From selfdriving cars to carebots (care+robots) for elderly
people, rapid development in technology has long represented a
possible threat to many jobs normally performed by people. But
experts now believe that almost 50 percent of occupations existing
today will be completely unnecessary by 2025 as artificial intelligence continues to change businesses.
“The next fifteen years will see a revolution in how we work, and a revolution will necessarily take place in how we plan and think about workplaces,” said Peter Andrew,Director of Workplace Strategy for CBRE Asia Pacific.
A growing number of jobs in the future will require creative intelligence, social skills and the ability to use artificial intelligence.
The report—Fast Forward 2030: The Future of Work and the Workplace—is based on interviews with 200 experts, business leaders and young people from Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. It shows that in the US technology already destroys more jobs than it creates.
But the report states: “Losing occupations does not necessarily mean losing jobs—just changing what people do.” Growth in new jobs could occur as much, according to the research.
“The growth of 20 to 40 person companies that have the speed and technological know—how will directly challenge big companies,” it states.
A 2014 report by Pew Research found 52 percent of experts in artificial intelligence and robotics were optimistic about the future and believed there would still be enough jobs in the next few years. The optimists pictured “a future in which robots do not take the place of more jobs than they create,” according to Aaron Smith, the report's coauthor.
“Technology will continue to affect jobs, but more jobs seem likely to be created. Although there have always been unemployed people, when we reached a few hundred billion people there were billions of jobs. There is no shortage of things that need to be done and that will not change,” Microsoft's Jonathan Grudin told researchers.
1. According to the report, .
A. people won't necessarily lose jobs
B. big companies will face fewer challenges
C. small companies will win against big companies
D. most people will become interested in technology
2. We can infer from the text that in the future .
A. people will face many difficulties
B. people will take up more creative jobs
C. artificial intelligence will threaten people's lives
D. most jobs will be done in traditional workplaces
3. What is the attitude of most experts in artificial intelligence and robotics to the future?
A. Mixed.
B. Worried.
C. Hopeful.
D. Doubtful.
4. Jonathan Grudin's words in the last paragraph suggest that .
A. there will be enough jobs for people
B. things will change a lot in a few years
C. many people will become unemployed
D. technology will totally change future jobs Ⅱ. 阅读七选五

一.阅读理解

When I was young,I read many kinds of books, including fairy tales. Most of the books described heroes who were handsome and heroines who were beautiful. So, I believed I had to be beautiful if I wanted to become a great person.
As I grew up,I began to realize outer beauty was not so important to make someone good. I remember a friend of mine,Janie, who was so beautiful that every classmate wanted to talk with her,but she was very arrogant(傲慢的).
She believed that she could do everything she wanted because she was so beautiful, but she lost friends one by one. My poor friend! But she learned a good lesson: inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. After she learned that, she changed her attitude and made friends again.
Whenever I see TV advertisements, I feel that these things make us believe beauty is very important—especially physical attractiveness. Although we say that inner beauty is more valuable, we often look for plastic surgery to make us more beautiful. There seems to be a boom in plastic surgery. It is surprising to realize the number of people who try it is increasing day by day.
We know goodlooking guys usually get higher scores on job interviews. So, what is real beauty? I want to say that inner beauty is the real one because if someone has beauty in his soul,he looks like a really beautiful person.
The beauty looked at with eyes doesn't last forever. Instead of concentrating on outer beauty,we should concentrate on inner beauty. The point is that inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. So, if we make the effort to make our minds beautiful, we'll be happier.

Thanksgiving is an important festival in North America. We interviewed
several students from the US and Canada. Here is what they have told us about
their Thanksgiving experiences.
Josie from New York, USA
“In America, Thanksgiving is celebrated every year at the end of
November. It is to remember the first group of people from Europe to live in America. When they first arrived, they found the environment strange. But they learned to survive after some native American friends showed them how to grow and find food. Thanksgiving is meant to be a traditional celebration.”
Todd from California, USA
“Thanksgiving is the first day of Christmas shopping. That means we have four weeks to buy Christmas presents for our families and friends. For my friends and me, the most important part of the festival is the big football game on TV. The match is watched by millions of people all over America. Thanksgiving is seen as an exciting day for football!”
Ian from Saskatoon, Canada
“In Canada, Thanksgiving is held on the second Monday in October. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving Day, many people go to church. Thanks is given for all the good things that happened to them during the year. I always give thanks for the nice big turkey I'm going to have at the family dinner! Like all festivals, Thanksgiving is about food!”
Katie from Maritimes, Canada
“On Thanksgiving Day, we have dinner with all our cousins, aunts and uncles. It is always very busy. Sometimes we have two Thanksgiving dinners because we go to both our grandparents' houses. The dinner is usually attended by more than twenty people at each house! My mother and my aunts do all the cooking but the washingup is done by me and my cousins. And that's not an easy job!But I don't mind because Thanksgiving is meant to be a time to give thanks.”
