Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is important to remember and learn from the past. Use details and examples to explain your opinion.TPO15口语Task2参考答案(范文模板):I think it is very important to remember and learn from the past because first of all, if we don’t remember the mistakes we made in the past, we will make the same mistakes again. When I was a child, I had a bad temper and used to break my toys. I would ask my parents for new toys and they refused to get me more. So, I learned that if I had a temper, it would only cause me more pain.Secondly, remembering the past can help us become better people in the future. When I was first in college, my study methods were very ineffective and it caused me to get bad grades; therefore, I learned from the past and changed my study habits. From that point on, all of my grades were very high. That why I think that it’s important to remember and learn from the past.。

Narrator: Listen to a conversation between a student and a professor. Student: Hi, I was wondering if I could talk with you about the assignment in the film theory class. Professor: Of course, Jill. Student: It seems that pretty much everyone else in the class gets what they are supposed to be doing but I’m not so sure. Professor: Well, the class is for students who are really serious about film. You must have taken film courses before. Student: Yeah, in high school, film appreciation. Professor: Hmmm…I wouldn’t think that would be enough. Did you concentrate mainly on form or content? Student: Oh, definitely content. We’d watch, say Lord of the Flies, and then discuss it. Professor: Oh, that approach, treating film as literature, ignoring what makes it unique. Student: I liked it, though. Professor: Sure, but that kind of class. Well, I’m not surprised that you are feeling a little lost. You know, we have two introductory courses that are supposed to be taken before you get to my course, one in film art, techniques, technical stuff and another in film history. So students in the class you are in should be pretty far along in film studies. In fact, usually the system blocks anyone trying to sign up for a class they shouldn’t be taking, who hasn’t taken the courses you are required to do first as prerequisites. Student: Well, I did have a problem with that but I discussed it with one of your office staff, and she gave me permission. Professor: Of course. No matter how many times I tell them, they just keep on… Well, for your own good, I’d really suggest dropping back and starting at the usualplace. Student: Yes. But I’ve already been in this class for 4 weeks. I’d hate to just drop it now especially since I find it so different, so interesting. Professor: I guess so. Frankly I can’t believe you’ve lasted this long. These are pretty in-depth theories we’ve been discussing and you’ve been doing OK so far, I guess. But still, the program’s been designed to progress through certain stages. Like any other professional training we build on pervious knowledge. Student: Then maybe you could recommend some extra reading I can do to… catch up? Professor: Well, are you intending to study film as your main concentration? Student: No, no. I am just interested. I’m actually in marketing, but there seems to be a connection. Professor: Oh…well, in…in that case, if you’re taking the course just out of interest, I mean I still highly recommend signing up for the introductory courses at some point, but in the meantime, there is no harm I guess in trying to keep up with this class. The interest is clearly there. Eh, instead of any extra reading just now though, you could view some of the old introductory lectures. We have them on video. That would give you a better handle on the subject. It’s still a pretty tall order, and we will be moving right along, so you will really need to stay on top of it. Student: OK, I’ve been warned. Now, could I tell you about my idea for the assignment? Question 1 of 5 What is the conversation mainly about? A. An assignment about which the student would like advice. B. Concerns as to whether the student should be in the professor’s course. C. The selection of films to be viewed by students in a film theory course. D. The structure and sequence of courses in the Film Department.。

For example, when two girls are taking a jobinterview. Girl A looks really normal, actually when she is surrounded by the crowd, you w on’t even notice her. And Girl B has ever done a plastic surgery on her nose, cheeks and eyebrows, and she’s perfect in most men’s eyes. So, whom do you think will get the job? Girl B of course. I’m not being judgmental, I’m just telling the cruel facts.【2017年5月新托福口语Task2题目及范文】。

Describe a place you have visited that has been affected by pollution. I would like to talk about a place I visited last summer, which is my hometown. Unfortunately, over the years, my hometown has been severely affected by pollution, especially air and water pollution. The air is filled with smog, making it difficult to breathe, and the rivers are contaminated with industrial waste, killing off the aquatic life. The main cause of pollution in my hometown is the rapid industrialization and urbanization that has taken place in recent years. Factories have been built without proper environmental regulations, releasing harmful pollutants into the air and water. Additionally, the increase in motor vehicles has contributed to the air pollution, as exhaust fumes fill the streets. The pollution in my hometown has had a significant impact on the health of the residents. Many people suffer from respiratory problems, such as asthma andbronchitis, due to the poor air quality. The contaminated water has also led to an increase in waterborne diseases. To tackle this issue, the government needs to take immediate action. Stricter regulations should be implemented to control industrial pollution, and more efforts should be made to promote renewable energy sources. Furthermore, public transportation should be improved to reduce the number of private vehicles on the road.In conclusion, pollution has had a detrimental effect on my hometown. It felt like I had entered a magical world where anything was possible. I spent the entire day exploring the different attractions and going on as many rides as I could. One particular ride that stood out to me was the roller coaster. I was initially scared to go on it, but my older brother convinced me to give it a try. As theroller coaster went up and down, I screamed with a mix of fear and exhilaration. It was an adrenaline rush like no other, and I couldn't stop laughing afterwards. Another highlight of the trip was meeting my favorite Disney princess, Cinderella.I waited in line for what felt like hours just to get a picture with her. When it was finally my turn, I was starstruck. Cinderella was so kind and beautiful, and I felt like I was meeting a real-life princess.Overall, my first trip to Disneyland was an unforgettable experience. It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and magic. Even now, as an adult, I still cherish the memories from that day and hope to visit Disneyland again in the future.

