The manifestation of maternal love in beloved
AbstractMaternal love is an invariable theme in literature. Many feminists regard motherhood as the locus of women’s oppression, which is sharply different from African Americans’ views on motherhood. Building upon black women’s experiences of and perspec tives on motherhood, Morrison has developed her own theory of motherhood. She positions mother’s work as a practice committed to meeting four specific tasks: preservation, nurturance, cultural bearing, and healing. However, Morrison confirms the importance of mother’s work not through describing its realization but through its absence which results in deformed motherhood in her works. In Beloved ,Morrison depicts one crazy black mothers: one kills her daughter with her own hands. This active is beyond norma l people’s understanding. However, there is unspeakable pain behind the seemingly distorted maternal love. This essay tries to discuss how black mothers express their maternal love in rough life under the influence of racial slave society, how the mother and her daughters lose themselves because of the lack of love, and finally, how they cast off sorrow, find self- worth and self- identity, then get rid of the past and begin new life.Key words: maternal love, trauma, twisted, healing.摘要母爱是文学作品中永恒的主题。

beloved
Book Report on BelovedBrowsing the books on the shelf of the bookshop randomly, I was suddenly attracted by the book‟s title Beloved, Chonger in Chinese. After spengding about two months finishing the book, I am even more touched by the content,by the characters‟story.Beloved is a novel by Toni Morrison, who uses flashbacks and other devices to portray the lives of Sethe, an escaped slave and mother, and those around her.The female slaver Sethe escaped from Sweet Home in Kentucky to Cincinnat. In order to prevent her children from returning to the way she had suffered as a slaver, Sethe murdered her third child Beloved. The spirit of Beloved haunted Sethe‟ s home at 124 Bluestone Road in the next 20 years. It caused Sethe‟s two sons to ru n away, and quickened Baby Suggs‟ death. Then the ghost took the form of a twenty-year-old girl to seek Sethe's affections as well as vengeance for a murder she cannot understand. Sethe wasted away everything she had just to prove her love to Beloved. The tyranny of Beloved harassed Sethe and forced Denver to go out of the gate for help.It was grown Denver and townsmen who helped Sethe get rid of Beloved and begin to face the new life. One important theme of the novel is the past haunting the present. Each of the characters in the novel have endured a furious past, complete with the worst horrors. Sethe has been raped and forced to murder her child, Paul D has been imprisoned in a cube in a ditch, Stamp Paid was forced to give his wife away to be a sex toy, and the list goes on and on. Many of these men and women have chosen to repress the past. No sort of resolution occurs for any of the characters until each learns to accept and deal with the past. Only then can a future be found. In the novel,Beloved serves both as a character as well as a symbol for the past and the sixty-million slaves killed in the Middle Passage. Sethe is the central figure of the novel. Her past, which includes both the murder of her daughter and being raped, is so huge that much of her time is spent "beating back the past."I admire Sethe a lot for her daring love to her children. Unwilling to relinquish her children to the physical, emotional, and spiritual trauma she has endured as a slave, she tries to murder them in an act that is, in her mind, one of motherly love and protection. However, I also feel great sympathy for Sethe when she was agonized by the miserable memmory of murdering her child.“…I will never run from another thing on this earth. I took one journey and I paid for the ticket, but let me tell you something, Paul D. Garner: It cost too much! Do you hear me? It cost too much.‟”When reading the words, I seem to see Sethe standing in front of me and pouring out her agony and dilemma. Sethe, made the “rough choice” to kill her own child. It involves the inexplicable painful decision of a mother and the death of her child, its dramatic power serves to emphasize the difficult choices and losses of all African Americans who were trapped within that slavy system, their autonomy and decision-making power not simply limited, but non-existent.At the end of the story Beloved vanishes, however, she is never really gone, her story is preserved by the novel, and remain. Beloved represents a destructive and painful past, but she also signals the possibility of a brighter future. She gives Sethe,Denver, and Paul D,and eventually the entire community, a chance to engage with the memories they have suppressed. Through confrontation, they can reclaim and learn from its forgotten and ignored memory, then truly begin their new lives.Morrison‟s Beloved is incredibly powerful because although it appears to be a story about a small and closed group of individuals affected by slavery, it reflects the details about slavery that the contemporary readers need to know and understand. The presence of beloved‟s ghost is a persistent reminder about the losses caused by slavery, the complicated relationships among slave families, and the difficult decisions that slaves were forced to make in the limited autonomy that was available to them.。

