经典英语小故事(一):A mouse once took a bite out of a bull's tail as he lay dozing。
The bull jumped up in a rage and, with his head low to the ground, chased the mouse right across the yard。
The mouse was too quick for him, however, and slipped easily into a hole in the wall。
The bull charged the wall furiously again and again, but although he bruised his head and chipped his horns, the mouse stayed safely inside his hole。
After a time the bull gave up and sank down to rest again。
As soon as the bull was asleep, the little mouse crept to the mouth of the hole, pattered across the yard, bit the bull again -- this time on the nose -- and rushed back to safety。
As the bull roared helplessly the mouse squeaked:"It's not always the big people who e off best。

Different people have different opinions. Some think yes, while others hold the opposite. It is true that with enough money one can buy all the things one wants, and live a life of comfort and security. However, it is equally true that lack of money causes great distress. It is a common view that "money is the root of all evil."The pursuit of money drives many people to cheat and steal. In some places there is nothing that cannot be bought with money, resulting in corrupt societies where everybody is miserable. So, money does not necessarily mean happiness. It all depends on how it is used. If we make honest and sensible use of money, it can be a stepping-stone to happiness l Although money cannot buy happiness, it can make happiness possible if it is employed sensibly.。

初中英语趣味小故事1:Thank you--My Best FriendThree years ago, I was a cool and detached girl. I never helped others or cried, because i thought that was very boring. One day an unusual girl rushed into my life. She looks like a boy and she is also very lovely. She is very cheerful. I always feel she is a "red sun". She is the most beautiful girl that I have ever seen. she often helps me and plays with me. We became good friends at once. Since then, I have been sanguine. Now, I am still a happy girl. I'm often moved by the world. I think our life is so short, and it isn't easy for people to live in the world. I've learned to help others and to cry. I've also learned to be happy and grateful. I also understand that crying doesn't mean "coward", crying can mean "visualize a bright future!"though she has lots of new friends and i have many too, she will be my best friend forever, because she has taught me a lot…Thank you--my best friend!初中英语趣味小故事2:Green FoodNowadays, people pay great attention to the healthy diet, they want to keep healthy and can do a lot of things. Green food is good for our health.初中英语趣味小故事3:How to keep healthyWhat is the most important thing in the world? I think it is health. You can take away our money, house, car, or even our clothes and we can survive. But if our health was taken away,we would surely die. That is why we always try to eat in a healthy way and exercise regularly. In order to eat healthily, I usually avoid eating food high in fat, like French fries or cookies. I also eat little meat. I eat a lot of vegetables and fresh fruit which are full of vitamins.Taking exercise every day helps us build a strong body. Regular exercise is an important part of keeping me healthy. What's more, I think friends are an important part of one's health. Many studies show that people with a wide range of social contacts get sick less than those who don't. I always feel better when I am with friends than when I am alone. When I am with my friends, I always laugh. Laughing is also an important part of health. I like to laugh with my friends.By eating properly and exercising regularly, I can keep my body at a proper weight and keep healthy. By spending time with my friends, I can keep my mind as well as my body happy. These things sound easy to do,but not many people can manage them. I think a strong will is necessary if we want to keep healthy.。

Outside the gate was a moat with fishes that lived a quiet and happy life there. One day the tower above the city gate caught fire and the people of the city were alarmed. Even the fishes in the moat could hear the gone."What's the noise about?" the fishes wondered. "I must go and find out," said one curious black carp. When he saw the tower on fire, he hurried back to tell his mates1. "Swim all you could! Swim all you could! Swim for life!" He cried to his fellow-fishes. "The city gate is burning!"So all the fishes except the carps started to swim away. Onearrogant2 carp even laughed at the other fishes. "Don't laugh," said the kind black carp. "You really ought to swim away, too, in good time.""Why should I?" asked the arrogant carp. "It's only their city gate on fire, what's it got to do with me in the water?" The fire spread very fast and the firemen had used up all the water in the city. But it was still burning. So they fetched waster from the moat.At long last, the fire was put out, but the moat had also gone dry, leaving a few sorry carps in their dying3 struggle. This tale likens the city gate fire to disasters that do not seem to concern us but that can spread and involve even the innocent4.很久很久以前,宋国有一座城池。
初中英语小故事
初中英语小故事篇1:The important things life teaches you
During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a careful student and had breezedthrough the questions until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how could I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say 'hello’. I've never forgotten that lesson. I later learned her name was Dorothy.

她对大自然给予她的这份光彩炫目的礼物大为骄傲,以为自己终会成为一只天鹅,而不再是现在这般模样。
Accordingly , separating herself from her companions, she swam, solitarily and majestically, round the pond. She now stretched her neck, the treacherous shortness of which she endeavored to obviate with all her might. Now she tried to give it the graceful bend, which designates the beautiful Swan the bird of Apollo.于是,她离开同伴们,独自在池塘里神气地游来游去,她伸伸脖颈,竭力想拉长她那短短的脖子。
她又试图优雅地把脖子弯一下,美丽的天鹅正是因此而被称为太阳神之鸟的。
But in vain, it was too stiff, and with all her pains, she remained a ridiculous Goose, without inspiring a single beholder with the least idea of her resemblance to a Swan.可是白费劲儿,她的脖子太硬了。

I cannot draw or carry burdens like the horse; nor give him milk like the cow; nor lend him my covering for his clothing like the sheep; nor produce him eggs like the poultry; nor catch mice and rats so well as the cat.
