I saw your name and address in the Pen friend magazine, and I would like to be your pen friend. First, I will tell you some things about myself. My name is Sidney. I'm fourteen years old. I'm about five feet tall. I have short black hair and brown eyes. My hobbies are playing computer games and playing chess.
I live with my parents. They came to England about 30 years ago. They came from Hong Kong, but I have never been there. Now my parents own a Chinese restaurant in Newcastle. We live in a small house near our restaurant. I was born in Newcastle in 2003. I can speak Chinese, but I cannot write it very well. I have a brother called Edwin. He is 23 and works as an architect in London.
I'm in Walker School. It is near my house, so I can walk to school. I like my school because the teachers are friendly. My school has many sports fields like sports very much. I enjoy playing rugby and badminton in winter, and tennis in summer. My favourite subject is Physics. I want to be an engineer.

When you are learning English, listening, speaking and writing are important, but reading can also be very helpful. When you read, you can not only learn some new words, but also you can learn how to use these English words. When you read, it gives you a good example for writing.
Good reading tips:
Try to read at the right level(水平). Read something that you can (more or less)understand. If you need to stop every three words to use a dictionary, it is not interesting.
Try to increase the number of your new words. If there are four or five new words on a page, write them in your notebook. But you don't have to write them while you read. Instead, try to guess their meaning as you read: mark them with a pen. Then come back when you have finished reading to look them up in a dictionary and write them in your own vocabulary book. Then try to remember them.
Try to read regularly. For example, read for a short time once a day. Fifteen minutes every day is better than two hours every Sunday. Fix(固定) a time to read and keep to it. You could read for fifteen minutes when you go to bed, or when you get up or at lunchtime.
Read what interests you. Choose a book or a magazine about a subject that you like, because you are going to spend time and money reading it. So, choose an interesting book. You can also read newspapers. There are many English newspapers in China. For example, 21st Century Teens. It is easy enough for you to understand it. There is something interesting in it.

A. give up reading
B. guess the meaning at first

B. When you read, you can only learn some new words.
C. It is interesting for you to stop every three words to use a dictionary.
D. Try to read something that you can't understand to make your English better.
(3)To make your reading better, _________.
A. it's enough for you to read 21st Century Teens
B. only read a magazine about a subject that you like
C. you should read something that you like for a short time once a day at least
D. reading English every Sunday is much better than for a short time once a day
(4)The main purpose of the writing is to _________.

She brought us to the front of the class and asked him to stand on one side of her desk and me on the other. In the middle of her desk was a large, round ball. I could clearly see that it was black. She asked the boy what color the ball was. "White," he answered.
I couldn't believe he said the ball was white, when it was obviously(明显地)black! Another argument started between us, this time about the color of the ball.
The teacher told us to change places and then asked me what color the ball was. I answered:
"White."
It was a ball with two differently colored sides, and from his side it was white. Only from my side it was black.

This year, Model United Nations (MUN) has become a hot topic in Futian middle schools because every school has founded an MUN club. The young members discussed some global issues like children's education and water problems. The 2018 Futian MUN Youth Conference (会议) took place in Futian Shixia School on December 18th. About 60 student delegates (代表)from thirteen junior high schools came together to listen, present, debate, and offer solutions to our planet's most serious problem. The theme was carbon emissions (碳排量)and global climate.
In the Futian MUN, a team of four named Beyond, from Futian Foreign Language School, attended this conference as one of the 14 teams from Futian schools. This team entered two rounds of MUN competitions before reaching the final. During the meeting, they played the role of British delegates. They made speeches and debated how to reduce Carbon emission. They exchanged ideas with student delegates from other teams. They worked hard to find solutions to the global climate problems.
MUN offers a fantastic program to the youth worldwide. It provides the students a platform to improve their English, critical (批判的)thinking and communicative skills.