Task1 – Do you think it’s a good idea for universityto ask a student to leave school if he was caught cheating in exams? Explainyour response in details.Sample:Idon’t think the university should force the student leave school if he or shewas caught cheating. Firstly, it is human beings’nature to find shortcuts andmost of us may have done this kind of staff once or twice in the whole life.Frankly speaking, people should be given the second chance to realize theirerrors and make it up later, especially university students. I think there aresome better ways to deal with cheating like giving the student a warning orrequire him/her to have a make-up exam or retake the course.Task2 – Some college studentslike to join clubs and enjoy club activities, others like to spend their timestudying another courses or doing schoolwork. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Why or why not? Use details and examples to explain your answer. It is more important to study math or science than it is to study art or literature. I strongly disagree with the statement that studying math or science is more important than studying art or literature. Of course, math and science are very important, but it doesn't mean that they are more important than art or literature. We admire Newton for his scientific achievements such as Newton's first law. We also admire Leonardo for his art accomplishments such as MonaLisa. These two people are not comparable because they are in two different fields. So some people like studying science; some like studying literature. They all make great contributions to the human civilizations. So all these subjects are equally important.
PART 1COLOR• What’s your favorite color?White:I love the color white because it’s so clean and pure. When I wear white, I feel very peaceful at heart. But I have to pay attention because it gets dirty so easily. I think a white Tee Shirt and blue jeans are the best combination.Black:I think black is very mysterious and sophisticated. For a girl, it looks very sexy. And when you wear black you look thinner, because the color is very slimming.Blue:It’s the color of the sea and the sky. It’s also the color of jeans. So I guess in a sense, it’s a young and free color.Red:Red is the hottest and most enthusiastic color you can ever imagine. And it’s the color of China.Green:The color green reminds me of the nature and the environment. It’s the color of Spring when all lives come back around us. So wearing this color, I feel very close to nature.• Do you like the same color now as you did when you were younger?Same:Well, yeah.I’m a kind of person that likes something and doesn’t change. And I think the colors of black and white are the most classic. I’m a simple guy, so I like simple colors.Changed:I guess it changed. When I was young, I was childish, so I like bright colors, such as light yellow and shiny red. But now, I’m a 20 years old young man, I’m more mature, and so I like more understated colors, such as dark blue or deep green.• What can you learn about a person from the color they like?I think you can tell about a person’s personality by his or her favorite colors. For example, if a person loves the color red, he’s very out-going and not afraid to show his feelings and emotions. But if a person loves black, for instance, she maybe very reserved and mysterious. She may not want to share too much with others.• Do any colors have special meanings in your culture?I think the colors of red and yellow represent our home country, China, because they’re the main colors of the national flag. The color red also means happy occasions, such as wedding.I know that the color white means wedding in the west. Yet, the it means death in China. Surprising, huh?PART 2Describe a song or a piece of music you likeYou should say• What the song or music it is• What kind of song or music it is• Where you first heard itAnd explain why you like itAnswers:I love music. It’s as important as food and water to me. I can’t spend one day without listening to my favorite tunes. And I have an extensive collection of all kinds of music, from classical to rock and roll, from Jazz to hip-hop.It’s funny how I love so many different schools of music. And recently, one of my all-time-favorite tunes is “What Goes Around” by Justin Timberlake. Justin Timberlake is huge right now in America and he’s working with so many famous names including Timbaland and Madonna. This song is from his new album “Sexy Back”.This song is definitely hip-hop, which is very popular among young people right now. Justin uses his voice in a unique way and it has a special characteristic.I heard this song not long ago when I was watching the latest hit show on American Television, “Gossip Girl”. So in the first episode, when the girl was coming back to her hometown, this song was playing in the background. It suddenly caught my attention. And I searched for it and got it.I’ve been listening to this song for sometime now, but I still like it very strongly. Especially when I’m tired from all my learning, I put it in my ear, and the beat, the rhythm will wake me up and give me so much energy and joy in life again. People say music affects your mood. It’s so true. Hip-hop is young and passionate. And the song “What goes around” is from the phrase “What goes