Everybody makes decisions in daily life. They can be as important as what you will do in the future or as simple as what you will eat for breakfast. Any decision could be the tu rning point of your life.
I made an important decision when I was in Junior 3.
Before I made that decision I wasn’t a good student. I didn’t listen to my parents or teachers, and my grades became poor. Then came the high school entrance exam.
At the turning point of my life, my mom wanted to have a conversation with me. I felt impatient but when I looked at her eyes, I felt I couldn’t refu se. Instead of asking me to study hard, to my surprise, Mom just asked what I wanted to do in the future. Without thinking too much, I just said I would like to study hard.
Mom smiled and asked again, “I asked: what do you WANT to do?”
I had never seriously thought about the question before. So, I kept silent.
“Whether you want to go on studying or enter the society,” she went on, “it is your own decision. It should be made by yourself, not anyone else, including me. ” After saying that, she had tears in he r eyes.
For the first time in my life I was asked to make my own decision. I sat in my chair and thought about my life, my future and what kind of person I wanted to become.
It took me what seemed to be ages to make the biggest decision so far in my life—I wanted to be a man who makes a difference in the world. To achieve that, I needed to study hard.
The path to my future became clear to me. I didn’t act rebelliously (叛逆地) any more. With passion (激情) in my heart, I studied hard.
Now, I’m 17 and I’m in one of the best schools in my city, in one of the best classes at the school and I am one of the best students in the class.
Thanks to that decision, I have become what I am today.

Have you ever considered starting a fitness program? Since exercise can reduce the risk(风险)of diseases, improve balance, help lose weight, better sleep habits and even make you confident, you can start a fitness program in the following steps.
Test your fitness level
How many meters can you walk or run in one minute? How much time does it take you to swim 50 meters? What is your heart rate(心率)? The data(数据) of your fitness level can help you know what activities you need.
Design your fitness program
You may have begun your daily exercise. But a personal plan helps more. First, you should have your fitness goals(目标). For example, what do you want to look like, to be slimmer or quicker? A balanced plan will help you start low, progress slowly, do right activities and even allow you to recover(康复) if you get hurt.
Prepare things needed for sports
You need something practical, enjoyable and easy to use. It could be a pair of trainers, a volleyball bat or a bicycle. You can also download fitness apps(应用程序) on your mobile phone to measure distances, calories burned or your heart rate.
Take action
Now you’re ready for action. When you begin, don't always try tough tasks. Listen to your body and reduce exercise time if necessary.
Monitor your progress
Test your fitness level again six weeks later. If you have achieved your goals, increase(增加) exercise time to continue improving.

It is true that people with better education are usually able to get better paying jobs. In other words, they have more chances to choose a good job while people with little or no education don’t. It seems that the purpose of education is to make peo ple get jobs. But this isn’t accepted by all people.
Some people may think that a person should spend the best years of his life to get education only for a way of living. This was probably one of the earliest reasons of education. In fact, if educati on is just a way of making a living, people don’t need to spend so much time in school. People can get education for a living in a short time. Subjects like history and geography need not be taught to everyone. Even language and maths need not be taught in detail, either. Here it is clear that education is much more than teaching a man to get a way of living.
Education is well-rounded and it is mainly for improving a man. It is not only to teach him
to speak, read and write, but also to develop his creative thinking and other abilities. After that, it is to make him a wise man and thankfully enjoy the achievements of human. Educationis to make a man lead a better life. Educated people are expected to be able to listen to good music, read good books, watch plays and take an interest in the world.
I would agree that making a good living is an important reason for education, but certainly not the most important or the main reason.

