介绍哈尔滨的冰雪文化的英语作文
介绍哈尔滨的冰雪文化的英语作文The Sparkly, Icy Wonderland of HarbinHi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 4th grader from Harbin, China. Harbin is the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, which is way up in the northeastern part of the country. It gets sooooo cold here in the winter, with temperatures dropping below freezing for months at a time. But you know what? The freezing cold means we get to experience the most magical, glittering, icy wonderland! Harbin is famous around the world for its incredible ice and snow festivals and sculptures. Let me tell you all about the amazing ice exhibitions and frosty fun activities that make my hometown the "Ice City"!Every year from late December to late February, Harbin hosts the enormous Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. It's been going on for over 35 years and it draws millions of visitors from all over the globe! The festival takes place in a few different parks spread out across the city, but the star of the show is the dazzling Ice and Snow World located in Stalin Park. This is where you'll find the most breathtaking, larger-than-life ice sculptures carefully carved by incredibly talented artists. To create the icy masterpieces, workers use machinery to carefully harvest thousands of thick ice blocks from the frozen Songhua River that runs through Harbin. The river freezes solid during winter, with the ice becoming over 3 feet thick in some parts! Pretty cool, right? The huge ice blocks are then transported and assembled together using a special ice-lattic technique to build the enormous snow sculptures.Once the basic structures are in place, teams of master sculptors from Harbin and around the world get to work carving out their icy artworks using chisels, saws, and other tools. It takes weeks of hard work in the bitter cold to turn those plain ice blocks into the sprawling winter wonderland called Ice and Snow World! The sculptures range from famous buildings and landscapes replicated in frozen form to mythological characters and abstract designs that seem to defy gravity. With colorful lights illuminating the ice at night, it's like stepping into a glowing fairy tale kingdom! My favorite part of Ice and Snow World is definitely the Ice Castles. That's where you'll find the most ornate, castle-like ice structures soaring several stories high, often inspired by things like Buddhist temples or European palaces. It's fun to wander through the maze-like castles, sliding down the icy slides andstairs and peeking into the elaborately carved rooms. Just don't lick the walls or you might get stuck! The frosty cathedrals and towers are always decorated with thousands of lightbulbs which make them shimmer in shades of blue, purple, red and more under the night sky. It looks like something straight out of the movie Frozen! But Ice and Snow World has a lot more than just ice sculptures. There are also enormous snow slides that seem to stretch on forever. You can grab an inner tube and launch yourself down the steep, winding hills, screaming in delight all the way! Snow plazas offer snow playgrounds where you can build snowmen, throw snowballs, or go sledding. And on the frozen lakes and rivers, you'll find people bundled up to go ice skating, playing ice hockey, and even riding bikes outfitted with special skate-like blades instead of wheels. If you get chilly from all that outdoor fun, there are also tons of indoor attractions at Ice and Snow World. Some of the most impressive ones are the massive indoor ice halls, where the temperature is kept at a frigid -13°F (-25°C)! That's perfect conditions for housing sprawling ice mazes, ice slides, ice sculptures, and even full-sized buildings, churches, and famous landmarks meticulously carved out of solid ice. Talk about awinter chill! It's wild to explore inside icy recreations of places like Moscow's Red Square or the Colosseum in Rome.Ice and Snow World is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Harbin's frosty attractions. Another hugely popular spot is Sun Island, a scenic riverside park and beach that hosts the Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Exposition each year. Sculptors from around the globe flock to Sun Island to carve larger-than-life snow sculptures out of compacted snow. From fun cartoon characters to realistic depictions of animals, landmarks and people, the snow sculptures showcase incredible artistry and imagination. My personal favorite is the yearly snow Buddhist goddess sculpture, which can reach heights over 50 feet tall! When you're not admiring the icy wonders on display, Harbin has tons of opportunities to play in the snow yourself. You can find ski resorts scattered around the city, go tubing down steep hills, have snowball fights in the parks, or go snowmobiling across the frozen rivers. And don't worry about being cold – we have lots of delicious hot foods and drinks to keep you toasty! Trying to use your chopsticks with mittens on to slurp up a piping hot bowl of Harbin's famous savory stuffed buns or stew is always a hilarious struggle. And I can't getenough of the sugar candies and caramel apples that get frozen into a sweet icy treat! My friends and I love to bundle up in our puffiest snowsuits until we look like little Michelin Man children, then go sledding, tubing and rolling around in the fluffy white snow until our parents make us come inside because our toes are frostbitten. Playing in that fresh powder never gets old! And at night, we love catching the ice sculpture light shows, where the sculptures are illuminated with choreographed light displays that twinkle to music. Talk about icy entertainment! All this snowy fun draws visitors from across China and around the world, making winter kind of like Harbin's biggest holiday season. The sounds of different languages fill the air as tourists snap photos in front of the shimmering ice palaces. Vendors sell all kinds of knickknacks like fur hats, gigantic mittens, and miniature snow globes filled with carved ice sculptures inside. And the air is filled with the scents of hot meat pies, candied hawthorns, and other tasty street foods that are oh-so-necessary for keeping warm out there in the frosty chill of Harbin! As you can probably tell, I absolutely love everything about the ice and snow season here. Living in the "Ice City" is like beingin a real-life fairy tale during the winter months! Sure, the cold temperatures can be kind of brutal (Mom has to bundle me up like a puffer ball to play outside!). But all the icy magic and sparkling sculptures make it more than worth braving the chill. Where else can you spend months frolicking amongst soaring crystal castles, gigantic snow animals, and entire cities made entirely out of frozen water? So if you find yourself in Harbin next winter, bundle up and get ready for a frozen wonderland experience like no other. And if you see a little snow kid rolling around and making snow angels, that might just be me! Thanks for reading, and stay frosty out there!。
