A few large beer breweries(啤酒厂) have controlled much of the beer market in the United States since the 1950s. But in recent years, the number of small “craft”breweries has grown sharply. The United States has more than 3,200 breweries, but only 40 breweries in 1985. Those numbers come from the Brewers Association, which supports small and independent American beer manufacturers(制造商). The association says craft breweries make up most of the new U.S. breweries.
The amount of beer sold nationwide dropped by about two percent in 2013, compared to one year earlier. Yet craft beer sales rose by more than 17 percent over the period. Katie from the Brewers Association thinks the increased sales resulted from drinkers seeking beer with a different taste. “People want authenticity, flavor and diversity. The beer drinkers are really demanding a more diverse and authentic beer,” she said.
America’s largest breweries produce beers, most of which have a mild flavor and little alcohol. Craft brewers make beers with stronger flavors and higher levels of alcohol. There are at least five craft breweries in Washington D.C. Brandon Skall, launching one such company, DC Brau in 2010, said, “We really wanted to make sure that this city had a brewing identity, but it didn’t have a production facility creating beer that could be sold across the entire city. We just saw that as a major opportunity.”
Anheuser-Busch InBev, one of the biggest brewers in the world, has made humorous advertisements about craft beers. The advertisements suggest that some craft beer drinkers spend more time examining their beer than drinking it. Jeff Hancock, the brew master at DC Brau, thinks the ads will have little effect on craft beer drinkers and says “The big ‘Bud’ and Miller’ are getting a little scared because they’re used to having at least 85 to 90 percent of the total market share. But craft beer is coming up on, hopefully 20 percent market share by 2020.
But not everyone in the craft beer industry thinks the advertising is completely wrong. Greg Engert, the beer director, says some craft beer drinkers do spend more time talking about and examining beer than drinking it.
The Brewers Association predicts sales of craft beer will continue to grow. In 1997, craft beers made up three percent of sales. But that has increased to ten percent today.
24.What does the underlined part ‘Bud’ and ‘Miller’ in Paragraph 4 mean?
rge beer breweries.
B.The Brewers Associations.
C.Small craft breweries.
D.Beer brewery advertisements.
25.The following statements are correct except ______.
A.Katie thinks that the beer drinkers prefer diverse and authentic beers
B.Skall predicts that craft beers has more opportunity in the market
C.Hancock doesn’t believe advertisements have little impact on craft beers
D.Engert thinks that advertisements are useful for the sales of craft beers.
26.What can be inferred from the article?
rge beer breweries have much competitiveness in the market.
B.Small craft breweries have more market share than large beer breweries.
C.The advertisements have no effect on the marketing for the beer.
D.Craft beers have a potential and brighter future in the market.
27.What would be the best title for the text?
rge Beer Brewery Controlling the Market
B.Advertisements Affecting the Beer Sale
C.Small Beer Brewers Gaining Popularity
D.Fierce Competition Existing In Beer Industry

Brown-headed cowbirds are parasites(寄生虫). That means they lay their eggs in the nests of other birds, leaving all the hard work of incubating(孵化) the eggs and feeding the chicks to somebody else. Luckily, many of those other species have developed some anti-parasitic defenses. Yellow warblers, for example, produce a certain type of call to warn other warblers about nearby cowbirds. Researchers call it a “seet” call.
The yellow warblers’ seet call is called a “referential alarm call,” because it is only produced for a single threat, the brown-headed cowbird. “And in response to the seet call, the female yellow warbler, instead of attacking the cowbird, flies secretly back to her nest and sits on it tightly so as to prevent the cowbird from being able to lay a parasitic egg,” said Ecologist Mark Hauber.
Red-winged blackbirds, which sometimes nest near warblers, do not produce referential alarm calls. But it turns out that they can listen secretly to the yellow warblers’ calls. But it turns out that they can listen secretly to the yellow warblers’ calls. And they respond to the seet call the same way they do to the sounds of cowbirds themselves. So red-winged blackbirds prefer to nest near yellow warblers, since the warbleers provide additional warning against brown-headed cowbirds.
“From the literature we know that yellow warblers do better when they nest near red-winged blackbird territories(领地). And that makes sense because the redwings are really threatening. If you walk in a reed-bed full of red-wings you actually get physically attacked by the redwings. They are not frightened by large predators(捕食性动物). So for the yellow warblers it makes sense for them to nest near the red-wings.”The researchers say that this is the first known evidence of animals listen secretly to anti-parasitic referential alarm calls.
“Yellow warblers and red-winged blackbirds speak different languages. They understand their own communication signals and systems. And what we discovered here is basically a bilingual red-winged blackbird that can understand the voice systems and the communication systems of another species,” Hauber said.
28.Red-winged blackbirds prefer to nest near yellow warblers because ______.

