英语作文大学四年英语学习的回顾
My Four Years Learning English at University
Wow, it's hard to believe my English journey at university is already over! It feels like just yesterday I was a little kid counting down the days until I could finally start my English classes. Looking back, those four years flew by in the blink of an eye, but they were packed with so many fun memories and important lessons.
I still remember my very first English class like it was yesterday. I was so excited, but also a little nervous walking into that big lecture hall. What if I couldn't understand anything the professor said? What if I wasn't any good at English? My palms were getting sweaty just thinking about having to speak out loud in front of everyone.
But my worries quickly went away as soon as the class started. The professor was really nice and made an effort to speak slowly and clearly. They used lots of pictures, hand motions, and silly examples to explain things in a way that was easy for us beginner students to understand. Even though I didn't know much English at first, I could follow along pretty well. Phew, what a relief!
As the semesters went on, my English skills improved a ton. The classes covered all the basics like vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening. We'd practice conversations, do roleplays, and learn fun songs and rhymes to help the words stick in our brains. My favorite was always the games and group activities where we could sprint around the classroom having English adventures together.
In my opinion, one of the very best parts of English class was all the awesome books, movies, shows, and music we got to experience. Thanks to English, I discovered so many of my new favorite stories and characters from around the world. From the magical worlds of Harry Potter to the hilarious jokes in Friends, exploring different cultures through English opened up vast new realms of entertainment and literature that I never even knew existed before.
Of course, like all students, there were times when the homework and exams felt overwhelming. Endless vocab lists to memorize, grammar rules to master, essays to write – it could be a lot for my little kid brain to handle! I'll never forget the pit of dread in my stomach the night before a big test. But my professors were always so supportive and patient. They helped
me develop good study habits, strategies for managing my time, and ways to control my nerves.
Looking back, I realized those stressful moments taught me skills that will benefit me for life – how to work hard, persevere through challenges, and believe in myself even when things get tough. Whenever I felt stuck on an assignment or struggled with a concept, my amazing professors were right there to lift me up, have confidence in my abilities, and remind me that it's okay to make mistakes as long as I keep trying my best.
Some of my most cherished university memories are from the field trips, events, and cultural activities connected to my English classes. Who could forget that time we attended the international festival and I tried food from over 20 different countries? My taste buds were doing a happy dance! Or that amazing opportunity to see a professional theatre company perform one of Shakespeare's famous plays. Even though I didn't understand all the words, I was captivated by the drama, humor, and emotion they conveyed.
Then there was the holiday celebrate where we learned Christmas traditions from around the globe and decorated the classroom with ornaments, lights, and music. Or the iconic talent show where kids from every grade level sang, danced, and
performed skits to show off their English skills. Those hands-on experiences brought the language to life in such an engaging way. They'll forever be some of my most vibrant memories associated with learning English.
As I progressed through the levels, my classes went beyond just the textbooks and started incorporating meaningful discussions about world events, social issues, and philosophical questions. We analyzed the nuances of idioms and slang, dissected the techniques incredible writers use to hook readers, and debated thought-provoking ethical dilemmas. My young mind was constantly being stretched and expanded.
I'm eternally grateful that through learning English, I was exposed to diverse perspectives from all over the planet. Stories, poems, articles, films, and speeches opened my eyes to how people lead vastly different lives and view the world through unique cultural lenses. This guided me to become a more curious, open-minded, and compassionate person who can connect with and appreciate all types of people.
Those four years weren't just about building English skills, they were about developing stronger communication abilities in general. I learned how to clearly express myself, effectively collaborate with others, navigate disagreement with respect and
maturity, and really listen to what someone is saying – not just their words but the deeper meaning behind them. These crucial life skills will undoubtedly serve me well no matter what path I choose.
Of course, it wouldn't have been such an amazing experience without the wonderful teachers who guided me every step of the way. They were brimming with kindness, creativity, patience, and a genuine passion for nurturing the students under their care. I'll forever be thankful for the way they encouraged us to take risks, ask questions, and never be afraid to make mistakes while learning.
I can hardly believe that after all this time, my English university days have reached their conclusion. Part of me wants to go back and relive it all over again! But I'm also filled with immense pride for everything I accomplished and overcame. From the little kindergartner who could barely speak a word of English to now feeling confident enough to someday travel, work, or even live in an English-speaking environment – wow, what an incredible transformation!
As I step out into the world, I know my English journey is really just beginning. Sure, there will be many more lessons, challenges, and opportunities to grow along the way. But my
years at university gave me such a powerful foundation that I feel prepared to face whatever comes next. The friends I made, the professors who inspired me, and all the experiences that shaped me into a stronger student and better person – I'll carry those with me forever.
Who knows where life's path will lead? Maybe I'll become an English teacher myself someday to spark that same curiosity and love of learning in future students. Maybe I'll travel the globe, putting my English skills to use while immersing myself in new cultures. Or maybe I'll find an unexpected dream career that I can't even imagine yet. But no matter what, I know English will always be an integral part of my life's journey from here on out.
Man, when I think back to that kid nervously walking into her first English class years ago, I have to smile. Look how far I've come! Learning this incredible language wasn't just about memorizing words and grammar rules, it was about opening doors to a great big world of new ideas, stories, and perspectives. It was about becoming a citizen of not just my local community, but of this amazing, diverse planet we all share. What an unforgettable adventure it's been! Cheers to many more to come.。
