In some culture a significant aspect of spatial perception is shown by the amount of "personal space" people need between themselves and

On the other hand, people from Arab countries and Latin America feel comfortable when they are close to each other. People from different cultures, therefore, may unconsciously infringe on each other's sense of space. Thus just as different perception of time may create cultural conflicts, so too may different perceptions of space.
Translation

Passage Translation
In France, as in many other European countries, friends generally are of the same sex, and friendship is seen basically a relationship between men. Frenchwomen laugh at the idea that "women can't be friends," but they also admit sometimes that for women "it's a different thing. " And many French people doubt the possibility a friendship between man and woman. There is also the kind of relationship within a group——men and women who have worked together for a long time, who may be very close, sharing great loyalty and warmth of feeling. They may call one another copains, a word that in English becomes "friends" but has more feeling of "pals" or "buddies". In French eyes this is not friendship, although two members of such a group may well be friends.

Passage Translation
From age eight to eleven, I attended a parochial school in Bath, England. It was a small school composed of four classes with about 25 children in each class according to age. For the most part, one teacher was responsible for teaching all subjects to the children in their class. However, occasionally the headmaster, Mr. Ronald Broackes would come in and spend an hour or so, teaching some subject in which he was especially interested. He took a great interest in me and he quickly discovered that I enjoyed puzzles. He would often waylay me as I was going to class and produce a piece of paper from his pocket, always stopped me on the way I came into the classroom, give me a piece of paper from his pocket, often with a puzzle already on it. The puzzles were usually mathematical or logical. As time went on, they slowly got more difficult, but I loved them. They kindled within me a love of mathematics and problem-solving that stays with me to this day. They also served to show me that intellectual activity was rewarding when the correct answers were found, but perhaps more importantly it was great fun.
