My Big Plans for Giving Back to My Amazing School!
Hi there! I'm Timmy, and I just finished up my last year at Oakwood Elementary. Can you believe I'm already done with elementary school? It feels like just yesterday I was a tiny little kid walking into the big building for my first day of kindergarten. I was so nervous and excited all at the same time!
Oakwood Elementary has been my home away from home for the past 6 years. The teachers, staff, playground, classrooms, cafeteria...they all feel like one big family to me now. That's why as I get ready to start middle school, I really want to do something special to give back and say thank you to Oakwood. They've helped me grow so much as a student and a person!
First up, I'm going to volunteer to help out with all the fun school events over the summer. The book fair, the ice cream social, kindergarten welcome days...Oakwood always has a bunch of stuff going on when school is out to help new families get familiar with everything. I'll be an extra set of hands to carry
boxes, give directions, hand out nametags and information, whatever they need! The office staff works so hard to make those events run smoothly, so I know they'll appreciate the extra help.
I also really want to spruce up the playground area a bit. The playground is awesome with the swings, slides, monkey bars and all that cool stuff. But it's also starting to look a little worn down in some spots. The ground covering could use a refresh and some of the equipment is looking scratched up and faded from being out in the weather so much. Maybe I could get some friends together over the summer to help repair, repaint, and revitalize everything! We're good with tools and stuff so I think we could do a nice job fixing it up on a weekend or two. The playground is such an important part of recess and a kid's day, so having it look bright and clean would be wonderful.
Another idea I have is to make a big appreciation banner for all the teachers and staff. Something really gigantic that we could hang up in the front lobby for the first few weeks of the new school year. I could get allllll my classmates from this past year to decorate it with their names, messages, drawings, whatever to show how thankful we are. The teachers work so unbelievably hard every single day, so they for sure deserve to be appreciated!
There's also the school garden that could maybe use a little love before the new classes start up again. It's this super cool garden area right behind the cafeteria where we've grown fruits, veggies, herbs and flowers over the years. We use the crops for snacks, salads, even some cooking projects sometimes. It would be awesome to freshen it up with some new soil, seeds, gardening tools, maybe even extra planting boxes if we can gather up enough supplies and donations. Getting my hands dirty working in the garden was one of my favorite parts of Oakwood. It taught me so much about where food comes from and how to care for nature. Passing that on to future students in an even better garden would be so meaningful.
Oh oh, and I also really want to put together like a "Big Kid Advice" book or packet for the new kindergarteners and first graders! I could get editing help from my amazing teachers of course. But the idea would be to have current older students at Oakwood write out all our tips, words of wisdom, personal stories and advice we wish we knew when we were just starting out. Stuff like:
• Don't be afraid to ask questions! The teachers are there to help.
• The cafeteria chicken nuggets are the BEST on Wednesdays.
• Here's how you can skip the longest lines for the bathroom at recess.
• Make lots of friends on the playground from Day 1!
• These are the classes/teachers/afterschool programs we loved the most.
Just all those little insider secrets and guidance that takes a while to learn on your own as a kid. If incoming students have a head start with that kind of advice, it could make them feel so much more comfortable and confident from the very start! I certainly would have really appreciated something like that when I first began.
Gosh, I have so many other ideas too like sprucing up the school grounds by planting some new trees or flowers out front, collecting donated books and supplies for the classroom libraries, or even trying to earn money for a brand new piece of playground equipment through bake sales or a read-a-thon. There are just SO many ways to pay it forward and give back to the place that has given me such an incredible elementary school experience!
I know I'll always remember Oakwood Elementary as the nurturing, supportive, happy place that set me up for all my future success. The least I can do is try to make it even more amazing for the students, teachers, and families still there or yet to come. This school made me who I am today, and for that I'll be forever grateful!
Those are my big plans to say thank you to my Number 1 elementary school. What do you think? Do you have any other ideas for ways I could give back? I want to hear them! No gesture is too big or too small when it comes to showing your appreciation. So wish me luck as I work on putting all these ideas into action over the summer and beyond. Thanks for reading, and...GO OAKWOOD EAGLES!

My Big Plans for My School When I Graduate
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm in the 5th grade at Oakwood Elementary School. I've been going to this school for six years now, ever since kindergarten. Oakwood has become like a second home to me. The teachers are so nice, the playground is tons of fun, and I've made so many great friends here.
But now, the sad time has come for me to graduate from elementary school. I'll be moving on to middle school next year. While I'm really excited about taking that next big step, I'm also feeling sad to be leaving Oakwood behind. This place means so much to me.
