下面小编为大家带来美国化学专业个人陈述范文。

I have always enjoyed studying Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and I would like the opportunity to continue this study. Chemical Engineering appeals to me because of the challenges involved in the application of scientific theory to practical, real world problems such as how to deal with nuclear waste. I particularly look forward to studying fluid dynamics as I was introduced to this during the Engineering Education Scheme (EES). I am aware that in today’s world chemical engineering has an increasingly important role across a wide range of industries from pharmaceuticals to petrochemicals. The broad range of career paths, and the opportunity to contribute to society through technological innovation, is for me, one of the main attractions of chemical engineering.I have applied to take part in the Year In Industry scheme during which I hope to gain practical experience, as well as greater maturity enabling me to go into my degree course with improved skills and broader experience. I also hope to study e-learning courses on project management and presentation skills run by the IChemE. In Year 12 I took part in the EES, which improved my understanding and skills in team working, time management, and report writing, as well as visual and oral presentation. Throughout the course of the project the team had to frequently correspond with mentors in industry and academiaand this experience has broadened my appreciation of practice and application in a real life situation. In July I attended a week-long ‘Into Engineering’ seminar run by REACT Enginee ring. Working in two teams, we were given a design exercise based upon a typical decommissioning project. I also attended a Headstart course at Newcastle University, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of the main activities was to design, manufacture and test a small crane. I found both of these experiences very challenging, as we were given only limited time so we had to prioritise our tasks and carefully plan our work. This year a fellow student and I were awarded £500 by the European Scholarship Prize to fund a visit to Prague to do research for our A-level History coursework. I gained an understanding of the city’s culture and history and further developed my independence. During the summer I represented my school on a Connexions review of a government white paper on 14-19 education. I gained an insight into the government’s proposals and learned a lot about working with different groups of people. Last year I was part of the editorial team for the school magazine. I wrote a number of articles and I was responsible for ensuring that staff contributions were ready for the deadline. I also enjoy participating in a range of sports and have represented the school at football and cricket, which has further enhanced my team working skills. In my spare time I am working towards my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. In September I completed a 4-day expedition in the Lake District, which tested my endurance but gave me a great sense of achievement. As part of the award I have been helping at the local youth café once a week, which I am really enjoying as it gives me the chance to meet new people.I also enjoy reading, particularly books on physics and Russianhistory. I am really interested in computers and I am currently trying to configure a Linux based file and print server for my home network. For admission to a university in England you have to fill in a form from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). They for a very reasonable fee provide all applicants to unversities and colleges in the UK with a way to apply to up to 6 universities (or multiple courses at, say 3 universities). Part of the form (apart from all the obvious details such as name and address), is half a page where you are asked to write about yourself, your interests and so on. Inevitably you have to make it sound as good as possible, as you're trying to sell yourself to the universities you're applying to...I applied to the universities of Aston, Bath, Bristol, Cambridge, Imperial College London, and Loughborough. All for an MEng (Master of Engineering degree) in Chemical Engineering, except for Bristol where I went for an MEng in Computer Science, so this is tailored towards those courses. Anyway... Here it is. I don't guarantee that you won't get bored! ;-). (NB this was written in the summer of 1999, and is therefore not too current!).Reasons for Course Choice Since beginning secondary school, I've been very interested in Chemistry and Computing. Besides my normal schoolwork I've read around these two subjects. Because I am also very keen on Mathematics and Physics, I want to pursue a degree course that combines all or most of these. Both of my parents are Science/Engineering graduates and they have taught me some of the qualities needed for a degree course in this field. This has encouraged me to find out about the opportunities available. AimsI have applied to several firms for sponsorship while atuniversity and during a gap year, with the intention of getting Engineering-related work experience. This would give me valuable experience for the course at university. I hope to obtain a Master of Engineering degree and become employed in research and development in the oil or food industry. Eventually, I would like to do postgraduate study, and perhaps even teach Chemistry/Engineering. InterestsI play basketball, tennis, volleyball, and I like kayaking. By far my biggest sports interest, however, is orienteering. I've won several trophies for Andalusian and league championships, and I've helped to organise regional orienteering events. I have also designed the database system for my club. My greatest interest outside school is computing. I have done a large amount of web design. I help maintain the computer systems at my father's workplace; and I also do some part time work teaching people on a one-to-one basis how to use their computers. I like writing manuals or "notes" on things related to computers, and have published an article on web design in a small US computer magazine. I have written papers on the use of data-logging and other equipment for my school's science department. This year, I was responsible for laying out my school's entire yearbook using DTP software. Recently, I was employed developing a web site and training staff for an organisation in London. When I have time I play the keyboard, and also do some sound engineering: I used to operate the mixing desk at my local church, as well as help at my parents' workplace, which is a professional recording studio. I enjoy teaching and have given weekly tuition in Maths and English. General PointsI've lived in Spain for 14 years and am fluent in Spanish. In addition, my parents work with North Africans, Middle Easterners,Americans, Spaniards, Britons, and people of other nationalities.I have gained valuable experience growing up with many different cultures around me, and as a result appreciate the difficulties of cross-cultural communication. I have been part of several "King's Kids", teams which perform music and dance all over Spain. This entailed travelling away from home for 3 weeks at a time, and having to work with around 60 other people. I think that this has made me a fairly rounded person, and I therefore feel confident about "fitting in" with people from any culture.。

From the smallest molecule to the most important issues of the modern world, chemistry is fundamental. The burgeoning world energy crisis, for example, will only be solved with the help of Chemistry, and the possibility to be involved in this is an ambition of mine. Studying Chemistry has helped me to further understand this problem and to ask questions like why is hydrogen fuel expensive to produce? And it has helped to answer such questions, i.e. due to the high amount of energy required for the electrolysis of water. Chemistry is also crucial in industry, and new developments can have large economic impacts. This evident vitality, augmented by the deeper understanding of real-world issues gained by further study, is a major incentive to study degree level Chemistry. My interest in Chemistry was consolidated by my work experience at Durham University Chemistry Department. The more advanced Chemistry I was exposed to –in textbooks, discussions and practical work –ensured me that I would be interested in degree level Chemistry. My work mainly consisted of brominating an aromatic, which would produce an intermediate for stem-cell research. This taught me valuable practical skills, such as the use of Schlenk apparatus, column separation and rotary evaporation. Working with a research team made me particularly attracted to courses offering an opportunity to take part in research. Using analytical machinery, such as NMR, on compounds that I had produced excitingly brought what had been theory in a textbook into practical reality. The desire for more of these moments is one of my main motivations for studying Chemistry. In addition, I regularly engage in further reading online, e.g. the Oxford pre-University Chemistry Course. This has expanded my interest in Chemistry beyond the A2 syllabus. At school, I won the prize for AS Chemistry and represented the school in a regional Chemistry competition at Newcastle University, coming runner up. This has added to my confidence with, and commitment to, Chemistry. I also won the prize for AS Mathematics, a subject I enjoy almost as much as Chemistry. My study of Mathematics has increased my understanding and interest in the quantified aspects of Chemistry. I chose to continue History to A2 to develop my analytical and essay writing skills, which would prove especially useful in any broader optional modules taken and with general scientific writing.Cafe Scientifique has given me the opportunity to engage in scientific debate, and being a member of the committee has allowed me to choose topics, such as artificial intelligence and evolution, and run the debates themselves. In addition to this, I have participated in the schoolâ€Ⅲs Debating Society and represented the school in the Cambridge Schools Debating Competition. Expanding on this in a university debating society is something I look forward to. The LINK listening course I completed allowed me to become a school counsellor, and I would welcome an opportunity to become involved in counselling at university. Assembling personal computers is a hobby of mine, and the use of IT in Chemistry intrigues me; so far, I have used applications such as ChemOffice to present homework and view molecules in 3D.My passion for Chemistry stems from an appetite to understand the physical world around me, and I eagerly anticipate the enhancement of understanding that degree level Chemistry will bring.。