C.they would like to make referential alarm call
D.they can use warblers’ calls to defend themselves

A.Yellow warblers and red-wings are parasitic birds.
B.Red-winged blackbirds can make a “seet” call.

If you have ever talked to doctors in the hospitals, you may find that many of them are quite serious and speak in a range of terms that may be difficult to understand. But Zhang Wenhong, the leader of the Shanghai team of experts in the treatment of novel corona virus pneumonia, is one of the exceptions. He caught the public’s attention for his recent frank and funny speech.

One month later, when Zhang advised local residents to reduce the risk of spreading the virus by staying at home, he said in Shanghai dialect: “If you don’t stop seeing friends, you will see them again in the ICU.”
Though chased by the media, Zhang described himself as a medical worker who must speak out now, but will return to keeping a low profile after the outbreak ends. “I spoke because of the fear among the public, owing to limited knowledge of the contagion(传染病),” said Zhang on Feb 26. “However, once the curtain of this coronavirus incident falls, it may be hard to find me. I’ll just hide myself in a corner, studying complicated patient cases and dong some reading, silently.”

Advertising has experienced some major milestones(里程碑).
Since its very first beginnings, which are thought to date back to steel carvings made by the ancient Egyptians, advertising has constantly had to adapt and change 56 (suit) new media and an 57 (increase) clever audience. But there’s been one medium that has had a 58 (big) impact on advertising than anything before it ---- the wonderful World Wide Web. Not only has it changed the way ads 59 (broadcast), but it’s changed the way consumers act towards them. 60 (look) back on the pre-internet time, we can think of the days 61 advertising was carried out on radio, old televisions, and billboards. This was the golden era of advertising. Despite 62 1950s being a tense decade for America during the Cold War, TV viewers felt optimistic and were beginning to loosen their purse strings as prosperity began to rise. Today, rather than the sell mentality(心态), the attention of ads are 63 (focus) on community building and brand 64 (aware).
This idea of emphasizing a solution 65 customer’s problems instead of on the product is becoming common. The evolution of advertising has taken it from the ancient Egypt, through the golden age and character-led sales pitches, to today, where ads are quickly replaced by organic ways to build trust and community.

Afternoon was Mrs. Conroy’s favorite time of day. After a hard day at work, her eyes were tired and her feet hurt. She enjoyed the nice long nap she took on the bus. Mrs. Conroy had made friends with the bus driver, Mr. Angstrom. He always woke her up before her stop. She usually felt fresh as a daisy(精神饱满的) when she got off the bus.
But today was different. Mr. Angstrom wasn’t driving. A small man in a wrinkled uniform sat in the driver’s seat.
“Where’s Mr. Angstrom?” asked Mrs. Conroy, dropping her money into the box. “i DON’T KNOW. Sick, I guess. I just work here, lady. Step to the rear.”Mrs. Conroy hoped that Mr. Angstrom was all right. She didn’t like this new driver. She decided not to sleep on the way home today. She didn’t want to ask this driver to wake her. He didn’t look like the type who’d want to do anyone a favor.
Mrs. Conroy looked out the window. It was a warm afternoon. Though she tried to keep her eyes open, the gentle rocking of the bus had a lulling effect. Within a few minutes her eyes closed. Her head dropped to her shoulders. In spite of herself, Mrs. Conroy fell fast asleep.
The next thing Mrs. Conroy knew, a hand was on her shoulder. Someone was shaking her awake.
“Wake up, lady. We’ve come to the end of the line. Wake up.”
Mrs. Conroy blinked and opened her eyes. The bus driver looked down at her. “I said, this is the end of the line, lady. Time to get off the bus.”
Mrs. Conroy peered out the window. “Where am I?” she asked. “I was supposed to get off at
Essex Avenue.”
“You’re at the last stop, lady. Come on, get off the bus. I have a schedule to keep to.”
Mrs. Conroy was having trouble waking up. She staggered to her feet. The bus driver took her arm and helped her down the aisle. As she stepped off the bus, she felt a sense of panic.

One possible version:
Mrs. Conroy watched the bus disappear down the road. She looked around and tried to figure out what part of the city she was in. Suddenly the sun seemed awfully bright. She didn’t recognize this place. There were no trees around, no street signs, and no people. The city seemed
to have ended miles back. She couldn’t find out where she was. There was nothing to see in any direction. Nothing at all. Mrs. Conroy wondered if she were still dreaming.
A tall man’s voice came from behind her.Mrs. Conroy’s head span around, her heart beating rapidly. The tall man in blue smiled gently and told her he was an assistant and coming to help her. “Well, Mr. Assistant. I just fell asleep and stayed on the bus too long. But the driver wouldn’t take me back with him!”“He was just doing his job and only following orders, Mrs. Conroy.” the tall man said patiently, “You see, Mrs. Conroy, this is the end of the line. Don’t worry about going home.”。