That's why I've decided that before I go, I want to do something really special and meaningful for my school. To give back and say thank you in a big way. I've been thinking a lot about ideas and I finally came up with the perfect plan. Are you ready to hear it? Ok, here goes!
First, I want to start a recycling program at the school. We don't really have one right now, which is terrible for the environment. So many bottles, cans, paper, and plastic gets thrown away when it could be recycled instead. My plan is to get all the students involved in collecting recyclables every day and setting up big recycling bins around the school grounds. I'll make signs and give presentations to every class about why recycling is so important. I'll make it into a fun competition between classes to see who can recycle the most each month. The class that recycles the most will get a pizza party! I think that will really get everyone excited to participate.
Next, I want to organize a community service day at the school. We would all spend a day beautifying the campus by planting new flowers, trees, and bushes. We could also paint murals, clean up litter, and do anything else to make Oakwood look its best. For this, I'll need to get parent volunteers, as well as teachers, staff, and my fellow students. I'll put up flyers and send home letters asking for help. I'll also set up a sign-up website so it's easy for people to commit to volunteering. We'd provide snacks, music, and drinks to make it a fun event that everyone will want to attend. Just picture how gorgeous the school grounds will look when we're all done!
Another idea I have is to raise money to install new playground equipment, since some of the stuff is getting pretty old and worn out. The swing set especially looks like it could use an upgrade. I'm going to put together a team of enthusiastic volunteers to organize bake sales, car washes, lemonade stands, and any other fundraising activities we can think of. We'll work hard all year until we've raised enough money for the school to purchase brand new playground structures for the students to enjoy. No more worrying about broken swings or rusty slides!
My last big plan is to start a mentorship program that pairs graduating 5th graders with kindergarteners. We would hang
out with our assigned kindergarten buddy a couple times a month to help them get adjusted to being at school. Things like showing them around the building, playing at recess together, having lunchtime pals, and just generally making them feel welcome. When I was in kindergarten, I was really shy and scared, so having an older student as a mentor would have helped me a lot. It's tough being the new kid! The older students get a chance to be role models, and the kindergarteners get a built-in friend to make their transition to elementary school a lot easier.
Those are my four big ideas - starting a recycling program, organizing a community service day to pretty up the campus, raising money for new playground equipment, and launching a mentorship program between the oldest and youngest students.
I really think all those things will make a huge positive impact on Oakwood Elementary. It's my way of giving back and saying thanks for all the wonderful years I've spent here.
Of course, I can't do everything on my own. I'll need lots of help and support from my teachers, the principal, parents, and my fellow students. But I'm confident that if I work really hard and get people excited about these projects, we can make them happen. Just picture how proud my kindergarten self would be
seeing what a difference I made at my school by the time I was in 5th grade!
Oakwood Elementary has helped me grow so much over the past six years. It's given me a safe, caring environment to learn, laugh, and make friends. It's allowed me to spread my wings and discover my strengths. Helping plants grow on our beautification day, collecting bottles and cans to be recycled, seeing a new swing set get installed, or watching a shy kindergarten student come out of their shell - all of those things will fill my heart. They'll be visible reminders that I truly gave back to the place that has given me so much.
I can't wait to graduate from Oakwood, but I'll always have a special place in my heart for this school. These meaningful projects are my way of saying a big thank you and leaving one last mark before I move on to middle school. Thanks for everything, Oakwood Elementary! Here's to an awesome final year making you proud!

My Big Project for My School
Hi everyone! I'm Sam, and I just finished 5th grade. I've been at Oakwood Elementary for six years, ever since kindergarten. It's
been the best experience and I've made so many friends and great memories. But now that I'm graduating and moving on to middle school, I really want to do something special to thank Oakwood and give back.
My teachers have always told us that even though we're just kids, we can still make a big difference. They encourage us to think of ideas to improve our school and community. Well, I've been racking my brain and I finally came up with the perfect project idea!
You see, one of my favorite things about Oakwood is the big playground and fields out back. During recess, we always have so much fun running around, playing tag and sports, swinging on the swing sets, and just being active outside. The playground equipment is a little old though, with some rusty parts and cracked plastic. And there's just one small jungle gym for the whole school to share.
So for my big project, I want to raise money to build an awesome new playground! One with safe, modern equipment that more kids can enjoy at once. I'm picturing fun new swing sets, bigger climbing structures, bouncy rides, and even a
mini-zipline! Wouldn't that be so cool?
Of course, building a whole new playground area will be really expensive. That's why I'll need to do a ton of fundraising and get the whole community involved. But I'm determined to make it happen before I leave Oakwood.