美国留学⽣物⼯程专业个⼈陈述范⽂三篇 范⽂⼀ With the approach of new century, the developing China is requiring better trained and more highly educated men and women than ever before in history. In order to make more contributions to the society and, at the same time, satisfy my keen interest in science, I am looking forward to beginning my graduate study. I heard of Case Western Reserve University as early as when I was an undergraduate student. She is one of the most highly regarded universities in the world and is an ideal place for ambitious youth. I plan to study for Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University with special interests in metabolism, macromolecular synthesis, and protein crystal growth. I have had plentiful preparations. First, when being an undergraduate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University, I got very extensive and intensive education. I took many courses on chemistry and the related subjects, and earned high scores for most of them. Second, my major, Polymer, can be put into good use in Biochemistry programs because Polymer is closely related with biological Macromolecule. Third, I have working experience that enriches my theory and laboratory skills. From 1990 to now, I have been engaged as an Assistant Engineer by the Research institute, Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Corporation (RIBYPC). In the first year, I was in charge of a 5-litre reactor for polymerization of Carboxylated Butadiene-Styene Latex. Then I was transferred to another research group to synthesize PET/PHB copolymer, a kin of polyester, which has the property of Liquid Crystal. I am the assistant head of the group. We can prepare the novel polymer with high molecule weight and excellent property in a 2-litre stainless steel reactor. During this monomers, with purity of more than 99.99%; this made my leader very satisfied. More than four years of working experiences expand my capacity. I often make use of NMR, X-ray, DSC and other instrumental methods for research. Among them, I am most skilled in NMR reactors, I have experiences on solving problems of Engineering and Mechanics. What is more, I am familiar with computer operation and some application software. The above information about my specialty may be helpful for you to evaluate me. It is said that the 21st century will be the age of Life Science. I hope to enter the esteemed Case Western Reserve University to face this challenge. I am confident tat I shall be an excellent fellow. After completing my graduate study, I would like to return to my homeland and make use of my knowledge to serve the people. By the way, I would like to give thanks to my parents. Being their oldest son, I am offered the most formal education and the deepest love. I never forget the 18-year’s life with them. Twelve years in the countryside and six years in Shengli Oil Field bestowed me the character of diligence, resolution, and perseverance, as well as the deep love of nature and life. I am also indebted to my dear wife. Without her never-ended encouragement and support in these years, I could not become closer and closer to the gate of the eminent Case Western Reserve University. 范⽂⼆ Knowing where is heading during navigation brings assured happiness. As a student majoring in Biochemistry, I began my odyssey five years ago, when our class had a new biology teacher, who was young and energetic. He taught us in an entertaining way and communicated with us quite well. I liked him very much and was impressed by the knowledge of Biological Sciences. He opened new doors to the realm of Biology in my life. And with time being, I feel more and more sure about my destination. Although the trail of navigation has not always been definitely straight, I believe it leads me to my dream. Because of my excellent performance in the National Olympic Mathematics Contest of High School Students in 1994 and my outstanding academic record in senior high school, I had the opportunity to be admitted to Peking University or Tsinghua University, two most selective universities in China, waived of the Admission Examination. But if I took the chance, I couldn’t select biological sciences as my major. So I gave up the precious chance and took the Admission Examination. I succeeded and was admitted by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Peking University, which ranks first in biological science education and research in China and has raised many scholars including members of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In the first three years in university, my curriculum has a broad range, covering both natural and humanity sciences, as well as putting emphasis not only on biological sciences but also on closely related courses. I have dedicated my energy to my study and have received a complete, profound and strict training in biological sciences with the combined strength of individual and professors' help. Playing basketball is also a solid part of my campus life. I am an activemember in the basketball team of the College of Life Sciences in Peking University. As a point guard, the organizer of the team's attack, I have learned to make the five players to be a strong group in a game. Last year, we ranked the third in Peking University Cup among the thirty-six teams. This experience endows me a strong sense of responsibility, confidence and team-working spirit. To be a successful scientific researcher requires not only academic potential but also independent research ability. A student will develop capability for independent research by working closely with a scholar. For this reason, I entered the National Laboratory of Protein Engineering and Plant Genetic Engineering and participated the Group of Protein Structure and Function. Now I cooperate with two graduate students, one of whom will go to the Harvard Medical School to continue his research work. Our ultimate goal is to develop a new thrombolysis drug, which is supported by the National 863 Hi-Tech Planning. (Please check Research Experience for detail.) By the three months here, I have been able to do many experiments independently and have obtained serious attitude and cooperation in scientific work. I have a sublime dream to be one equipped with exceptional experiment skills in addition to advanced scientific and technological knowledge. In my mind Pennsylvania State University is an ideal place to purse the graduate study, which is intellectually exhilarating and challenging. I respect your rigorous scientific approach, original idea and outstanding achievements. I am eager to join a group in which I can make the best use of my capabilities and combine my personal intelligence with group cooperation to full-fill the group’s benefit as well as to make my dream come true. The Department of Pharmacology is definitely this type. With the fast development in the field of life sciences, human is getting more and more interested in probing into the nature of life itself and every great achievement in the study of life is sure to put light to our understanding of ourselves and to benefit our people and society as a whole. The field of Pharmacology has particular importance to serve man’s purpose above. A scientist of Pharmacology is not only a researcher, but also the creator of the future world. I think the challenging Pharmacology is the most suitable field for me to begin my graduate study, which is more than a continuation of undergraduate study and is of not only a matter of greater knowledge. The aim of it is to prepare students to enter a profession in which the knowledge is put into daily use. I am interested in the field of signal pathway in tumor formation. Several professors' research impressed me, including Dr. Mulder and some other professors. After obtaining my Ph.D., I plan to do research work in an institution either domestically or overseas. I believe that such a position provides the largest room in which I can make the most enthusiastic dedication to the world of sciences. I believe the advanced courses, distinguished faculty and the best-equipped laboratories of your group will help me make the desired achievements. With the conviction that I can sustain me through the intense graduate study, I have made the decision to apply for Pennsylvania State University and hope your serious consideration.。

