如for exampl e, first, second…等预测应该到何处寻找⾃⼰所需要的事实;

We open the Museum’s galleries(陈列室)daily from 10:00 until 17:30. We keep selected galleries open until 20:30 on Fridays. The Museum’s Great Co urt is open from 9:00 until 18:00, except on Fridays when it remains open until 20:30. You are asked to begin leaving up to ten minutes before closing time.
The Museum is closed on 24-26 December and 1 January.

⼩题3根据film and audio recording only for your own private and non-business purposes. You aren’t allowed to bring animals into the Museum in any other case.
You aren’t allowed to eat food and drink inside the Museum, except in places such as the restaurant and cafes or the forecourt.

A In 1993, eight-year-old Brandon Keefe sat in a corner at the Hollygrove Children’s Home, waiting for his mother to finish talking. He heard that Hollygrove Home needed a library, but all they had was an empty space and lots of kids without books.
The next day, when Brandon’s teacher asked the students to come up with ideas for a community service project, Brandon remembered what he had heard. An idea occurred to him at once. What about all the books he had read? He had many that he was too old for, and knew his friends had some, too. What if they gave them to the Hollygrove Home to create a library? Brandon started a project to collect books, and soon he had 847 books. The big empty room at Hollygrove was filled, and every child had a book to take to bed at night.
When Brandon entered 7th grade, he, as well as his friends, began another book project. In one week, the school collected 5,000 books. The Hollygrove library couldn’t handle them all.
A local public school, Limerick Elementary, became the next new library created by Brandon and his friends. The headmaster realized that Brandon’s idea was simple and effective. She began sharing it throughout the schools in Los Angeles.
Brandon was surprised when, one day, a photographer from the Los Angeles Times called him
out of class. They wrote about him in the newspaper, which led to some local community service awards. Then he was invited to appear on the very popular TV program Oprah. Brandon said, “After appearing on Oprah, many people knew about
us and we were able to set up a non-profit organization called BookEnds.”
By 2001, the 60,000 volunteers had collected around 150,000 books for BookEnds. They had completed 46 libraries, with 32 more under development, helping more than 40,000 children who didn’t have books before.
Brandon feels especially good that BookEnds is growing. “There are 60,000 people involved and I’m just one of them. It’s great to know you’ve made a difference and that things are going to change because of what you’ve done.”

Jack was born without eyes. He’s very lucky with his timing. He grew up having other kittens to play and socialize with, and was used to people from the moment he was born since there are always kids hanging around the barn. He was a favorite amongst the students at the barn. However, when it came time to find the kittens homes, no one knew where Jack would end up. That’s when I got an e-mail from my friend. All she asked was “Do you still want one of the kittens? There’s one here with no eyes and no one can take him.” Without thinking I told her that I did want the kitten. Zxx!k
When we first brought him home Jack stayed mostly in my room. He walked cautiously around,
sniffing everything. After about a day he had no issues running around, jumping onto my bed and climbing on everything. He went through a time where he could clim b the stairs, but couldn’t get down. He would sit at the top and cry until someone came and got him. Every now and then when he gets disoriented he’ll stop and cry. But we just call his name and talk to him and it isn’t long before he finds his way back to us.
Also, a few weeks after getting Jack, we got a new barn cat named Bear. I always take Jack outside at that time for some fresh air and exercise. He loves to run (at top speed!) around the back yard and gardens. Bear and Jack have become best friends. It doesn’t matter that he can’t see, Jack always knows when Bear is around. He’ll run across the yard straight to Bear and wrap his front legs around his neck in a big hug. They chase each other around and wrestle, and when they’re tired they’ll lie down i n the grass together.
Jack is truly an inspiration. I’ve owned a lot of kittens in my life, but Jack is the happiest, most playful of them all. He doesn’t feel sorry for himself. Heck, for all he knows, all cats are just like him. People who know Jack don’t feel sorry for him. They cherish him for the treasure that he is. I have talked to a few people who haven’t met him personally who tend to pity him, but they just don’t understand. Jack doesn’t need pity. I think Jean (who has Gumbo the eyeless ginger) s aid it best when she told me that cats don’t have disabilities, they have adaptabilities.
28. According to the first paragraph, Jack __________.
A. got seriously disabled after birth
B. had a good time in the place where he was born
C. ended up wandering in the street at first
D. grew up lonely and sad
29. When Jack first came to the authors house, he __________.
A. would cry when he felt lonely
B. was very happy and played wildly in the room
C. had difficulty getting down the stairs
D. always needed someone to guide him
30. Which of the following has a similar meaning to the underlined word “disoriented”?
A. Hurt.
B. Caught.
C. Lost.
D. Broken.
31. What can we conclude from the last paragraph?
A. Jack needs people’s pity.
B. All disabled cats have strong adaptabilities.
C. People always feel sad for Jack.
D. Jack’s story has inspired people.
B 29. C 30. C 31. D
D
We are naturally drawn to friends and colleagues with familiar voices, scientists have found. People prefer those who have a similar accent, intonation and tone of voice to themselves, they discovered.
Previous research has focused on how a male or female voice sounds. Men with deeper voices and women with slightly higher voices were thought to sound more attractive, because they suggest a bigger or a smaller body.
But the new study, published by a linguistics expert in Canada, suggests there is a more complex mechanism(机制)at play. Dr Molly Babel, from the University of British Columbia in Canada, said, “The voice is an amazingly flexible tool that we use to construct our identity. Very few things in our voices are changeless, so we felt that our preferences had to be abo ut more than a person’ s shape and size.’’
She recorded 30 volunteers’ voices and asked each to rate the others’ attractiveness on a scale of one to nine. Each participant was from western America, with similar accents. The people we assessed were all in the same dialect group, but they showed that dialect to different degrees.
“We seem to like people who sound like we sound, we like people who fit within what we know, ”Dr Babel said. She also found that breathy voices in women-typified by the famous American actress Marilyn Monroe-were seen as more attractive.
The breathy tone, caused by younger and thinner vocal cords(声带), implied youthfulness and health. A creaky (咯吱作响的)voice, suggesting a person has a cold, is tired or smokes, was seen as unattractive. The participants preferred men who spoke with a shorter average word length and deeper voices.
32. The main purpose of the text is to ___________.
A. inform readers of the new findings of voices
B. compare male voices with female voices
C. argue against women’s voices of speaking
D. encourage men to use deeper voices to speak
33. Dr. Molly Babel mentions Marilyn Monroe in order to________.
A. introduce a creaky voice
B. explain a breathy voice
C. challenge previous research
D. promote her reputation
34. In terms of voice preferences, the new findings stress ________.
A. body size and shape
B. shorter word length
C. thicker vocal cords
D. the same social groups。
