Lead into the new unit by asking some
questions:
1. If you have some free time, what are you
going to do?
Encourage the Ss to use “I’m going to …”to
answer.
2. What do you think Eddie is going to do if
he has some free time?
Step 2 Presentation
Listen to comic strip and answer the question:
1. Is Eddie really going to climb the hill?
2. What is he going to?
Step 3 Practice
1. Repeat the dialogue after the tape.
2. Read the dialogue in roles.
Step 4 Presentation
1. Show the map of the world ask the Ss to list the countries they know about.
2. Show pictures of the White House, the Eiffel Tower, the River Seine, the Sydney Ope ra House, the Harbour Bridge, etc. and read.
Step 5 Practice
1. Read the postcards in part A and ask them to underline the places and mark its coutries.
2. Read the three postcards with the following questions:
1) Who sent the first postcard?
2) Which city did he go to?
3) What did he see there?
3. Use the same method to understand the other two postcards better.
Step 6 Presentation
1. Play the tape of part B and ask a question: Which place of interest are Simon and Amy talking about?
2. More questions:
1) How long is the Golden Gate Bridge?。
