My Favorite Cartoon: Tom and Jerry
Tom and Jerry is my all-time favorite cartoon! It's about a cat named Tom who is always trying to catch a mouse named Jerry. But no matter how hard Tom tries, Jerry is just too smart and always gets away. The cartoon is so funny and I never get tired of watching it.
Tom is a big gray cat with a squeaky voice. He has a round belly and always looks hungry, especially when he sees Jerry. His eyes get really big and his mouth waters whenever Jerry is around. Tom is supposed to be the house cat, but he's not very good at catching mice. He tries everything he can think of to get Jerry - setting traps, using weapons like hammers or dynamite, and coming up with crazy plans. But Jerry is just too clever.
Jerry is a tiny brown mouse with a big smile. Even though he's so small, he's not afraid of Tom at all. He thinks it's funny when Tom tries and fails to catch him. Jerry always has a new trick up his sleeve to escape. Sometimes he'll hit Tom over the head with a frying pan or lead him right into a dangerous trap. My favorite is when Jerry ties Tom's tail in a knot or pulls his whiskers out!
There is also a bulldog named Spike who is friends with Jerry. He hates Tom and will bite him or sit on him whenever Tom gets too close to Jerry. There's also a cute little bird named Tweety that Tom tries to eat sometimes. Whenever Tweety is around, Tom's owner hits him with a broom or kicks him out of the house.
The cartoon takes place mostly inside and around a regular house. The kitchen and living room are where Tom and Jerry have a lot of their funny chases and fights. There's always a big mess with broken plates, cracked walls, and holes everywhere after they're done. Outside in the backyard, they'll have wars with Jerry's mouse friends trying to attack Tom.
My favorite episodes are the ones where Tom dresses up in a silly costume to try and fool Jerry. Like when he pretends to be a mouse to lure Jerry into a trap, but Jerry sees right through it. Or when Tom puts on a monster mask to scare Jerry, but Jerry isn't scared at all. Tom ends up scaring himself when he looks in the mirror!
Another episode I love is when Tom gets a robot cat to help catch Jerry. At first it seems like the robot will finally catch Jerry for Tom. But eventually Jerry figures out how to control the robot
and makes it attack poor Tom instead. It's so funny watching the big tough robot cat beating up on Tom.
Whenever I'm feeling sad or grumpy, watching Tom and Jerry always cheers me up. Their crazy antics make me laugh so hard my stomach hurts. They're both so determined - Tom to catch Jerry and Jerry to keep escaping Tom. No matter how many times Tom fails, he just keeps on trying.
What I really like about the show is that Tom and Jerry are "frenemies." Even though Tom wants to eat Jerry, deep down I think they must be friends in a weird way. After all their fighting is over, Tom and Jerry will be sitting side by side peacefully licking their wounds. Jerry will give Tom a friendly pat and Tom won't try to hurt him for once. It's like they need each other as opponents to make their lives exciting.
I've watched Tom and Jerry so many times, but it never ever gets old for me. The slapstick humor with all the bonks on the head, explosions, and wild chases never fails to make me giggle. The animators who created this classic cartoon were geniuses to think up such outrageous situations for a cat and mouse to get into. Whenever I'm channel surfing and an episode comes on, I have to stop and watch the whole thing again.
Tom and Jerry is definitely the greatest cat and mouse cartoon ever made. The characters are so funny and memorable, and the humor is the perfect mix of silly and smart. I don't think any other cartoon series can top it. After decades of watching it, I'm still a huge fan of those two crazy pals, Tom and Jerry!。