Through the story of Sethe, a former slave who is haunted by the memory of her dead daughter, Morrison delves into the psychological and emotional toll of slavery, and the ways in which it continues to shape the lives of those who have experienced it.The novel is set in the years following the Civil War, and it paints a vivid picture of the struggles and challenges faced by former slaves as they attempt to build new lives for themselves. Sethe's experiences are particularly harrowing, as she is forced to confront the horrors of her past and the ways in which they continue to haunt her in the present. The character of Beloved, the ghost of Sethe's daughter, serves as a powerful symbol of the lingering trauma of slavery, and her presence inSethe's life forces her to confront the painful memories she has tried to bury.Morrison's prose is both lyrical and evocative, and she has a remarkable ability to capture the inner lives of her characters in a way that feels deeply authentic and empathetic. Sethe's memories of her time as a slave are vivid and visceral, and they continue to exert a powerful influence on her life. Morrisonskillfully weaves together the past and the present, creating a narrative that is both deeply rooted in history and profoundly relevant to contemporary issues of race and identity.Overall, Beloved is a searing and unforgettable exploration of the legacy of slavery, and the ways in which it continues to shape the lives of those who have experienced it. Morrison's writing is both beautiful and devastating, and she offers a profound meditation on theenduring power of memory and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unspeakable trauma.《宠爱》是一部强大而令人难忘的小说,探讨了奴隶制度的持久影响以及它对个人和家庭的创伤。

His sonnets are renowned for their deep themes, vivid imagery, and perfect rhyme schemes.Let's take a closer look at Sonnet 18: 'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date. Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed; But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st; Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st. So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.'The theme of this sonnet is the eternal beauty of the beloved. 有关介绍主题公园的高中英语作文80词左右
有关介绍主题公园的高中英语作文80词左右全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Love for Theme ParksEver since I was a little kid, I've been absolutely obsessed with theme parks. There's just something so magical and exhilarating about them that never fails to put a huge smile on my face. From the impossibly tall roller coasters to thesugary-sweet funnel cakes, theme parks are a wonderland of thrills and indulgences. My earliest memory of a theme park was when my parents took me to Disneyland for the first time. I was around 5 years old, and I can still vividly recall the awe I felt as we entered through those iconic tunnels and set eyes on Main Street USA. The sights, the sounds, the smells – it was all utterly captivating to my young mind. We spent the day bouncing from ride to ride, taking in all the whimsical Disney magic. I still get goosebumps thinking about that first glimpse of Cinderella's castle. As I grew older, my passion for theme parks only intensified. Once I hit my teenage years, I became a full-blown roller coasterjunkie. There's an indescribable rush that comes from plummeting down those first massive drops at speeds over 100 mph. It's a beautiful blend of sheer terror and pure elation. I've been lucky enough to experience some of the greatest coasters around the world – from Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure to The Smiler at Alton Towers. But theme parks aren't just about the rides, at least not for me. There's something special about being transported into these vividly themed environments and letting your imagination run wild. I love strolling through areas like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and feeling like I've stumbled into J.K. Rowling's magical universe. Or wandering the twisting alleys of Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm and getting fully immersed in that Wild West atmosphere. The artistry and craftsmanship that goes into creating those spaces is endlessly impressive to me.As an avid theme park fanatic, I've been known to obsessively plan out trips to maximize efficiency and minimize wait times. I study park maps and attraction lists like they'retop-secret military documents. I chart out strategies for conquering the most popular rides via intricate fast pass maneuvers and carefully timed reservations. My friends tease me relentlessly for this level of theme park nerdiness, but they'reinevitably grateful when we breeze past those two-hour standbys. All those little mishaps are just part of the theme park experience in my book. Because at the end of the day, theme parks will always hold a special place in my heart. They're a temporary escape from the stresses of everyday life into a world of pure, unadulterated fun. A chance to feel like a wide-eyed kid again, even if just for a few hours. So you can be sure I'll keep chasing that thrilling theme park high for as long as I can. Just don't judge me when you see me grinning ear-to-ear while stuffing my face with a massive turkey leg, okay?