My four-year research experience since the completion of my undergraduate program in 1997 has helped me to develop from a Bachelor in Engineering to a Master in Science. My research activities cover a wide range of fields including analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, organic catalysis, environmental science, instrumental analysis, nano-analytical chemistry, and biological analytical chemistry. I am proud to say that I have accomplished achievements in almost every of those fields. Based on my research findings, I have published a dozen research papers. In particular, I have received patents from the Patent Office of China for two major research results "The Preparation Method of a Solid Acid Catalyst with High Selectivity and Activity for Esterification" and "A New Reaction Technology and the Equipment for Gas Phase Esterification". Both of them have significant value in industrial application.Nevertheless, I am acutely aware that, in the research fields I am interested in, there are still so many difficult subjects and challenges awaiting for solution. In physical chemistry, China is relatively backward in the fields of catalyst development, catalyst inactivation, reaction dynamics, reaction mechanism, geochemical reaction mechanism, environmental-chemical reaction mechanism. In analytical chemistry, China lags relatively behind its Western counterparts in areas such as instrumental analysis and theoretical analytical chemistry. Basically, China relies on import for large-scale analytical instruments. By contrast, the United States has many world-leading academic specialists and encourages interdisciplinary programs. It will accord me a stimulating and liberal academic environment, apart from the sophisticated research facilities. Rice University is my top priority in applying for a Ph.D. program and I choose to specialize in physical chemistry or in analytical chemistry. At Rice University, I plan to learn broader-based foundational theories in my chosen fields. With my solid interdisciplinary knowledge and my ability for the quick assimilation of new knowledge, I intend to secure for myself a RA status to directly start my laboratory research under the guidance of my future advisor. I can also work as TA so that I can study while teaching and conducting my internship. I can apply, test and consolidate the theoretical knowledge that I acquire in the process of internship and degree program. Finally, through theoretical study and scientific research, I would endeavor to produce a well-written dissertation in which I hope to achieve some breakthroughs on both the theoretical and the research level. After obtaining my Ph.D. degree, I intend to enter one of the top research institutes to delve deeper into some challenging subjects and to achieve some research fruits. After accumulating certain research experience at an actual research institute, I plan to return to China to work as a professor at a leading Chinese university, a position which will enable me to train many more academic professionals in physical or analytical chemistry. At the same time, I will also dedicate myself to turning my laboratory research results into yet more patents and inventions, which can further be developed into products with pragmatic applications.During my studies in the United States, I will attempt at some detailed observations of its capital market, the most mature of its kind in the world, to acquire some necessary knowledge in company management and capital operation. For ultimately my career objective is to establish my own company to manufacture my own products, especially those environmentally-friendlychemical products, based on my patents and inventions.。

I have always been fascinated by the profession of chemical engineering because I am interested in how raw materials are made into the things which we are dependant on, our wants and needs in everyday life and at the same time we have to consider the health and safety issues. They also have to be cost fective and their production processes needs to be as less harmless as possible to our surroundings and ourselves. As we are producing more of the desirable products, we also have to consider the waste issues, unwanted by-products and what needs to be done to recycle the energy in the processes.I am studying Maths, chemistry and economics which are giving me the skills needed to become a successful engineer as I am improving my numeric skills with the understanding of the rate of reactions and how they have to be cost fective considering the demand & supply analysis at the same time.I first came across chemical engineering at a Summer School at Manchester University where I was in Science & Engineering Strand but found chemical engineering the most interesting and appealing and found out that _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ __.I have attended Maths Presentations and courses at University of Manchester which I really enjoyed and developed on my problem solving ability and adapting my knowledge to new and challenging situations beyond the scope of my school work. I have always had an interest in science-based subjects, especially those relating to biology. Whilst undertaking my A-level Biology course, the module energy and ecosystems was of particular interest to me. My interest in the natural world, and study of science encouraged me to further my understanding in this area by applying to study environmental biology at degree level. I wish to take this course to enable me to develop scientific skills that will provide me witha greater understanding of the environment and factors that affect it. I am also studying Chemistry and Maths at A-level. The practical element of my chemistry course involves an understanding of procedures and precautions necessary throughout all science-based experiments; I feel that this understanding will improve my ability in practical elements of the course. After studying A-level maths, I feel being able to interpret numerical data at a high level will also enable me to develop my understanding of any numerical information that features inthe courseI am keen on sports and outdoor pursuits. I have enjoyed a range of activities from countryside walks to kayaking and abseiling. Because of this I feel I would particularly enjoy the fieldwork the course offers. I have been able to bine this interest in sport with a part time job as a leisure attendant at local sport centres. As part of this post I was asked to lead a youth sports and activities group which aims to promote sport among young people in my area. This activity has also allowed me to introduce other young people to activities that I have enjoyed. This role has also helped me to develop skills that would help me while I am at university. The sports group involves arranging individual sessions as well as trips outThis has improved my organisational skills, which has reflected my ability to bine part-time work with college effectively. Working as part of a team and serving members of the public has also improved my social skills, making me more confident when working with othersI wish to study at university, not only for the knowledge that I will gain from the course, but alsofor the experience of university life has to offer. During my two years at college I have participated in various activities. For example, I represented the college at an open day, volunteered as a collage council representative for my form group, participated in a blood donation scheme and was also involved in the shoebox appeal. These activities meant that I have to be confident, approachable and polite. I feel these are characteristics that will enableme to get involved with student life at universityMy ambition is to participate in conservation work abroad, before gaining experience in a career based in this area. I feel the experience outlined above and the knowledge I will gain from the course will enable me to achieve this ambition.Personal Statement Sample - biology生物20XX-10-10 11:22:42 阅读563 评论0 字号:大中小As with science in general, I find it interesting, often fascinating, and I feel that I could gain much from studying it at university University has always appealed to me because of the wealth of experiences it has to offer as a student. Although I enjoy English Literature and Chemistry: I am especially keen to study Biology and Psychology. For me, the main appeal of the course lies in the variety of topics that will be covered. The aspects of Biology I find particularly interesting are neuroscience and how the immune system functions and responds. In Psychology, I am very interested in what makes people unique and how different factorsshape our personalityAt present I am employed at McDonald's where within one year of work I got promoted to a Floor Manager. Then I rapidly got promoted as a shift Manager. Being at this position it gives me numerous of responsibilities. For instance I am responsible for the whole resturant, ensuring the good munication flow exists between the crew members, correct procedures are followed, restaurant goals are achieved and ensuring that every customer gets 100%customer satisfactionThis experience especially allowed me to use my interpersonal skills to the full. In my reference, my employer remarked on my willingness to learn, my enthusiasm and initiative as well as my ability to work independently and as part of a teamI have a variety of hobbies outside school. When time allows, I find playing football, tennis, and listening music, a change from my studies. My other pursuits include more physical activitiessuch as attending the gym, dancing and cyclingAt present, I am putting most of my effort into achieving the best grades in my 'course to allow me to reach the next target in my education. I understand that university life will be very challenging, but I am confident that it will give me the best chance to achieve my potential, and lead the way forward to a successful career. I hope that this application indicates that I am apromising candidate.Personal Statement - Bioengineering生物20XX-10-10 11:21:41 阅读364 评论0 字号:大中小"Scientists investigate that which already is. Technologists create that which has never been."I chose engineering as a life pursuit because I wish