只用whether不用if的情况

whether和if作是否”解，有时可以换用，有时不能换用。

1.所引导的从句作介词宾语时，只用whether
Eg: I worry about whether I hurt her feelings.
2.引导宾语从句，从句置于句首表示强调时，只用whether.
eg : Whether this is true (or not) , I can ' t tell.
3.和动词不定式连用时，用whether，不用if。

Eg: I don ' t kno w hether to see my doctor today.
4.直接与or not连用时，用whether，不用if。

例如：
Eg: Can you tell me whether or not the train has left?
5.引导主语从句时，从句位于句首用whether，不用if。

Eg: Whether she likes the present is not clear to me. 她是否喜欢那件礼物我不清楚。

6.引导表语从句时，用whether,不用if。

例如：
His first question was whether Holmes had arrived yet.
它的第一个问题是福尔摩斯是否已经到了。

7.引导让步状语从句，作不管”解时，用whether，不用if。

eg: Whether you like it or not, you ' ll have to不管你愿不愿意，你都得做这件事。

8.如果句中已有if引导的状语从句，最好用whether , 以避免重复if。

或在容易造成歧义的情况下，如表达是否” 的意思时，最好用whether。

例如：
He asked me whether, if I had time, I ' d go with他iim.
问我，如果我有时间的话，是否和他一起去。

9 .在discuss后面只能跟whether引导的宾语从句。

Eg: We discussed whether we should close the shop.
二.慎用whether:
1.宾语从句如果是否定句，一般用if,因为whether弓|导的
宾语从句通常是肯定的。

例如：
I don ' t osaif she doesn ' t come.
We discussed whether we should close the shop.
2.注：doubt用于肯定句时，可用whether或if引导的宾语从
句，在否定句或疑问句中则跟that引导的宾语从句。

例如：
I doubt whether/if he will come.
I don ' t doubt that you are honest.Can you doubt that he will come?。
