五一劳动节的由来英语介绍
The Labour Day (May Day) is celebrated on the first of May in many countries in the world. It is a day to commemorate the struggle of the working class and to thank them for their contribution to the advancement of technology, science and culture of human society.
Labour Day has its origin in the 19th century industrial revolution in Europe, when labor movements and labor unions emerged to protect the interests of workers and their families. At the same time, it was also a reflection of the workers’struggle to fight against the capitalists' oppression.
On the first day of May 1886, more than 300,000 workers in the United States held a general strike in Chicago and demonstrated in front of the government office for their labor rights.
After the strike, the government of the United States declared the first day of May as 'Labour Day'. Later, many countries and regions in the world adopted this idea and also declared the first day of May as 'Labour Day'.
Labour Day is a day that reflects the spirit of labor, and also symbolizes the progress made by human beings in labor
struggle and the progress of human society. On this day, countries organize various celebrations and activities to show respect and gratitude to all workers.。