to engage in both. This choice was enhanced by a personal yearning to apply all that I learn; I wanted to be able to implement my physical and mathematical abilities in real life situations. I feel higher education would enableme to realise this aim.Although all aspects of physics and engineering intrigue me, I am particularly interested in the medical application of these two disciplines. When considering which field I might enter I realised that the only discipline that appealed to me, other than engineering, was medicine.Having researched the crossover between medicine and engineering I decided thatbioengineering provided the perfect blend. In order to improve my grasp of A-level Physics and Mathematics, and develop a better understanding of the options available to me in Higher Education, I have made extensive use of the online lectures of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I was particularly receptive to the teaching methods of the Physics lecturer, Professor Lewin.Supplementary reading has widened my horizons and encouraged me to examine elements above and beyond the A-level course. Some of the books I have encountered include 'A Brief History of Time' by Stephen Hawking and also 'Mr. Tompkins in Wonderland' by Nobel Prize winner, George Gamow. The latter was more than simply 'a physics book' to me - the presentation of the physical principals within a love story proved to be extremely captivating.Following the debate regarding students' declining abilities and the 'dumbing down' of the A-levels I have undertaken a study of material from the older, and in my opinion more challenging, 1996 syllabus. Books such as 'Essential Principles of Physics' by Whelan and Hodgson have been particularly enlightening in this respect.I feel that theoretical concepts are easier to understand and more easily absorbed when they are tangible and therefore I have applied to the Year in Industry scheme, hoping that this will enhance the application of my mathematical and physical skills. Due to personal issues during the A-level exam period I was unable to achieve my potential and did not meet all my predicted grades. In order to amend this I have chosen t o retake some modules during my gap year whilst at the same time studying a new subject and expanding my language skills.I consider that my multicultural upbringing, including 12 years in Japan, Dubai and the Sudan have led to me being a well-rounded and colourful person. As a consequence of this time I benefited by gaining knowledge about different traditions, an insight into diverse cultures, anda furtherance in my linguistic abilities. This granted me the ability to adapt to different environments swiftly and fortably, which would explain my enthusiasm for meeting new people. Moreover, the contrast in the living standards in these different environments has shown me the importance of science and technology in our lives.Professionals have confirmed for me that bioengineering is an intellectually challenging field, requiring mitment and motivation. I have always believed in fully devoting myself to all that I do,and with my particular interests and experiences, I feel that only an opportunity to study bioengineering at university will enable me to express my abilities in their entirety.生物个人陈述模板生物20XX-09-17 10:32:31 阅读344 评论1 字号:大中小I will never forget my experience of working alongside doctors to fight against the horrible disease, AA, in China in 200X. This work taught me the great impact of disease control and prevention and motivated me to apply for the biostatistics program at Yale University, with the ultimate career goal of being an influential professional or researcher in the field. I firmly believe that my constant thirst for knowledge, high regard for the work in the biomedical and public health fields, and my courageousness will drive my graduate studies and help me achieve personal and professional success.I first became interested in biostatistics when the AA epidemic breakout in China in 200X. As a memberof the University Red Cross Association, I was responsible for assisting the university hospital to publicize disease prevention methods, distribute medicine, and plete health surveys. I learned from that process the value of survey dates in supplying useful strategies for disease prediction, prevention and control. Afterward, when I served as Vice President of the Student Union, I organized an introductory lecture and health survey about hereditary disease for the local munity. I truly enjoyed these voluntary public health services, as I was able to use my knowledge to enhance the quality of life for my fellow man. These achievements gave me the determination to fully devote myself to public health services andglobal health care development. My academic training to this point has provided me with a wide range of general knowledge and skills related to the biological sciences. This training is an excellent first step in preparing for the professional career that I desire. As an undergraduate student in bioengineering at BB University, I acquired a solid foundation in the theoretical concepts associated with genetics, molecular biology, immunology, and biochemistry. I also gained knowledge in the several areas of industrial significance, includingbio-products, fermentation, and biotechnology. In addition to the prehensive studies in my major field, I received as well extensive training in mathematics and puter science, both of which were of great benefit to my study of biostatistics, an important area in various industrial and scientific research efforts. For example, as I learned during my summer internship as an Assistant Researcher at the DD Pharmaceutical pany in 200Y, biostatistics has a vital role in the development and marketing of new medicines, in the control of the quality of products, and in the tracking of consumer trends, attitudes and purchases. I have also worked as an undergraduate research assistant for a map-based cloning project in the ZZ Biology Center, where I used statistical methods to develop WW genetic markers and to calculate the probabilities of rebination. These hands-on training activities gave me a clearerunderstanding of and a deeper insight into the biostatistics of biological and clinical problems.I look forward t o furthering my knowledge of biostatics at Yale University. Indeed, I believe that Yale’s dynamic environment coupled with the emphasis placed on both statistics theory and real-life biological issues in the biostatics program will prepare me well to stand out in future petition. Therefore, my well considered decision to choose your program will certainly help me realize my dreams. I am confident thatwith Yale’s beneficial guidance and training, I will be well on the way to being a noted professional in th earea of public health.bioengineering personal statement生物20XX-09-16 23:43:57 阅读228 评论0 字号:大中小1. Tough memories played a key role in my decisionI am determined to pursue graduate studies engineering in a large part because both of my grandmothers died because the hospitals did not have the facilities to give them prompt diagnosis and effective treatment. My paternal grandmother suffered from cancer, but he doctor did not know it was cancer until was already to late. A few years later, my maternal grandmother passed away because of a sudden heart attack. To this day, my mother’s words at her funeral till echo in my ears:“If only she could wear a portable monitor for heart disease, and if only there was a portable cardiac pacemaker in theambulance.”On the strength of my strong performance in the 1994 National University Entrance Examinations, I won acceptance into the Tsinghua University, China’s top engineering school. Without any hesitation, I chose to major in biomedical engineering in its Department of Electrical Engineering. In making that choice, I hoped that, one day, I could be more of a help to patients than doctors, since a doctor treats patients one at a time, but the more effective medical devices I develop can help many people all the time.2. My solid academic recordWith a clear objective in my mind, I made myself a “gifted student” recognized by the department. In my class of 32 students, I was consistently a top student. My GPA for basic courses was 3.75/4.0 and my GPA for specialized courses was as high as 3.87/4.0. In my second year in Tsinghua University, my academic ranking and prehensive ranking were both the highest in my class, and I was awarded the first ranking excellent student scholarship that year. I was particularly strong in mathematics and physics, which I took as fundamental to every branch of science and technology.3. My independent research abilityAs a recognized gifted student, I was one of the first students in my year to be given the opportunity of taking part in actual research. In July 1996, I joined the research group for biomedical instrumentation and signal processing, led by Professor Cheng Jiajie, a noted Chinese term EEG signals. A joint project between Professor Cheng and the National Research Center for Engineering and Technology on Appliance for Medical Treatment and Health Care, the system was to consist of two sub-systems. One was for sampling and recording the EEG and other physiological signals, and the other was for reviewing and analyzing the signals. I was involved in the development of both.I first built a double-T band-stop filter network for ultra-weak signals to serve as an essential part of the EEG hardware. As brain waves are extremely weak signals, only from tens to hundreds microvolt, the whole system, including the filter network, had to meet extremely stringent standards. I designed the circuit and its ponents meticulously. After painstaking efforts, I successfully set up the filter network. After that, professor Cheng