters properly. Those sections seem really helpful for developing good English skills.
Overall, I think the new Go for it! textbooks are much better than the older ones we used to use. They make learning English seem a lot more fun and interactive instead of just reading from a book over and over. With all the games, activities, pictures, and modern layouts, I actually get excited to go to English class now. The books have a good mix of reading, writing, listening, and speaking practice. As long as I follow along and do the exercises, I think my English ability will improve a lot this year! I'm glad our school finally switched to using these new textbooks.

My New English Textbook: A Review of "New Horizon"
Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm a fifth grader at Sunny Elementary School. I just started using a brand new English textbook this year and I'm really excited to tell you all about it! It's called "New Horizon" and it was published by People's Education Press.
The first thing I noticed about this textbook is how colorful and engaging the pages are. There are beautiful illustrations, photographs, and fun cartoons on almost every page. The images really help me understand the lessons and stay
interested. I'm a very visual learner, so having pictures to connect the words to is super helpful for me.
Not only are the visuals great, but the layout of the textbook is really well-organized too. Each unit has clear learning objectives listed at the very beginning, so I know exactly what I'll be working on. The units are then broken down into smaller lessons that guide me step-by-step.
Within the lessons, there is a nice mix of vocabulary, dialogues, readings, songs, chants, and different types of exercises and activities. I never get bored because the content is always changing! My favorite part is probably the cute animations and videos that go along with some of the dialogues and stories. Watching them makes it much easier for me to understand the language and pronunciations.
Speaking of pronunciations, one section I find really valuable is the "Phonics" practice. It uses fun rhymes and tongue twisters to help me clearly pronounce different letter combinations and sounds in English. My English pronunciation has improved a lot thanks to this part of the textbook.
The vocabulary lessons are very well-done too. New words are introduced through vivid pictures and engaging scenarios that stick in my brain. There are lots of different activities to
practice the words like matching games, fill-in-the-blanks, classifications, and more. We even make vocabulary flashcards and play games with them sometimes which makes reviewing really fun.
For the readings, there is a good mix of fiction stories,
non-fiction passages, and poems. The topics are all really interesting and relevant to my life, like school, friends, holidays, hobbies, and more. After each reading, there are comprehension questions that check my understanding, as well as extended writing and discussion activities to build on the concepts.
My favorite units so far have been the ones about festivals and holidays from around the world. Learning about different cultures throughEnglish has been so fascinating. We even did group projects researching a particular custom or celebration and then presented our findings to the class. It was a great way to practice our English skills while satisfying our curiosity about other cultures.
To make things even better, the textbook comes with tons of supplementary resources like audio recordings, animated videos, interactive games, and extra practice materials. My teacher shares these with us regularly to reinforce what we're learning through a multimedia approach. There's also a QR code in the
textbook that gives access to a digital study app with more activities. Using technology to study English has been really engaging for me.
Overall, I'm absolutely loving my new English textbook "New Horizon." The content is fun and interesting, the layout is clear and organized, the multimedia tools are super helpful, and I'm learning so much! My English skills have improved tremendously, especially my listening, speaking, and cultural understanding.
I'd highly recommend this textbook to any other elementary students out there learning English. With its colorful design, diverse activities, multimedia resources, and real-life topics, "New Horizon" makes practicing English an absolute joy. I'm already looking forward to the next level's textbook next year! Learning this important global language has become one of my favorite parts of school. Two thumbs up for "New Horizon"!

Go for it! - My Experience with the 5th Grade English Textbook
As a 5th grader, learning English is really important but also quite challenging. The Go for it! textbook from People's Education Press has been my constant companion this year in my
English class. I'd like to share my experience with this book and what I think about it.
First off, the book itself is really colorful and engaging. It's filled with fun illustrations, dialogues between cartoon characters, and lots of pictures related to the topics we're learning. The layout is modern and appealing to us kids. I have to admit, it makes English feel more fun and less like some boring, old textbook.
The units in the book cover a wide range of themes that are relevant to our daily lives as elementary students. We learn about things like school subjects, hobbies, holidays, and cultures around the world. Each unit starts with a main dialogue using words and phrases we'll focus on. I really like how the conversations are about ordinary situations we can relate to, like talking about your favorite sport or describing your weekend plans. It makes the language feel useful and connected to our real lives.
What I find particularly helpful are the small grammar pages introducing basic English patterns and rules. As a grammar newbie, these simple explanations make things clearer for building sentences correctly. The exercises accompanying the
grammar points let us practice too. My teacher makes us do these repeatedly until the concepts really stick.
An awesome part of the book is the fun games, songs, chants and activities it provides. Getting to sing English songs or do role-plays is way more engaging than just doing written work all the time. I remember the whole class cracking up when we did the "Excuse Me" skit - it was hilarious! Playing games related to the vocabulary words helped me remember them better too.
However, there is one downside to the book - the dialogues can get a bit repetitive and dry after a while. Don't get me wrong, I understand we need multiple examples to drill the language patterns. But reading the exact same conversation formats over and over across different units makes it feel a little tedious at times. Maybe the writers could have varied the dialogue styles a bit more to make them more interesting?
Despite that tiny gripe, I'm overall really happy with the Go for it! textbook. It has exposed me to so many facets of the Englis。
