My Role Model - Dong Yuhui
Have you ever heard of Dong Yuhui? He's this super cool guy who has done some really amazing things! Let me tell you all about him.
Dong Yuhui was born in 1976 in Shenyang, which is a big city in northeastern China. When he was just a little kid, he loved playing basketball and dreamed of becoming a professional player one day. However, his life took an unexpected turn when he had a terrible accident at age 6 that crushed both of his arms. Can you imagine how scary that must have been for a little boy?
Despite this huge setback, Dong Yuhui didn't let it get him down. With the love and support of his family, he learned how to use his mouth and feet to do everyday tasks like writing, eating, and getting dressed. It must have been really hard, but he kept trying his best every single day. That's the kind of perseverance and positive attitude we should all strive for!
In school, Dong was an excellent student who excelled at subjects like math, Chinese, and English. His classmates were amazed by his ability to write with his mouth. I can barely write neatly with my hands, so I can't even fathom how talented he must be! Dong also enjoyed painting beautiful artworks using a brush held in his mouth or between his toes. How cool is that?
After graduating from university, Dong decided to pursue his passion for painting. He became a famous mouth and foot painter, holding exhibitions all across China and the world. My Idol - Dong Yuhui
You know how every kid has someone they really look up to and admire? For me, that person is Dong Yuhui. He's a super famous Chinese singer and actor, and I've been a huge fan of his ever since I was a little kid. Let me tell you all about why I think he's so amazing!
First off, Dong Yuhui is an incredible singer. His voice is just so powerful and emotional. Whenever I listen to his songs, I get totally lost in the music. My favorite song of his is probably "The Courage to Dream" - the lyrics are so inspiring about never giving up on your dreams no matter how hard things get. Dong Yuhui just has a way of pouring his heart into every word and note. I've watched so many of his live concert videos online, and his performances give me goosebumps every single time.
But Dong Yuhui isn't just a great singer - he's also a really talented actor too. He's starred in all sorts of popular TV shows and movies over the years. My personal favorite is the historical drama "The Qing Dynasty Chronicles" where he played the lead role of Emperor Yongzheng. His acting was so believable and compelling that I felt totally transported back in time to ancient China. Dong Yuhui has such amazing versatility and range as an performer.

My Hero: Dong Yuhui
Do you know who Dong Yuhui is? He's my ultimate hero and someone I really look up to. Dong Yuhui is a famous explorer and adventurer from China who has done some truly incredible things! Let me tell you all about him.
Dong Yuhui was born in 1976 in Shandong Province. Even as a little kid, he loved the outdoors and going on adventures. His parents said he was always climbing trees, exploring the countryside, and driving them nuts because he never wanted to stay inside! I can totally relate to that feeling of wanting to be outdoors all the time.
When Dong Yuhui grew up, he became an explorer for a living - how cool is that?! He's been on over 30 exploration trips to incredibly remote parts of the world. We're talking isolated jungles, frozen polar regions, scorching hot deserts - you name it, Dong Yuhui has been there. I get exhausted just thinking about the crazy places he's traveled to.
One of his most famous adventures was in 2005 when he led a team that was the first to walk across the entire Arctic Ocean from Russia to Canada. They covered over 5,800 miles across floating ice in just 61 days! That was the longest journey ever taken in the Arctic up until that point. Dong Yuhui said the conditions were brutally cold, with temperatures as low as -58°F. He even got frostbite on his hands and feet. But despite the intense challenges, he and his team persevered all the way across. Just picturing them trudging through that frozen wasteland while dragging heavy sleds gives me chills.
Another mind-blowing trip was in 2015 when Dong Yuhui and a friend became the first people ever to walk across Antarctica from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. It took them an astounding 192 days to cover over 3,500 miles! Along the way, they battled raging blizzards, glaciers, and temperatures as low as -40°F. At one point, their food supplies ran extremely low, and they were forced to survive for 12 days by eating nothing but butter and chocolate. I don't know if I could have made it even a single day under those extreme conditions.
In 2017, Dong Yuhui embarked on what was supposed to be his final exploration - an attempt to walk solo across the Arctic Ocean by himself. However, only 14 days into the trip, he fell into freezing water while crossing an ice ridge. He described being submerged up to his shoulders in the icy ocean for over 10 minutes before finally managing to pull himself out. Tragically, Dong Yuhui suffered severe frostbite and had to have both his feet amputated after that traumatic incident. Despite this devastating setback, he has remained incredibly positive and continued exploring in other ways.
What I find so inspiring about Dong Yuhui is his perseverance, bravery, and passion for adventure. Time after time, he has ventured into some of the most hostile
environments on Earth and pushed his body to the absolute limits - all in pursuit of exploring our amazing planet. Even losing his feet in that terrible accident hasn't diminished his zest for life or stopped him from finding new ways to embark on thrilling journeys.
Just watching documentaries of Dong Yuhui's expeditions gets my heart pumping with excitement. I'm in complete awe of his ability to endure subzero temperatures, physical exhaustion, lack of food, and other intense hardships for months at a time. I don't know if I'll ever have the opportunity to go on a real polar expedition like he has. But when I'm feeling lazy or unmotivated, I think about the challenges Dong Yuhui has overcome through sheer determination and willpower, and it inspires me to work harder.
Dong Yuhui is living proof that we are capable of so much more than we often give ourselves credit for. His adventures have taken him to the most remote corners of our planet and proven that the human spirit is truly indomitable if you set your mind to something. I may only be in 7th grade, but Dong Yuhui has taught me that with passion, perseverance, and a sense of adventure, you can achieve the seemingly impossible.