assigned me to perfect the clinical EEG software in recognition of my puterskills. In a Windows-based EEG review and analysis software system, I integrated various functions of automatic and manual data scrolling, annotation, grouping, montage, block marking, data discarding and transferring into diskette, filter design and filtering, press spectrum array, brain electrical activity map, power spectrum estimation, twelve quantity EEG analysis and statistics. This cleared away a major hassle for doctors working in the hospitals. The software system also adopts background data loading and re-sampling of da ta while displaying to speed up the scrolling process and reduce the doctors’waiting time.Through this project, I was solidly trained in independent research, much more so than most of myclassmates.4. Extracurricular activitiesI was a good student not just because I studied well but also because I actively involved myself in avariety of activities. In these activities, I not only honed my leadership and munication skills but also acquired a pioneering spirit and the ability to do teamwork. For much of my undergraduate studies, I served as a member of the student union council. In 1995 and 1996, I was elected the monitor of my class. Under my leadership, my class was chosen “A Class of Good Academic Atmosphere”, a designation given to only the best group of students. To take advantage of my leadership and munication skills, the department appointed me a counselor to first-year students in the school year between September 1996 to July 1997. In this position, I advised the freshmen on thechoice of courses and adaptation to the university life.Interested in the cultural and recreational activities, I helped to organize, in 1995, the First Beijing Opera petition in Tsinghua University. In December 1996, I organized and participated in making the first music video for our class as our contribution to the department’s art festival, and it won a second prize. What I like to emphasize is that I was one of the founders of the Biomedical Club in our department. The purpose of it is to spread knowledge and exchange ideas in the rapidly developing biomedical world. During the past three years, we successfully fulfilled our goal by means of regular seminars as well asvisits to various academic institutions and hospitals.I became even more active in extracurricular activities after m third undergraduate year. In January 1997, I went on a trip to ShenZhen, China’s first and most successful “special economic zone”, as part of a social investigation group. The far-reaching economic and technical reforms taught me a lot outside my discipline. From June to August 1998, u worked in the IBM China Research Laboratory on localization and system testing for IBM WorkPad Chinese Applications. It was an extraordinary experience for me. I not only tested myself in real research, but also I learned about advanced technology and thinking. During this time, I attended the IBM Research Summer Jam 98, which was an event for IBM Research’s supplemental and summer student employees to get together and explore the future of puting. My creativity displayed in this Summer Jam won acclaim from IBM Senior Vice President Dr. Paul Horn.I believe that the team spirit, munication skills and other qualities I acquired in thee activities will beconducive to advanced research in an American university.5. Solid mand of EnglishAlthough not an English major, my English proficiency is parable to that of English majors in Chinese universities, as demonstrated by my high grades in both TOEFL and GRE. I do not just know the English language well. I can municate as effectively in English as I do in Chinese. I believe that good munication and writing skills are indispensable to a successful researcher or engineer. My TWE score is 5.5, which is especially high for Chinese students, and my oral English is good, too, as I have many a chance to talk with my parents’ foreign colleagues and exchange different ideas and information with them when they e to China. I will take TSE this October and I am confident that I will get another high score.6. Why I decide to pursue my study abroad?Although studying in Tsinghua University has solidly grounded me for an engineering career, I have for long felt the urgency and responsibility to study abroad. From my personal experience, I realize, frankly speaking, tha t China’s biomedical engineering is not yet developed enough. I remember that, in September 1997 when I went to Beijing Recovery Center for “social investigation”, I found all the advanced recovery and nurse appliances displayed and used there were made abroad and the expenses were too high for ordinary people. To give you another example, the EEG system currently made in China for clinical use requires electrode check-up before operation. This always brings patients suffering because the nurses have to rub the electrode heavily on their scalp for about half an hour for ideal location. One day, a professor there brought us an EEG system imported from California, U.S.A. This system not only solves the old problem, but also sets up a new detecting function for brain’s cognitionability. From these and other things, I know that the United State has the advanced technology and thus the original ideas, but China has quality researchers like me who can learn to do as well. I feel that I have not taken the full advantage of my intellectual capabilities. I wish to pursue more advanced studies and then improve my country’s biomedical situation. Only by doing this can I feel better when I recall my childhood memories, memories of my grandmothers dying needlessly. Only by doing this can I fulfil my ultimate aim to make biomedical appliances part of everybody’s life, to help provide ordinary people correct and timelytreatment and care for their illness.I have inherited from my parents’ intellectual qualities. My father, a professor of Physics at the Beijing University, and my mother, a senior engineer of Physics with the Chinese academy of Sciences. Have bestowed on me the character of diligence, resolution and perseverance as well as the ability to understand new things quickly. They have both been to several universities in U.S.A. as visiting scholars. So when I was young, I had some knowledge of universities in United States. My older brother pursued his graduate studies in MIT, where he obtained a Master of Science Degree in physics in 1992 and a Ph.D. in the Division of Health Sciences and Technology in 1996. By realizing his achievement, he has givenme tremendous encouragement and confidence because I know that I am as excellent as he is.7. I think Cornell University is an ideal place for me.Graduate studies should be both intellectually exhilarating and challenging. But to decide which university to attend is one of the biggest decisions in one’s life. Keeping these in mind, I consider Cornell University as my First Choice. A world-famous top-notch university, Cornell has a world-class faculty, advanced research facilities and a stimulating academic atmosphere, all very conducive to the development of my potential into actual ability. If I am accepted, I will Instrumentation and Diagnostics as well as Biomedical Mechanics. My solid academic foundation, independent research ability and strong background in biomedical engineering and related subjects, coupled with my determination and strong sense of responsibility, have paved the way for me to undertake advanced studies at an institution ofhigher learning like yours.生物学个人陈述生物20XX-09-07 08:36:18 阅读224 评论0 字号:大中小Why should I select biology as my career? Born in a medical family for generations, I was very interested in all over around, especially in living organisms and I came into a habit of watching, touching, feeling and protecting them who bee my favorite friends later. Life science is much more intriguing and fascinating to me when I made endeavor to represent Shandong Province 400,000 high-school students to go to Beijing to take part in the National Biological Olympic Context, a Pick-Out for the International Biological Olympic Context. As a result, I selected Biotechnology, the foremost interesting field in Biology, as my college major when I won acceptance into Department of Biotechnology in the College of Life Science at Peking University, the best university of China.Upon acceptance to Peking University in 1996, I was awarded consecutive scholarships for all 4 years in college. During my college years, with the systematic education, I obtained a solid academic background in chemistry and basic biology science especially in experiment skills as a preparation for future advanced research, which is also, the basis for me to do my current research project at the lab.Due to my outstanding experiment skills, in the third year of my undergraduate study, I was remended to the State Key Lab of Microbial Resource, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Science, which only 2% the students can get in, to do research on the structure and character of a new family of DNA-Binding Protein from the Hyperthermophilic Archaeon Sulfolobus Shibatae(extreme environment). And independently I have been dedicating in the interaction between DNA and DNA-Binding Protein by Gel Retardation Assay, Nick Closure Assay and EMSA. This project provided me with not only considerable experiment experience including bacterial culture, expression of rebinant, and western blotting etc, but also how to plan an experiment, by consulting papers, seeking optimal conditions and selecting appropriatemethods. Now my partners and I have made a great achievement of this project and we have a paper, “A Highly Conserved DNA-Binding Protein from the Hyperthermophilic Archaeon Sulfolobus Shibatae Affects DNA Supercoiling in a Temperature-Dependent