1.Activity introduction.
Today we continue to learn something more about Unit 6.Before this class, we have learnt the content of Unit 6 and mastered a grammar—comparative degree. We are going to use this grammar to carry on an activity. Suppose Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Xi’an are candidate cities to hold the 12th National Games. Now, if you are the person in charge of your provincial sports board, you surely hope the 12th National Games will be held in areas of your province. How can you express that your city is better than others? We will select four candidate cities to the last competition. Before class, I have arranged the task: the whole class is divided into 8 groups, each group standing for one city. Every group should collect
information about the transportation, climate, geography, culture, etc. We adopt rules of elimination. Each time, two groups will come to the platform and introduce the superiority of your city one by one. We will choose the better one from the two groups. Next, each group chooses one member to come to the front and draws lots to decide your competitive city and your order.

b. One member will represent the group to draw lots on the platform.
c. According to the lots, I will divide the class into groups and decide the competition goals.
2) Discuss and Compete.
a. Compare the characteristic of the city you represent with that of another city you fight against, finding out advantages and make records.
b. Members of each group come to the front to introduce your city’s conditions and explain what their advantages are. One member should write down the advantage in form on the blackboard.
c. After the statement of each group, other groups can raise questions according to the actual conditions.
d. After the introduction, the whole class will decide which four cities can be the candidate ones by raising the hands.
4.Finish task.
The assistant (our monitor) copies the advantages of four winning cities, and gives them to the president (me) of the Counsel Board. The president will sign the name and stamp. Then the material will be kept in a seal bag.
Step 5: Exercise
