2012年非洲地区孔子学院联席会议在南非召开

9月7日至10日，2012年欧洲地区部分孔子学院联席会议在奥地利维也纳大学召开。

奥地利联邦议会副议长苏珊妮•库尔茨，中国国务院参事、国家汉办主任、孔子学院总部总干事许琳，中国驻奥地利大使赵彬、奥地利维也纳大学校长海因茨•恩格尔等出席开幕式并致辞。

会议由中国国家汉办/孔子学院总部主办，奥地利维也纳大学孔子学院承办，来自欧洲22个国家44所运营时间在3年以下的孔子学院、部分中国驻欧使领馆以及中外方合作大学的130多名代表与会。

9月11日至13日，2012年非洲地区孔子学院联席会议在南非斯坦陵布什大学召开，来自非洲26个国家和地区的30余所孔子学院（课堂）以及11所中国合作院校的代表出席会议。

与会者在为期3天的会议上围绕如何促进孔子学院更好地融入大学和社区、制订孔子学院发展规划和加强本土师资培训等议题进行了深入研讨和交流。

南非传统领袖、国会议员扎维里维里勒•曼德拉，南非高等教育与培训部和基础教育部官员，中国国务院参事、国家汉办主任、孔子学院总部总干事许琳，中国驻南非大使田学军以及南非斯坦陵布什大学校长拉瑟尔•博特曼出席开幕式并致辞。

曼德拉在致辞中称赞孔子学院在促进非洲与中国相互了解和友好合作方面所取得
的成绩。

他说，包括语言学习在内的文化交流是进一步发展非中关系的有效途径。

他指出，中国过去坚定不移地支持南非人民反对种族隔离的斗争，现在又在真心地帮助南非和其他非洲国家进行经济建设，南非人民为有中国这样的好朋友而感到骄傲。

许琳在致辞中说，在中外双方的大力支持和共同努力下，近年来非洲地区孔子学院的办学条件明显改善，师资队伍进一步加强，学分和学历教育比重不断提高，办学规模迅速扩大，发展潜力巨大，逐步摸索出了一条适合当地需求、具有自身特色的发展道路。

许琳说，未来5年非洲地区孔子学院将把重点放在三个方面：一是开展汉语学历教育；二是辐射中小学和社区；三是汉语教学与职业培训相结合，大力培养汉语的专业技术人才。

堂）增添一些技术培训课，让学生们在学汉语的同时，也学到谋生本领，特别是到中资企业去工作的基本技能，这将是非洲地区的特色。

田学军大使说，近年来越来越多的非洲国家致力于推动汉语教学，经过多年努力，非洲国家的孔子学院越办越好，孔子学院不仅帮助非洲人民进一步了解中国和中国文
化，而且还在促进中非友谊和合作方面发挥了重要作用。

本次会议由中国国家汉办/孔子学院总部主办，南非斯坦陵布什大学孔子学院承办。

目前南非共有3所孔子学院和1所孔子课堂，而整个非洲已有26个国家（地区）开设孔子学院31所，孔子课堂
5所。

2012 Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes in Africa Held in South Africa
The 2012 Joint Confer-ence of Confucius Institutes in Africa was held at the Confucius Institute at Stel-lenbosch University, South Africa from September 11 to 13, witnessing the partici-pation of representatives of over 30 Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) operating in 26 African countries and regions and 11 Chinese partner uni-versities.
The attendees launched in-depth discussions on vari-ous topics at the three-day Conference, such as promot-ing the integration of Con-fucius Institutes into host universities and communi-ties, formulating Confucius Institute Development Plan and doing more in training local teaching force.

tended and delivered speeches
at the Opening Ceremony.
In his address, Mandela
praised what Confucius In-
stitutes have achieved in pro-
moting understanding and
friendly cooperation between
Africa and China. According
to him, cultural communi-
cation, including language
learning, is an effective way
to promote Africa-China
relationship. He noted that
China has been unswervingly
supporting people of South
Africa in the anti-apartheid
movement and now sincerely
helps South Africa and other
African countries in their
economic development, and
South African people are
proud of having such a good
friend as China.
Mdm. Xu Lin indicated
that thanks to the strong
support and concerted ef-
forts of Chinese and foreign
partners, Confucius Institutes
in Africa have witnessed im-
proved schooling conditions,
strengthened teaching force,
increased proportion of credit
and curricula education, ex-
panded schooling size, and
huge development potential
over the years as they explore
a road to development ac-
commodating local demands
yet with distinctive features
over time. She pointed out
that in the coming five years,
Confucius Institutes in Africa
will set sights on three aspects:
developing Chinese curricula
education, reaching out to pri-
mary and secondary schools
and communities, and com-
bining Chinese teaching and
vocational training to cultivate
more professional talents with
Chinese skills.
Ambassador Tian Xuejun
indicated that more and more
African countries have been
committed to promoting
Chinese teaching over the
years. As a result, Confucius
Institutes in Africa are getting
better and better. They not
only help African people fur-
ther understand China and
Chinese culture, but also play
an important part in facilitat-
ing China-Africa friendship
and cooperation.
The Joint Conference was
sponsored by Hanban/Con-
fucius Institute Headquarters
and undertaken by the Con-
fucius Institute at Stellen-
bosch University. At the mo-
ment, South Africa is home
to 3 Confucius Institutes and
1 Confucius Classroom. All
across Africa, 26 countries
(regions) have opened 31
Confucius Institutes and 5
Confucius Classrooms.

2012 Joint Conference of European Confucius Institutes Held in Austria
The 2012 Joint Conference of Eu-ropean Confucius Institutes was staged in Vienna, Austria between September 7 and 10. Susanne Kurz, Vice President of the Federal Council, Austria, Mdm. Xu Lin, Counselor of the State Coun-cil of P.R. China, Director-General of Hanban and Chief Executive of Con-fucius Institute Headquarters, Zhao Bin, Chinese Ambassador to Austria and Heinz W. Engl, Rector of Univer-sity of Vienna, Austria, among other dignitaries attended and addressed the Opening Ceremony.
The Joint Conference, hosted by
Hanban/ Confucius Institute Headquar-
ters and undertaken by the Confucius
Institute at the University of Vienna, was
featured by the participation of more
than 130 delegates from 44 Confucius
Institutes running for less than 3 years
in 22 European Countries, Chinese
embassies and consulates in European
countries, Chinese and foreign partner
universities. The Conference touched
upon and explored into such topics of
common concern as the safety of Con-
fucius Institutes, how to identify the de-
velopment goals of Confucius Institutes,
launch Chinese teaching and cultural
activities, and 2012 key programs of the
Headquarters.
Susanne Kurz, Vice President of
the Federal Council, Austria, noted in
her speech that 2 Confucius Institutes
have been set up in Austria since 2006
which are designed to teach Chinese and
promote Chinese culture and serve as a
bridge between Chinese and Austrian。