Fashion”, which will be published in the NUCLEIC ACIDS RESEARCH(4.488) in the nearer future.Furthermore, I have once, as a co-operator, helped other group investigate Archaeon ssh7 DNA binding protein and DNA interaction. With the experiment process, I am proficient in PCR and RT-PCR, southern and northern blotting, cell in-situ blotting, CsCl density gradient centrifuge, expression of rebinant protein, FPLC, protein purification and protein/enzyme activity assay, etc.In addition to academic studying and lab training, I benefit much from my college life. I joined the Green Life Association, one of the best student organizations in Peking University, and had been the minister of propagation for one year. The job has deepened my love for lives and improved my responsibility both for group and for the well-being of our earth. Moreover, all the many-sided pleasant experiences and excellent records are a great treasure to me, giving me high confidence and independence. Why to go abroad to pursue Ph.D.? I’m always thinking that the research of life sciences is not only interdisciplinary but also international. Besides the advanced technology, I hope to fuse the analytic way of the east and west. So I’d like to go abroad for advanced studies after m y graduation in July of 2000. And besides, it is to make more research achievement in the life science and at the same time, fulfill my keen dream of standing on the foremost frontline in biology science. Why to choose your University as my graduate school? It is that she is one of the most highly regarded universities in the world and is an ideal place for ambitious youth. Why to select your program? With my experiment skills and broad academic background, I am more and more certain that I am well prepared for the further exploration into your respected program, which is very promising in the modern biology. D. program, I am seeking to fulfill a dream in my childhood, to be a great scientist. This dream encouraged me to read a lot of books on many disciplines, since my primary school time. Although my parents had to work abroad much of the time from then on and had no time to look into my study, I had never been slack, for the dream gave me a pressure to do my best in study. In the meanwhile, my talent in mathematics helped me excel my classmates and gain outstanding grades. Besides my excellent grades in school, I won remarkable scores in various contests in Beijing and a few national contests on mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc. Moreover, from 1993 to 1998, I won the Shupin Scholarship several times based on my excellent score. When I was in high school, I came to realize the great potential of life sciences. As we all know, mankind can go up to outer space or down to the bottom of the ocean, and predict the movement or state of a huge planet or an infinitesimal particle. Yet we can’t explain a lot of phenomena about ourselves or various lives around us, because lives are the most plicated systems in the world. I am sure that to explain these phenomena is what a great scientist should do, and just what I wish to do.Therefore, when I was about to take the National College Entrance Examination, I chose the college of Life Sciences in Peking University, the most famous university in China, which is dubbed as China's Harvard by President Clinton on his visit to my country. In the university, I studied at the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, which required its students to have a great ability to learn and research. With the study of a series of courses, I obtained a solid academic background in chemistry and basic biology. At the same time, I learned many skills of both general chemistry experiments and specialized biology research. From lab courses, I experienced all kinds of experiments for DNA, protein and microbe’s research and analysis. However, I realized that I need more practical experience before I step on the way to be a scientist. To enhance my research ability, I have been working as a research assistant since July 2000 in the Laboratory of Molecular Virology & Bioengineering at the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for a project on the regulation of cotton fertility in plant heterosis, which is part of the National High Technology Research & Development Program (the “863 Program”), and have got great progress in the work of clone, absence and analysis of promoter’s function on the specific expressed gene in。

Excited by the idea of becoming a scientist since I was a small child, my interests in pursuing graduate studies intensified during my undergraduate education and my research experience. Rather than discouraging me with the tremendous amount of work and demands for creativity, my college years motivated me to earn a Ph.D. and to continue pursuing a career as a research scientist. Although my exact research goals have yet to be refined, my interests include studying the genetic basis of disease and the genetic mechanisms that govern various cellular processes, such as the cell cycle, apoptosis, and tumor formation.Although I entered college without a clear research direction, the Biotechnology Program at Rochester Institute of Technology helped develop my interest in the field of Genetics. I found much of my laboratory training at RIT to be extremely rewarding. For example, one experience that earlyon convinced me to seriously consider genetics was a project involving the construction and characterization of a recombinant plasmid. Since I worked independently for the most part, the project played a key role in increasing my confidence and helping me to understand various concepts pertaining to genetic analysis. It was this experience that motivated me to seek a position as a teacher's assistant for a course in Microbial and Viral Genetics. As a TA, I learned how demanding the teaching situation is and how much teaching a course can contribute to my own learning. By this time, after discovering my passion for research and the joy of teaching, I began to seriously contemplate graduate schools. To excel in graduate school, I decided I would not limit my Experience to my formal education at RIT. Instead, I wanted the opportunity to explore my career options to make a well-informed decision as to the area of my future research. With these goals in mind, I chose to take advantage of RIT's Cooperative Education Program, which meant earning my Bachelor's degree in five years instead of four. In December of 1999,Astra Arcus USA Pharmaceuticals hired me as a research assistant in the Electro physiology department. At Astra, I learned research techniques not taught by RIT. Forthe past year, I have been working with a subset of neuronal glutamate receptors via voltage clamping on Xenopus oocytes. The research of our lab is geared toward the study of central nervous system diseases. Working with Astra and earning an education in biotechnology from RIT sparked my interest in learning more about the genetic basis of disease. On a personal level, I've gained quite a bit from my cooperative experience. Confident in my ability to adapt to new environments and learn techniques that I have never encountered, I have also learned a great deal about the nature of private-sector research and the lifestyle of the researchers. Familiar with the amount of dedication and hard work essential to project advancement, I am more focused on my goal of becoming an excellent researcher than I ever have been. No stranger to the frustration and disappointment inherent in research work, I am spurred on by the thrill of discovery. I find a great deal of enjoyment working in research and plan to stay at Astra through the summer of 2005.I feel that my course work as a Biotechnology major at RIT and my research experience at Astra have adequately prepared me for graduate study. Eager to continue myeducation and improve upon my weaknesses, I am particularly interested in becoming more familiar with emerging technologies relating to genetics and in gaining more exposure in working with eukaryotic genomes. Most importantly, I want to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to design and perform research according to my interests in genetics and disease. With these broad interests and specific goals, I am very attracted to the Graduate Program in Genetics at Duke University. With great flexibility in choosing a degree, the program would suit me well. At Duke, I would welcome the opportunity to explore my interests in Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Pharmacology, and Cancer Biology. I am also interested in learning more about possible involvement with the Duke Center for Human Genetics. My motivation to succeed is reflected in both my academic standing and my dedication to research. I feel that these attributes, combined with a profound interest in the Biological Sciences, will ensure me success as a graduate student at Duke University.。