A. accept education as a way of living
B. take an interest in the whole world
C. develop their abilities to make plays
D. learn subjects like language and math
61.The passage mainly tells us that ______. .
A. education should make a man improve
B. people can get education in a short time
C. people should be able to get good paying jobs
D. all subjects are so important for a way of living

In many –even most –space-themed films, whenever Earth faces a disaster, the solution is always fleeing the planet in spaceships. But the latest
Chinese sci-fi movie, The Wandering Earth, offers a different and more
ambitious idea.
In the film, based on a short story by Chinese sci-fi writer Liu Cixin, Earth is in danger of being destroyed by the dying sun. In response, humans around the world work together to build a giant engine system that will push Earth away from the sun. Instead of abandoning Earth again –this time we’re taking it with us.
This “ambition” didn’t come from nowhere. For thousands of years, “homeland” has had a soft spot in the hearts and minds of Chinese people. One old idiom is luoyeguigen, which means r eturning to one’s homeland in old age, like fallen leaves returning to the roots of their tree. Or look to an ancient verse: “The season called the White Dew begins tonight/Nowhere as in our native place is the moon so bright”. These both show the tight bo nd that Chinese people have had with their homeland. This special cultural background is probably what sets The Wandering Earth apart from Hollywood-style space films.
“What is Chinese sci-fi?” Guo Fan, the film’s director, said in an interview. “A vehicle that
can really express our cultural and spiritual core can be called Chinese sci-fi. Otherwise, we’re just imitating others and telling the same American stories.”
And the makers of The Wandering Earth may have chosen the best time to tell its Chinese sci-fi story. The film was released on Feb 5, the first day of Chinese New Year. It was a time when many people had just made the hard journey back to their hometowns.
So to them, there is only one possible way to tell the story: Earth goes wherever humans go, because it’s our home.
62. What is the difference between The Wandering Earth and Hollywood-style space films?
A. A different and more ambitious idea.
B. Its Chinese makers.
C.The story with great imagination.
D. The specical cultural background.
63. What does the underlined word ‘abandoning’ mean in Chinese?
A. 抛弃
B. 毁灭
C. 依赖
D. 索取
64. The makers of this film choose Feb 5 to put on it probably because ________.
A. it was the Spring Festival and many people have time to watch it
B. many old people want to return to their hometown then
C. it can cause many people’s common feeling at this time
D. Chinese people usually celebrate together on that day
65. What can we learn from the passage?
A. This film was based on a short story by Chinese sci-fi writer Guo Fan.
B. This film tells us each of us should return to our hometown when we grow old.
C. We should protect the Earth because it is in danger of being destroyed by the dying sun.
D. The director of this film thinks Chinese sci-fi should have our cultural and spiritual core.

It feels like every time my mother and I start to have a conversation, it turns into an argument. We talk about something as simple as dinner plans and suddenly, my mother will push the conversation into World War III. She’ll talk about my lack(缺失) of a bright future because I don’t plan to be a doctor. And much to her disappointment, I don’t want to do any job related to science, either. In fact, when I was pushed to say that I planned to major(主修) in English and communications, she nearly had a heart attack.
“Why can’t you be like my co-w orker’s son?” she bemoans all the time. Her co-worker’s son received a four-year scholarship and is now earning 70,000 dollars a year as an engineer. I don’t know what to answer except that I simply can’t be like Mr. Perfect as I’ve called the unnamed co-worker’s son. I can’t be like him. I’m the type of person who loves to help out in t he community, write until the sun goes down, and most of all, wants to achieve a career because I love it, not because of fame (名声) or salary(薪水).
I understand why my moth er is worried about my future major. I’ve seen my mother struggle to raise me on her small salary and work long hours. She leaves the house around 6:30 a.m. and usually comes home around 5 p.m. or even 6 p.m. However, I want her to know that by becoming
a doctor, it doesn’t mean I’ll be successful. I’d rather follow my dreams and create my own future.