Here's my plan: First, I'll write a proposal to get my idea approved by the principal and PTA. I'll make a presentation showing pictures of the new equipment I'd like, some diagrams of how it could look, explain why it's needed, and share my fundraising ideas. I'll be sure to emphasize how it benefits the school and students' health.
Once I get approval, it'll be time to start the big fundraising push! I'm going to ask local businesses if they'll donate or sponsor parts of the playground. I can write letters, make collection jars for their counters, and hang up flyers around town explaining my project. Maybe I can even get on the local news to spread the word!
For bigger donations from companies, I'll look into setting up an online crowdfunding campaign that anyone can contribute to. I'll share it on social media, email it to family members, and perhaps even set up a website for my playground project. Ooh, I'll need to brainstorm some awesome potential reward levels for
top donors! Like a plaque with their name on the playground, or letting a really generous sponsor pick out a piece of equipment.
My parents and I can also apply for grants from organizations that support causes related to childhood health, outdoor activities, community projects, and education. I'll hunt around online and see what's available. I'm happy to fill out any paperwork or write essays about my project!
But most importantly, I'll get my fellow Oakwood students involved! We're going to throw the best fundraisers anyone has ever seen. Of course we'll do bake sales, lemonade stands, car washes, and talents shows to raise cash. But maybe we could also do a read-a-thon, where friends and family sponsor each book we read over a weekend. Or a jump-rope-a-thon out on the playground! Even teachers could do a zany dares fundraiser based on how much we raise.
Oh oh, I just got an amazing idea! We could sell cute stuffed mascots of Ollie the Owl, our school mascot. Wouldn't those make the perfect keepsakes to remember our playground project? We could take pre-orders and give one free to every kid who raises over 100. Slumberparty sales with owl-themed games and snacks would be fun too.
There are so many possibilities! Just watch, this is going to be the biggest fundraiser Oakwood has ever seen. And when it's all done, we'll have an amazing new place for kids to run, jump, swing, and play for years to come. I can't wait to see the looks on those bouncy little kindergarteners' faces when they see their new jungle gym!
Of course, it won't be easy pulling this whole thing off. I'll have to work really hard, stay organized, make a ton of schedules and to-do lists, and motivate everyone to keep fundraising until we reach our big money goal. I'm sure there will be moments when I get frustrated or want to give up. But then I'll just picture that playground ribbon-cutting ceremony, with me getting to be the first kid down the zipline!
This project means more to me than just building some new equipment though. I've loved being a student at Oakwood these past six years. It's where I learned to read, write, make friends, and grew into who I am today. The teachers are the best and really care about each and every one of us. Our school is such a special place in my heart.
So I want this incredible new playground to be my way of saying thank you and giving future Oakwood kids an even more amazing experience than I had. When I'm older, I can drive by
and see kids enjoying it, knowing I made a difference. That's going to feel so incredible!
I sure am going to miss this school. But just because I'm moving on doesn't mean I'll ever stop being part of the Oakwood family. This project will be my lasting way to always be connected here. I hope it inspires others to make the world a little better too, whatever way they can. Even kids can change things by working hard towards an important goal!
Well, there's my big idea! I already can't wait to get started. Look out Oakwood, this is going to be the most epic playground you've ever seen!

My Big Plans for Helping My School
I'm going to miss my elementary school so much when I graduate! It has been my home for the last six years. All my best friends are here and so are my favorite teachers. This place is really special to me.
That's why I've been thinking really hard about ways I can give back and help make the school even better before I leave for middle school. I have some big ideas that I think could make a real difference. I really want to leave my mark in a good way.
My first idea is to start a recycling program. I've noticed we throw away a lot of bottles, cans, paper, and other things that could be recycled instead of putting them in the trash. All that garbage isn't good for the environment.
I would put special recycling bins all around the school building and outside on the playground. I could make signs and posters teaching everyone what can be recycled and why it's important. Maybe I could even get parent volunteers to come take the recycling bins to the recycling center each week.
My second big idea is to build some new playground equipment using recycled materials. A lot of the stuff on our playground is pretty old and run down. We could make brand new fun things for everyone to play on!
I was thinking we could use old tires to make a tire swing or those pretty cool spinny-cup things. We could take wooden pallets and scrap wood to build a playhouse or fortress. Plastic bottles could be turned into rockers or sculptured into crazy shapes. Basically anything that would normally get thrown out could become an awesome new toy!
It would be so much cooler than the boring metal equipment we have now. Plus it's free since we'd just be reusing trash. And it's much better for the planet. I've seen other schools
do stuff like this online and the kids there were having a blast. Their playgrounds looked like art!
