Introduction
Why were the pharaohs buried with their possessions and mummified their bodies after death? Because the ancient Egyptians believed their pharaohs would need possessions and their bodies in the afterlife.
Chapter 2 Sixteen steps
1. What did the waterboy find by accident? He found sth. under the soil which turned out to be a step leading underground. 2. What did they find on the surface of the large plaster block at the foot of the staircase? The imprints of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Chapter 4 Wonderful Things
1. Why did Carter hold the candle to the hole? To test for poisonous gases 2. When Carter was holding the candle up inside the chamber, what wonderful things did he see? Shapes. Animals. Statues. Furniture.
Chapter 5 A pair of eyes
1. How many parts did the tomb consist of? What are they? 5 parts. They are corridor, antechamber, annexe , burial chamber, treasury. 2. Where were the eyes painted? Why did people paint them there? Painted on a wooden sarcophagus. Large Egyptian eye-designs were used to guard against evil.

About the story
Carter
was absolutely sure that the boy pharaoh was buried somewhere in the Valley of the Kings. But where? He had found nothing until the waterboy saw some stone steps leading downwards. Wild with excitement, Carter began to dig. Was this the entrance to the tomb sealed for two thousand years?
