学习中国传统文化的调查的英语作文Learning About My Chinese Traditional Culture
My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I live in Beijing with my mom, dad, and little sister Huanhuan. Even though we live in a big modern city, my parents have taught me a lot about our amazing Chinese traditional culture. It's so interesting to learn about all the history and customs that go back thousands of years!
One of my favorite traditions is the Chinese New Year celebration. We get to take a few weeks off from school and spend lots of time with family. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all come over for a huge feast on New Year's Eve. My mom spends days cooking delicious foods like dumplings, noodles, fish, and sweet rice balls. I love the fish dish because it's supposed to bring good luck and prosperity for the new year.
Before the big meal, we'll do a thorough cleaning of our home to sweep away any bad luck from the old year. I help my dad put up decorations like red lanterns, upside-down fu symbols for luck, and couplets with poetic sayings. We also give the house a new coat of red paint on the door frames and windowsills since red is such an auspicious color.
On New Year's Day, my parents give me, my sister, and my cousins little red envelopes with money inside called hongbao. We're not supposed to open them right away though as that's considered bad luck. The whole two week period is filled with so many lively traditions like watching the New Year's parade, setting off firecrackers, and staying up late playing games and eating snacks.
Another important tradition is learning about Confucianism and its teachings. Confucius was a famous philosopher who lived over 2,500 years ago but his ideas about morality, etiquette, and relationships still guide Chinese culture today. In school we learned about the five core Confucian virtues - kindness, righteousness, respect, wisdom, and loyalty. My teacher says if I practice these virtues, I'll grow up to be a good, moral person that brings honor to my family.
Some of the key principles are filial piety toward parents and elders, putting the family's interests above your own, and obtaining skills through diligent study. I try my best to always obey my parents, be a good example for my little sister, and work really hard in my classes. I know my ancestors would be proud to see me upholding these important Confucian values.
Speaking of ancestors, we have a special holiday called Qingming Festival each spring to honor and pay respects to our ancestors' spirits. The whole family will go together to tend the grave sites by pulling weeds, leaving offerings of food and fresh flowers, and burning incense and special money papers. My grandparents told me it's important to remember where we came from and express gratitude for everything our ancestors did to give us such a rich heritage.
Along with all the customs, I've also learned a ton about traditional Chinese arts and crafts. For example, I took an
after-school class to learn Chinese calligraphy and how to use the brush to paint different styles of beautiful Chinese characters. It takes a lot of patience and skill! Chinese pottery and porcelain has been famous worldwide for centuries too. We went on a field trip to a ceramic factory and I got to try my hand at throwing a pot and painting the bright colors and intricate designs myself.
Another art form I really enjoy is Chinese opera. The performers have such vibrant, elaborate costumes and masks. I love watching the stylized movements and hearing the songs that tell stories about ancient heroes or funny situations. I learned that Peking Opera has different role types like the masked Painted Faces for warriors or the Dan roles for female
characters. Everything from the makeup to the musical instruments is steeped in symbolic meaning passed down for generations.
I also think Chinese medicine and remedies are fascinating parts of our heritage. My grandma is a master at using medicinal herbs, teas, and other natural treatments for common illnesses instead of western medicine. Whenever I have a cough or cold, she'll brew up a special concoction of ingredients like ginger, honeysuckle, and chrysanthemum. It always seems to make me feel better!
The traditional Chinese philosophies like Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism have unique takes on living an ethical, balanced life too. My uncle is really into Taoism and has taught me about the importance of harmony with nature and "going with the flow." He meditates, does Tai Chi, and is just very relaxed and peaceful. I try to keep my mind focused and avoid getting stressed like he does.
I feel very fortunate that my family has shared so much knowledge with me about the traditions, arts, philosophies, and practices that have shaped Chinese civilization over 5,000 years. Our culture is absolutely incredible with a vibrant history that still influences my life every single day. From celebrating festivals to
following moral teachings to appreciating arts and more, I've gained a deep sense of pride andrespect for my Chinese heritage. I'll definitely work hard to uphold these traditions and pass them down when I have my own family someday!。