around, comes around.” I guess it has a very positive meaning. As you work hard, you will improve.PART 3话题1:Music and Young PeopleQ: What kinds of music are popular with young people in your culture?Answer: (1 min 8-9 sentences)I’m not a music student but an amateur music lover. (业余的)And I haven’t done any research and survey about the music industry in China. (研究调查) But from my personal experience, young people in China appreciate pop, hip-hop and R&B the most. It think this is largely because many people who have been abroad are bringing back a new musical taste. So boy groups, such as Westlife, and singers, for example, Justin Timberlake, Usher or the Taiwan R&B king, David Tao, become really popular. And the development of music technology makes listening to music very convenient. Right now, it only costs you a few hundred yuan to buy a large Mp3, well it’s not iPod, but works just fine. I listen to music, like, all the time. And right now I’m most interested in Hip-hop. It’s young, energetic and so fashionable. (150 words)Q: What do you think influences the young people’s tastes in music? I think the first influence on a person’s taste of music comes from parents. When you were young, you have no idea what to listen to, you have no taste in music, and your mom and dad provide you the first music education by showing you the music that they like. And Chinese parents often force their kids to study a musical instrument, such as piano, violin. Such education can easily make a person fall in love with classical music. And the second and perhaps the strongest influence is from your friends. When you’re growing up, your confidence and understanding of the world also improve, and the people who spend the most time with you, your friends and classmates, certainly will influence your tastes in everything, including music. You probably go CD shopping together, and then listen to the same music in the same room. At last, when you finally become an adult, an exciting thing happens—you develop your personal identity, independence and style. You’re more sure about who you’re since now you’re a grown-up. But, my friend, you are still influenced by the media, such as TV, radio, and the internet. And such things provide you the third kind of music influence. (203 words)Q: How has technology affected the kinds of music popular with young?Answer:When I was very young, I didn’t have many cds to listen to because getting new songs and new cds was very difficult. But right now, with the fast development of the internet, information is so readily available.Young people can know the newest CDs in just a few minutes they spend on the internet. And they can even purchase new music by visiting iTunes website. And I think Apple Computer contributed a lot to the music industry. Because of iPod, music is shared internationally. And in one small gadget/ box, you can carry more than 500 albums of music. Listening to music has never been so easy. And the promotion of music videos on music channels, such as MTV and Channel V, is also making new artists, new cds popular among young people. So the internet, iPod and TV media are the three biggest technological assistance for the development of music. (152 words)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------话题2:Music and societyQ: Tell me about any traditional music in your culture.Answer:I’m a young person, and naturally I enjoy music from the west, such as hip-hop and rock ‘n’roll. And I guess the traditional music in Chinese culture that I can think of right now, is played often with Erhu and Guzheng. These are Chinese traditionalmusical instruments with strings(弦乐器). And such music is folk music, which is created by grassroots artists long time ago. When you listen to it, you will have an exotic feeling, “Wow! This is so very Chinese.” Such music reflects Chinese tradition, history and culture. And also the lifestyle of people in China is shown.(105 words)Q: How important is it for a culture to have musical tradition?Answer:Tradition is history, the cultural past. It’s important for a country to have a musical tradition because it can show how glorious a history the country has. And I think the music of any country has a special tone, and such a tone distinguishes one countryfrom others. So you can be yourself and not other people. This encourages a country’s national pride. And what’s more, since every country has a special kind of music, we put them all together, the world will have more variety and diversity in music. It’s agreat benefit for music lovers, right? (98 words)Q: Why do you think countries have national anthems or song?Answer:I think the primary reason for a country to have a national anthem is the same as when a person needs a name. It shows you’re different from others. And similar to your name, national anthem is also a representation of the country. It’s a musicalsymbol of the nation. This year, the Olympics will be held in Beijing. And national songs are practical because they will be played when an athlete wins a gold medal. It’s a moment of honor and glory. I think in difficult times, such as disasters or wars, national anthems can encourage the citizens of a country. They promote patriotism among people. (107 wds)。