You are given many chances in life to choose to be a victim (受害者) or creator. When you choose to be a victim, the world is a cold and difficult place. “They” did things to you which caused all of your pain and suffering. “They” are wrong and bad, and life is terrible as long as “they” are around. Or you may blame yourself for all your problems, then internalizing (内化) your victimization. The truth is, your life is likely to stay that way as long as you feel a need to blame yourself or others.
Those who choose to be creators look at life quite differently. They know there are persons who might like to control their lives, but they don’t let this get in the way. They know they have their weaknesses, yet they don’t blame themselves when they fail. Whatever happens, they have choice in the matter. They believe their dance with each sacred (神圣的) moment of life is a gift and that storms are a natural part of life which can bring the rain needed for emotional and spiritual growth.
Victims and creators live in the same physical world and deal with many of the same problems, yet their experience of life is different worlds. Victims are easy to be in anger, guilt, and other emotions that cause others —and even themselves —to feel like victims, too. Creators choose love, inspiration, and other qualities which inspire (鼓舞) not only themselves, but all around them. Both victims and creators always have choice to decide the direction of their lives.
In fact, all of us play the victim or the creator at different points in our lives. One person, on losing a job or a special relationship, may feel as if it is the end of the world and go into terrible suffering for months, years, or even a lifetime. Another with the same experience may choose to first experience the sadness, then accept the loss and soon move on to be a powerful creative strength in his life.
In every moment and every situation, you can choose to have fuller, richer life by setting a clear goal to change the victim within, and by inviting into your life the powerful creator that you are.
58. What does the word “they” in Paragraph 1 probably refer to?
A. People and things around you.
B. Chances and problems.
C. Creators and their choices.
D. Victims and their sufferings.
59. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Creators have the ability to predict future life.
B. Creators deal with ups and downs of life wisely.
C. Victims can influence more people than creators.
D. Victims and creators face quite different things in life.
60. The examples mentioned in Paragraph 4 show that ________.
A. strong feelings of sufferings in life pull people into victims.
B. people need family support to deal with sufferings in life.
C. it takes creators quite a long time to clear out their pains.
D. one’s experiences decide his attitude toward his life.
61. What is the writer’s purpose in writing this passa ge?
A. To describe victims and creators.
B. To compare victims with creators.
C. To suggest changing from victims to creators.
D. To explain the relation between victims and creators.

Some people have a very poor sense of direction. Unluckily, I am one of them. I have visited a place many times but I may still get lost there the next time.
When I was a little girl, I never dared ask strangers the way. And so I used to walk round in circle and hope that by chance I would get to the place I was going to.
Now , I am no longer too shy to ask people for directions, but I often receive helpless or even wrong information. So I try to avoid giving people wrong directions. If anyone asks me the way somewhere, I would say,"sorry, I am a stranger here."
Once on my way to work I was stopped by a man. He asked me if I could tell him the way to the Friendship Building. I gave him my usual reply. But just as I walked on only a few steps. I realized that he had asked the way to my office building. However, I had no time to turn back and look for him. I was rushing to meet with someone at my office and I didn't want to keep him waiting.
When I just got to my office, the secretary showed in the man who had asked me for directions. Imagine how embarrassed I was and how surprised he was when we saw each other at the first sight!

Charles Dickens is one of the greatest English writers of the nineteenth century. One of his short works, A Christmas Carol,is a simple
story but it has a strong social theme. Scrooge has a lot of money but he
never shares any of it. He hates giving money to people even if they are in
trouble.
At Christmas, presents are given and everyone is kind, but not Scrooge. He is an outsider (局外人) at Christmas. When people wish him a happy Christmas, he tells them the holiday is rubbish.
Then on Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by some ghosts. The ghost of his business
partner Marley tells him bad people are punished after they die. This is Scrooge’s last chance to be good.
Then the ghost of past Christmases comes and shows him happy things he did in the past before he became so unkind. He remembers parties, dancing and delicious food.
The ghost of the present Christmas shows him that people are happy on Christmas Day. His clerk (雇员), Bob Cratchit, does not have much to eat, but the family is happy, even the little boy Tim who is ill.
The ghost of the future Christmases talks about a dead man. People are rather happy when he dies and do not go to his funeral (葬礼). Scrooge asks who it is. The ghost shows him a stone and on it is written: Scrooge.
Scrooge learns the lesson. Money is not real treasure, but friends, love and helping people are. Scrooge’s behaviour is completely changed. H e does not think about money any more. He gives Christmas presents, sends a turkey to the Cratchits, and pays for medicine for Tim so that he stays alive and grows up strong and healthy.
Dickens may not be considered a great thinker, but he is a good story-teller. And A Christmas Carol has been read by millions of people and watched on film by millions more.
