road from Land's End in England to John O'Groats in Scotland, about 874 miles long. It covers almost the full length of Great Britain. The 12yearold boy named Laurence Chandler became the youngest cyclist to finish the route.
Chandler took 20 days to finish the challenge. Each day, he cycled between 40 to 60 miles. He spent six hours on his mountain bike daily. Chandler had to push through rainy and windy days. Cycling uphill was also hard. “It was much harder than I thought. I wasn't expecting so many hills and how busy the roads were,” Chandler said. “But if you put your mind to anything, then no matter how big, you can do it.”
Chandler first thought of trying the route when he read an article about it two years ago. Later, as his father's 50th birthday came around, he decided to go for it. He was already used to cycling around his village and to school before starting his journey.

[2022·聊城高一上期末] It had been a “long” and hard walk from home to the subway station for teenager Mandy Chan when she first put on Hanfu in public. Chan is one of the founders of Hanfu in Hong Kong. “It was a set with a creamcolored shirt, a brown jacket in China's Ming Dynasty style and a red pleated skirt made by me,” she recalled recently, almost 10 years later.
It was not the looks from others but her limited knowledge on the traditional Chinese clothing that had made her uncomfortable. Chan added, “If anyone had asked what I was wearing, or the history behind it, I would have been afraid I couldn't tell them the whole picture.”
However, her uneasiness (不安) had gradually gone with more indepth research on traditional Chinese culture. Hanfu was the traditional clothing of China's Han ethnic group that was formed in the main residential areas of the Han people in ancient China. The historical clothing has untold stories and ideas in every detail. The cutting and stitching line in the middle part of Hanfu fits the spine (脊椎) of the human body and helps people to dress properly. This design, which has transcended (超越) itself as mere decoration, points to the qualities of the wearers as upright and moderate (温和的) individuals.
“Instead of imitating (模仿) people like what I used to do, I have jumped out of my comfort zone and found the style that suits me best,” Chan said. “Through Hanfu, I have found myself and so many unexplored things in my life.” Chan added that she had found her lifelong passion through Hanfu, which is a goal and dream that has never been absent from her life. Chan found she was not alone after falling in love with Hanfu. She believes that classics will never go out of style and she herself has incorporated (使并入) Hanfu into her everyday life.
28.Why did Chan feel uneasy when she first wore Hanfu in public?
A.Her clothes were worn out. B.She didn't like looks from others.
C.Her clothes didn't fit her properly. D.She had a limited knowledge of Hanfu.
29.What is special about Hanfu in design according to Paragraph 3?
A.It never goes out of fashion.
B.It shows personal qualities of its wearers.
C.It has many different styles for choice.
D.It appeals to people of all ages and social groups.
30.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.Hanfu has a strong influence on Chan. B.Hanfu will be a big business in China.
C.Hanfu will take the lead in the fashion. D.Hanfu allows her to get to know more people.
31.In which part of a magazine may we read this text?
A.Health. B.Travel. C.Sports. D.Culture.

Ancient Chinese folk paintings and many other art styles have been passed down from generation to generation, and are still practised in different parts of China. Here's a look at four unique Chinese folk art forms.
Chinese Opera is the traditional form of Chinese drama. According to incomplete statistics, in China's various ethnic regions there are about more than 360 kinds of operas. The most famous ones include Peking Opera, Kunqu Opera, Yueju Opera, Yuju Opera, Sichuan Opera, Fujian Opera, Hebei Opera, Huangmei Opera and so on, in total more than 50, among which Peking Opera is the most popular in China.
Shadow Play (皮影戏) dates back to Western Han Dynasty in Shaanxi more than 1,000 years ago. The moving figures, usually carved out from leather, are operated by folk artists, accompanied by music and singing. It is the world's first dubbed (配音的)motion picture art form, thus considered the “ancestor” of modern film.
Today this art form is still popular in northern China.
Papercutting is one of the most popular traditional decorative arts in China with a long history. Papercutting can be seen across China and it has even developed into different local genres (流派). They are usually used to decorate gates and windows during festivals.
The kite was invented by Chinese people. According to legend the earliest kite in China was a wooden bird by Mo Di in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Later his student Lu Ban improved the tech and used bamboo as material to make a kite. Today, various kiteflying activities can be found in different regions of China. Shandong Weifang Kite Festival is held every year and attracts lots of kite lovers and travelers.
32.Why is Shadow Play considered the ancestor of modern film?
A.It has a history of more than 1,000 years.
B.It was operated by ancient folk artists.
C.It is accompanied by music and dances on the stage.
D.It is the world's first dubbed motion picture art form.

Saving the Galaxy
I pressed my face to the schoolbus window as we passed the big movie screen. Galaxy DriveIn (银河汽车影院) one sign said. CLOSED said another.
I got off the bus at my stop and waved to Mom. I asked her about that drivein down the street as we walked into the house. Mom told me that it had closed a couple years before.
But that night, I heard music coming through my window. When I looked out, I could see lights flashing on the drivein's screen. The thought of fear crossed my mind.
The next day, after breakfast Mom and I walked over to check things out. The place was like a big parking lot with weeds coming out through cracks. We were looking at an old movie poster when an old man got out of a car.
He introduced himself as Nick. “When my dad opened thi s place in 1957, we'd get 300 cars on a good night, but now I have to close it because I can't afford a digital projector (放映机), which is very expensive.” Nick explained that all movie companies just provide digital movies instead of film (胶片) movies. Then Nick allowed us to look around and invited us to come by before dusk.
That night, Nick made an old movie come to life. As I sat next to Mom, I kept thinking about the excitement of seeing that big screen light up. Nick had looked so happy talking about the old days. If only he could get that projector.

How do people name their children? Different countries have different ways to name their children. Let's take a look at a few.
In Spain, a child usually has two given names and two surnames. The first surname is the same as the father's first surname, and the second is the mother's first surname. The given names may be the same as a grandparent's.
In Nigeria, children's names are chosen by family elders. The children's parents wait for names from the grandparents and other important family members. These names describe the day of the baby's birth. The baby's name is announced at a party on the eighth day after the child's birth.
In Turkey, babies are often named according to the time of their birth. For example, if a child was born in spring, the chosen name might be Bahar. It means spring. A baby born during bad weather might be named Tufan. It means storm.