My last idea is to start a garden on the school grounds. We have this really big empty grassy area that isn't used for anything right now. It would be perfect for growing vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. We could give students little plots where they're responsible for planting, watering and taking care of their own plants. Think of how exciting it would be to actually get to eat food that you grew yourself!
The garden could also make our school look prettier with all the colorful plants everywhere. We could put up bird houses and butterfly houses to attract more nature. Instead of a boring grass field, it would be a beautiful outdoor learning space. The science teachers could even take classes out there for lessons about plants, insects and the environment.
Maybe we could grow extra food to sell and use the money for supplies for the whole school. Or we could donate extra veggies to a local food bank for people who can't afford fresh produce. There are so many ways a school garden could be useful.
I have so many more ideas too, like starting a student tutoring program, collecting supplies for animal shelters, or
doing park clean-ups. I just want to give as much back as I can to this amazing school before I have to leave. This place means the world to me. It's where I grew up and learned so many important things.
I owe everything to the teachers here who taught me reading, writing, math, science and way more beyond just academics. They showed me how to be a good person, a good friend, and a good citizen. I want to show them how much I appreciate everything they've done by leaving my school even better than I found it.
So those are my big plans for my last few months here. Hopefully some of the younger students will keep building on my ideas year after year to make our school more environmentally-friendly, more beautiful, and an even better place to learn and grow. I may be moving on soon, but a little piece of my heart will always remain at this very special place.

My Big Ideas to Help My School Before I Graduate
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm in the 5th grade. Next year, I'll be graduating from Elm Tree Elementary and going to middle school. I've been thinking a lot about all the great times
I've had at this school over the past 6 years. Elm Tree has been like a second home to me, and I'll really miss it when I leave.
That's why I've come up with some cool ideas for ways I can give back and do meaningful things for the school before I graduate. I want to leave Elm Tree a little bit better than how I found it when I was just a tiny kindergartner! Here are my big ideas:
Idea #1 - Organize a Book Drive
I absolutely love reading and our school library is the best. Mrs. Robinson, the librarian, is always so nice and helpful when I need suggestions for new books. Growing up, some of my favorite memories are picking out books from the library each week.
But I've noticed that some of the books are getting a little worn out and outdated. And there aren't as many fun new titles as I'd like to see. That's why for my first idea, I want to organize a big book drive to collect new and gently used books to donate to the library!
I can make cool posters and flyers to spread the word about the book drive. I'll ask my parents to post about it on social media too. We can put collection boxes around the school and
even at local businesses for people to drop off book donations. At the end, we can have a big celebration in the library to unveil all the new books!
Idea #2 - Start a Recycling Program
Another one of my passions is protecting the environment and being eco-friendly. I try to remember to recycle at home as much as I can. But I've noticed we don't have any recycling bins around the school. All of our bottles, cans, paper, and other recyclable items just go into the regular trash cans.
For my second idea, I want to start an official recycling program at Elm Tree Elementary! I can work with the custodians and administrators to get large recycling bins placed around the building. I'll create a schedule where different student volunteers are in charge of emptying the recycling bins each day.
To really make it successful, I'll need to spread awareness about why recycling is so important. Maybe I could even have a recycling contest between classrooms to see who can recycle the most each month! The classroom that recycles the most could win a pizza party or something fun. Getting fellow students excited about recycling will really help make the program a big success.
Idea #3 - Start a Mentor Program
When I was in the younger grades, I always looked up to the older kids at school. They seemed so mature, confident, and smart. I remember wishing I could have had an "upper-grade buddy" to help show me the ropes and make me feel more comfortable.
That's why my third idea is to start a mentor program that pairs upper grade students with lower grade students. The older students can act as mentors and buddies to help nurture and guide the younger kids. The mentors can help the younger students with schoolwork, read stories to them, play games at recess, and just be a friendly presence.
Not only will this benefit the younger students by giving them a role model, but it will also teach leadership skills to the older mentor students. I think it's a total win-win! It will help strengthen the whole school community and let students of all ages interact in a positive way.
Well, those are my three big ideas to give back to Elm Tree Elementary before I depart for middle school. A book drive, a recycling program, and a mentor program - just three simple ways I can leave my mark and make the school an even better place.
I know it will take a lot of hard work and determination to make these ideas a reality. But I'm up for the challenge! My time at Elm Tree has meant so much to me. If I can accomplish even one of these ideas, I'll feel like I've paid back the school that has given me so many wonderful memories and such an excellent education.
No matter where life takes me after 5th grade, a piece of my heart will always remain at Elm Tree Elementary. Thank you for nurturing me and helping me grow these past 6 years. I'll never forget my roots!。