Currently a student of chemistry at the Beijing Normal University, I am scheduled to graduate in June 1998 with a B. S. degree. The university has offered,on the basis of my outstanding academic record, to exempt me from the usually mandatory examinations for graduate studies, should I decide to join its M. S. program. After weighing all the pros and cons,I now prefer to pursue my graduate studies with your university,as I think it will put me on better footing for my career. My interest in science in general and chemistry in particular was first fostered by my family, which has,for several generations, been made up of professionals. My grandfather graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Doctoral degree in engineering, a highly unusual accomplishment for a citizen of mainland China in those years. My father, a professor of mathematics, was my main source of inspiration during the three years when I studied with the Beijing Mathematics Olympic School. My mother, a senior engineer of chemical engineering, was the motivation behind me as I participated in a variety of scientific activities such as the Solar Energy Club. Such a family environment has bestowed on me a gift for natural science that I have never failed to take advantage of. It has been my dream to become an outstanding expert in the field of chemistry.Since I entered into the university over three years ago, I have studied diligently and conscientiously. With that,I have acquired a solid background in chemistry, mathematics andphysics. With an overall GPA of 92. 29/100, I have, for three years running, kept myself as the very top student among the 114 undergraduates of my grade. I have not confined myself to my coursework, however. I have frequented the library and probably read more chemistry literature than most of other students. By satisfying my thirst for more knowledge,I have kept myself abreast of the new developments in chemistry around the world. I have also excelled in mastering foreign languages. Although I have never majored in the study of any particular language, my English proficiency has been improved to a point where it is comparable to that of most English majors in Chinese universities, and for that,I have been exempted from having to take an English course in the upper years. In recognition of my consistent excellence, I have been awarded the First-Class Excellent Academic Scholarship for three year.Education at the Beijing Normal University emphasizes the importance of hands-on experience. In the summer of 1995, I joined Professor Tian's team to work o the synthesis of inorganic materials. In 1996, professor Guo made me a member of his research team, which gave me good exposure to unsymmetrical synthesis. I am now carrying out (sophisticated)experiment under the direction of Dr. Wang. Through these arrangements,I have gained good experiences in laboratory research and greatly improved my skills for scientific experimentation. Starting from the beginning of next semester,I will be writing my graduation paper under the seasoned guidance of professor (zhong kexue), a research fellow from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. As the Beijing Normal University specializes in training teachers, I have also taken quite a number of general educationcourses, such as phycology, pedagogy and teaching methods. And earlier this year,I was awarded the Excellent Teaching Assistantship for my outstanding performance during the internship at a high school.I did not allow my heavy load of study to deter me from taking part in extracurricular activities. As the chair of the charity survives committee on campus,I honed my organizing skills and augmented my work efficiency. Convinced that the meaning of life comes from helping others,I have always been most obliging whenever anyone comes to me for help, which has won me lots of friends. Such personality, combined with my intellectual vigor and determination, should stand me ready for any challenges.I am applying for acceptance into your program because I know that your country has leading the way in the development of chemistry, and I would like to put myself on the cutting edge of the field. I believe that your graduate school can offer the kind of academic quality and environment that I need. I am particularly interested in analytical and physical chemistry, as I have been fascinate by both its theoretical foundations and its practical promise. I am also interested in polymer chemistry and environmental chemistry. The completion of graduate studies with your program will not only enable me to realize my most cherished childhood dream but also put me in a much better position to serve my country.I would greatly appreciate it if you could give favorable consideration to my application for acceptance and financial aid.。

留学申请个人陈述-生物化学biochemistry Personal Statement

Personal statementI wish to read biochemistry at university because I want to discover the answers to the most profound and fascinating questions about the very essence of life. Some questions are so important but, paradoxically, can be overlooked by many people, for example, why are men naturally more predisposed to genetic conditions than women? My deepening intrest in my A level subjects (and my frustration at the narrowness of the specifications) confirmed my belief that biochemistry is the subject I have to carry forward.I am particularly interested in the origins of phenotypical expressions; how a mutation in one gene can result in dramatic changes in the body. "Nature and Genetics" offered me further insight, beyond what I learnt at GCSE, into a prime example of this occurrence. Huntington's disease results from a mutation in the Huntingtin gene that codes for the protein Huntingtin, leading to variation in the length of the trinucleotide repeat. I wish to understand more about the ways the mutant Huntingtin protein causes a substantial effect on the function of the protein and eventually leads to the disease symptoms.Amino acids are captivating bifunctional compounds; their structure directly contributes to the utility of proteins in our body. Conversely, as technological advances continue, we are now able to synthesise specific amino acids, and tailor them to whichever purpose we intend. They surround our daily routine; an obvious example of this is biological cleaning agents, (Persil) where specific proteins are developed to break down carbohydrates and lipases on clothing. On a recent trip to the University of Aberystwyth, I studied the trends of seaweed species on the west coast of Wales. I focused primarily on the genetic adaptations they have developed to thrive within their niche; finding that often it was the simplest changes in an animal's aesthetics which lead to drastic alterations in their behavioural patterns. This led me to explore further how species become differentiated from oneanother; from simpler issues like the mating of Tungara frogs, to more complex ethical dilemmas such as the speciation of humans. Ethics are an important element in many aspects of biochemical research, and must be considered in the way we develop and test new vaccines and drugs. Although the media seems to be captivated by topics such as animal testing, controversies such as the lack of testing into the long term effects of drugs (thalidomide a clear example) are equally significant.Football plays a fundamental role in my extra-curricular activities. I am an active, member of the school football team, with whom I have played the last two seasons. As a monitor, my role within school is vital. Supervising younger students in the school's library and in the lunch hall has enhanced my familiarity in a leadership position, and given me the responsibility of others. This year I was selected as a vice captain of my house; a position that allowed me to take responsibility for decisions regarding the co-ordination of house activities, including the development of charity projects.Outside school I am an enthusiastic long distance runner; in April I will be running the Blackpool marathon. Although initially I chose to run it to test myself, in light of changing circumstances, it has primarily become an endeavour to raise money for the Bolton Hospice and Christies. As well as being a sportsman, I enjoy attending live music events. This has inspired me to teach myself to play the guitar. At the weekend I work part-time as a sales assistant at Dunelm Mill; equipping me with skills to deal with problems that are both administrative and customer service related. It is my duty to ensure customers receive products on time by using the company ordering, or by communicating with other stores.I am eager to embark into research and biochemical advancement, I await the opportunity to apply my skills and knowledge to a challenging yet rewarding career.。

范文一:Ever since I looked at my first organism down a microscope I have had this arge to know what else is around me that I was not able to see with my naked eyes. The fascination of looking down a microscope and discovering many small organisms living without us knowing their presence makes one want to learn more about them.Know how they survive, how to destroy them,if they are hameful to us, and even know how to prevent them from coming back. This and the fact that there has being a growing number of deaths caused by cancer,a disease am sure that a cure will be found, one can’t stop and see what its doing to peoples lives.I believe studying this course will enable me to be close to finding its cure so as to bring joy to others.I chose to study in the United Kingdom because of its reputation of having the top research institute for diseases, IBMS. Education wise United Kingdom has the top universites of the world. While studying in the United Kingdom I also have a chance to improve my English language by intreracting and communicating with differnt international students from all over the world.I am currently studying a Univesity Foundation Programme at David Game College. I am taking Pure Maths, Statistics, followed by my major modules in Chemistry, Biology, Physics. The course will benefit me to succeed at university. After eventually gaining a Bachelor Degree in BiomedicalScience, this will also enable me in furthering my degree by doing Biomedical Engineering because I find the joining of engineering and life facinating. Both of this courses strongly appeal to me. Not only will both of this courses help me in the way of possibly completing my goal, I believeit will also help me as a person. In my spare time I enjoy reading a good medical mystery noval, drawing whatever I can, I play sports like basketball, football and a bit of tennis now and then.Even though some of my spare time activities do not deal with my course am ready to learn. At being social I would say am average. At times I do visit museums with my sister so as to get a feel of science. In conclusion, I would like to say I am a very ambitious, highly movtivated and enthusiastic person. Am ready for the challenges that are awaiting for me in university. I have the ability to succeed and strive for excellence in everthing I do. Am loking forward to studying this career fulfuliment degree which will enable me to achieve my goal that I know will have an impact on the world.