Ariel fell in love with Eric and dreamed of living in the human world with him. But her father, King Triton, was against it. He believed that humans were dangerous and didn't want his daughter to be near them.
Determined to be with Eric, Ariel made a deal with a sea
witch named Ursula. Ursula gave her a potion that would turn her into a human for three days, but at a steep price - her voice. Ariel agreed and became human, but when Eric didn't recognize her without her voice, she became heartbroken.
In the end, with the help of her friends Flounder and Scuttle, Ariel was able to save Eric from Ursula's wrath and restore peace between the two worlds. King Triton realized that humans could be kind and loving just like merpeople, and gave his blessing for Ariel and Eric to be together.