The colossal amount of water cascading down the falls was a mesmerizing sight to behold. The thundering sound it made as it crashed into the rocks below added to the awe-inspiring atmosphere of the place. Moreover, the mist and spray created by the falls created a surreal and dreamlike environment. It was as if I had stepped into a fantasy world. In addition to the waterfalls, the surrounding landscape was equally breathtaking. I remember you said your parents live around here.Man: Oh no, my parents do live in this city, but it’s two hours’ drive from the school, sort of a waste of time, and I’ll get pretty tired.Woman: Then you can rent an apartment near the school, so that you can save on the gas bill.B esides, it won’t get you exhausted.Man: You know the rent near the school, it’s outrageously expensive. The speakers discuss two possible solutions to the man’s problem. That means we can’t live together in the same apartment.Man: Okay, then you can try some luck on campus, as far as I know, some of the dorm rooms on campus are available on some occasions, they might be able to offer yousome place to live in for a couple of days.Woman: Oh really? You can find some friend who owns a car, and he can drive some of the kids.Woman: You know it’s really hard to get someone who can meet the schedule on the weekend. Man: In this case, you can use public transportation to get the kids there, like bus or light rail. Perhapshe would reduce some of the workload if he understands how much you have beenthrough.Woman: I think it sounds good, but I’m afraid Doctor Alba will never like someone who can’t handle the part time job and his study at the same time.Man: Well, then you can try to make yourself a feasible schedule about the courses you are dealing with, since the American literature for the 19th century is the one you are infavor of, and as far as I know, it’s one of the most important courses for art studentsin your department, you should concentrate more on it, like you can participate in theclass activities more, so that you can make a good impression on the professor, youknow, this will make your grades at the end of the semester better.Woman: Well then, maybe you can give me a hand with that. The speakers discuss two possible solutions to the wo man’s problem. Man: Your friends are really nice, but I don’t think I can get someone since it’s on Thursday.Woman: Let me think about it…okay, is there any possibility for you to rent a car or find a friend who owns a car and take the children to the museum with it? You know, I’ve got several final papers to complete and a lab report to submit.Man: I see. I think it’s important for you to realize your dream. Maybe you should talk with some of the professors about the due dates of the papers or the report. They areusually quite considerate and will let you postpone the tasks.Woman: Not for Mrs. Margareta, she’s really strict on the due date. Last semester, she did not even let one of the students in the class do a make-up test.Man: I heard that too, terrible…let me think about it…Uh…ok, I think you can try to be the leader next semester. You can explain that this is just temporary to your classmates, once they know you are hurt. Woman: It sounds good. Then talk to your team director, maybe he can let you spend two semesters finishing the training session. I think the director can understand that. Question:Some college students choose to take courses in a variety of subject areas in order to get a broad education. Others choose to focus on a single subject area in order to have a deeper understanding of that area. Which approach to course selection do you think is better for students and why?TPO2口语Task2参考答案(范文模板):I think that college students should focus on a single subject area because first of all, our society has become so advanced and so complex that you have to be highly skilled in a certain area in order to effectively gain employment after graduation. If you’re just average at everything, you won’t go any where. Secondly, I think that it can also raise your confidence because rather than being just mediocre at many things, you can become one of the best in one thing. Even though it may seem like you’re not as well rounded, you’ll go farther in life because people will look to you for your knowledge and skill.
Task 5主要是关于 Campus situation topic ,属于 summarizing a problem and solutions 这类题型。

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Why or why not? Use details and examples to explain your answer. It is more important to study math or science than it is to study art or literature.
I think that is important to study math and science.
Because first of all, math and science can be used in so many different career fields.
I've worked for many different kinds of companies in my career and one thing that they all had in common was the fact that they required me to have a certain level of mathematical proficiency and computer science training. None of themever asked me to be good at art.
Secondly, studying math and science can help people become more logical.
When I have to make important decisions in life, I base my decision on whether or not it's logical rather than on emotion. I learned my logical thinking by studying math and science and have made better decisions because of it. That's why I think it's more important to study math and science.。