范文二:The human body has always intrigued me, its diverse mechanisms providing complex antibodies that recognize foreign organisms such as viruses and bacteria. It’s these organisms that are working everyday and every night to maintain and sustain the way of life we so frequently take for granted. Its adaptation to this harsh world is quite extraordinary. With the correct medical influence the body may one day be impenetrable to disease. This belief alone inspires me to take on the challenge of medicine. The body still holds many secrets yet to be discovered, this motivates me to learn about the anatomy and physiology in more detail. Not only this, but the compassion and care needed to help patients makes me strive to complete myjourney to medicine. Studying the body’s systems and make up made me realize the fragility of the human body and the huge responsibility a doctor or scientist has. One missed judgment could be fatal. In my AS year I enjoyed Organic chemistry in module 3 the most as it was the most puzzling I had to piece together the answers from complex isomeric compounds to find the correct answers. Biology relates more on the anatomical and physiological side of Biomedicine. I rather enjoyed the circulatory system learning about the mammalian heart and its many fantastic uses. Chemistry and Biology have given me a large insight into the workings of the human body.To learn the complexity of the body and apply it to a patient successfully and to see the gratitude, I would imagine, is highly satisfying in a job like this. The work I need to put in for this career is great and I shall not forget that the rewards are also very great and not only inspiring but encouraging. The greatest challenge of all lies ahead and I look forward to tackling it. I recently went to work at a Dental Surgery. The whole week was spent shadowing the dentist to observe not only his clinical skills but his people skills, how he talked with patients, the safety measures he took to make absolute safety in the surgery. This enhanced my understanding of the health profession greatly and gave me an insight to future procedures in my health career. The year before, I worked in a laboratory for AstraZeneca, a major pharmaceutical company. The company focused on certain diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardio inflammatory infections such as arthritis. My clinical skills were developed greatly as I learnt about a great deal of procedures and tests with agar plates, watching the results of bacteria multiplying. Throughout my time at AstraZeneca I frequently asked questions about a medical career and how thecompany’s involvement fits into the career. I talked to professors, doctors, PhD academics and team leaders gaining useful facts about medicines and clinical skills. They explained procedures for sterilization and how to prevent cross infections by explaining safety measures. Recently I have applied for a full first aid course with a company called Envico (November). My medical skills will be improved greatly as the course covers the basics on treatment to minor and a few major injuries. In December I will be attending a course at Imperial College, London. The course will provide a vital in sight to a career in health sciences as I will be taking part in lectures giving detailed explanations. In my own time I keep up to date with medical developments, I read the ‘New Scientist’ which I find to be very interesting at times. I am applying to my local hospital for voluntary work for more experience. I will be working one day a week shadowing doctors and watching different procedures that they go through. My subjects related to medicine are chemistry and biology. Both requiring me to maintain and hold a lot of information and apply it to complex questions.I look forward to studying at degree level and I am committed to a career that improves the health of others。

美国生物化学专业个人陈述范文Personal StatementChina is a country that pays so much attention and emphasis on education. Elementary School for a starter, following the Junior Middle School, Senior Middle School, College, Graduate School and etc., every student must receive a series of strict and systematic academic training before he really can be put to good use in society. Children’s education plays a very important role in family life too. Parents put so much expectation on their children, and give all they can to shape their children prodigies. Expectation is a two-edged sword: on the one hand, it brings students a strong backup and good surrounding for study that their parents never had; but on the other hand, expectation also means much pressure and rigor. Meanwhile, the pressure does not only come from the family. The competition within schools is so intense thatevery entering a higher school is like a war – fighting for the opportunities to enter best schools. In the last eleven years, I have been growing under such a background. When I was at the age about to enter elementary school, like all the parents under the sun, my mom and dad believed that I deserved the very best from the beginning. So they worked so hard on getting me into the best elementary school of the city. But unfortunately, due to the entering-the-nearest-school rule for primary school prospective students, I finally got into the one that was two blocks away from our house – a mediocre elementary school. To mom and dad, it was all along a big pity that I couldn’t have the best education. But deep in my mind I decided to make up their regret with my own working. So, early since I firstly entered school, I have taken education more seriously than most of my peers. I studied so hard, looking forward to increasing my knowledge, expanding my view of the world and getting more and more mature. Six years quickly disappeared into history. I soon found myself standing in front of another turning point. I made my determination to open myself the best middle school’s gate. However, sometimes determination doesn’t always turnout the best result. My knocking didn’t get the most desired answer I was expecting. Again, I missed the chance to enter the best school in our city. However, instead of getting disappointed this time, mom and dad even felt delighted because though it was not the best, the Junior Middle School that admitted me was also a considerably renowned one. Yet I still haven’t got very satisfied about the result. During the three years in Junior Middle School, I never slowed down my steps to pursue my aim.My determination pushed me to seek the best in everything I do, whether in academic studies or other aspects of life. I remember the time I got myself into a dilemma. Because of my outstanding trumpet skill, I took the position of chief trumpet player in school orchestra. So I had to keep a well-balanced connection between study and music. But at the end of one semester when I was tensely preparing for the finals, I suddenly received the notification from the orchestra for a big performance, which means I had to spend much time on rehearsal and practicing for my own solo. The two things seemed so conflictive that both mom and dad advised me to give up the performance. But I wanted the performance to be good as much as my academic record. I accepted to make theperformance without hesitation. For a whole month, I almost wanted to divide every minute into two. I clutched every second in the daytime to work on my school courses because the trumpet score was waiting for me in the night. In order not to annoy neighbors, I closed myself into the small toilet of our house. It was in summer, the small closed space was so hot and fuggy. My body got totally wet with sweats every time I finished the practicing. After one month, I did very well in both the examination and performance, with the cost of a couple of kilograms’ weight drop. With a determination like that, after the completion of Junior Middle School, I finally got admitted by one of the top middle schools of our city.I aspire to study Biochemistry in my undergraduate years and become a scientist specialized in biochemical sciences. Honestly, my first encounter with this subject was not a very pleasant memory. When I was very young, I watched a movie “The 731 Army” which tells of the biochemical weapon research of Japanese Army in China during World War Two. In the movie, Japanese Army uses innocent villagers to test the biochemical weapon, the horrible vision deeply carved in my memory. Since then on, both that movie and biochemistry were an unspeakable taboo to me. But things got totallychanged when I began to take chemistry study in middle school. I was suddenly captured by the great fascination of chemistry. Chemical experiment became my most favorite class. And only school studies could not satisfy my curiosity, I expanded my readings to many other sources. From the learning, my early fear of biochemistry was gone completely, because the more I read, the more I found it such a beautiful and useful subject for our human being. I know becoming a scientist in biochemical field will be a long and tiring process. But my determination gives me the confidence and courage to face any challenge and difficulty.。