篇2The Thrilling World of Theme ParksAs a high school student, there's nothing quite like the excitement of a theme park visit. From the moment you step through the gates, you're transported into a realm of pure exhilaration and endless possibilities. Theme parks are more than just amusement centers; they're magical escapes where imagination comes to life, and memories are forged that will last a lifetime. The heart of any theme park lies in its rides. These engineering marvels defy gravity, push the boundaries of speed, and challenge the limits of human endurance. Whether it's the heart-pounding drops of a colossal roller coaster or the stomach-churning spins of a disorienting ride, the thrill is unparalleled. As the adrenaline courses through your veins, you can't help but feel alive, reveling in the rush of pure adrenaline. But theme parks aren't just about rides; they're immersive experiences that transport you to different worlds. One minute, you're exploring the depths of a tropical rainforest, and the next, you're soaring through the skies on a fantastical adventure. These meticulously crafted environments are a testament to the power of imagination, where every detail is thoughtfully designed to captivate the senses and suspend disbelief.Stepping into a theme park is like stepping into a living storybook, where characters from beloved tales come to life. Whether it's high-fiving your favorite superhero or posing for a picture with a beloved Disney princess, these encounters create cherished memories that transcend the boundaries of reality. It's a chance to connect with the stories that have shaped our childhoods and ignite that sense of wonder that often fades as we grow older.Beyond the rides and immersive environments, theme parks offer a plethora of entertainment options. From mesmerizing shows that blend music, dance, and cutting-edge technology, to interactive experiences that put you in the heart of the action, there's never a dull moment. There's just something so magical and exhilarating about stepping through those gates into a realm of fantasy and adrenaline. Ever since I was a little kid, I've been enamored by the larger-than-life rides, the incredible themed lands, and the contagious atmosphere of joy and wonder. My love affair with theme parks began at a very young age when my parents first took me to our local amusement park. I can still vividly remember the rush of excitement as we approached the entrance, the kaleidoscope of colorful lights andsounds beckoning us inside. From the moment we stepped through the turnstiles, I was utterly captivated.I marveled at the towering steel coasters, looping and twisting in extreme defiance of gravity. The raucous screams of riders echoed across the park, at once terrifying and thrilling. I was desperate to experience that heart-pounding adrenaline for myself, but my tiny stature relegated me to the tamer kiddie rides at first. Still, I cherished every spinning teacup and miniature roller coaster, each ride fueling my growing infatuation. As I grew older and taller, more and more rides became accessible to me. I'll never forget the first time I summoned the courage to board a massive looping coaster. My hands were clammy, my heart pounding out of my chest as the coaster clicked up that first enormous hill. Then, after cresting that apex, came the breathtaking plunge and a kaleidoscope of inversions that blurred the line between terror and elation. I was hooked.Theme parks aren't just about the rides, however. What truly sets the great parks apart are their impeccably themed lands that transport you to entirely different worlds. Stepping into Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure, I'm instantly whisked away to the whimsical world of Radiator Springs, surrounded by vividrecreations of locations from the beloved Pixar film. The brilliant Imagineers who design these spaces are true modern-day dreamweavers, spinning impossibly lifelike settings that spark the imagination. At their core, however, theme parks are all about moments of pure, unadulterated joy. Watching a night-time parade of fantastical floats and fireworks backed by an inspiring musical score, I'm filled with a sense of childlike wonder that no amount of age can extinguish. Laughing with friends as we get soaked on a rapids ride, squealing together as a coaster plunges into a deep ravine - these are the moments that create lifelong memories. That's ultimately what theme parks represent to me: an opportunity to temporarily abandon the stresses of the real world and reignite that spark of youthful exuberance. Within those gates, achievements and failures fade away as you're transported back to a time of pure magic and delight. So yes, you could certainly call me a theme park fanatic. I happily embrace that label, because those parks have provided me with countless smiles, endless thrills, and an immeasurable sense of enchantment that I'll carry with me forever. sonnet_18
Shakespeare - Sonnet 18Sonnet 18 is the best known and most well-loved of all 154 sonnets. It is also one of the most straightforward 直接in language and intent. The stability of love and its power to immortalize the poetry and the subject of that poetry is the theme. This sonnet is by far one of the most interesting poems in the book. Of Shakespeare's sonnets in the text, this is one of the most moving lyric poems that I have ever read. There is great use of imagery within the sonnet. This is not to say that the rest of the poems in the book were not good, but this to me was the best, most interesting, and most beautiful of them. It is mainly due to the simplicity 简单and loveliness of the poem, praise of the beloved woman that it has guaranteed its place in my mind, and heart. The speaker of the poem opens with a question that is addressed to the beloved, "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" This question is comparing her to the summer time of the year. It is during this time when the flowers are blooming, trees are full of leaves, the weather is warm, and it is generally thought of as an enjoyable time during the year. The following eleven lines in the poem are also dedicated to similar comparisons between the beloved and summer days. In lines 2 and 3, the speaker explains what mainly separates the young woman from thesummer's day: she is "more lovely and more temperate." (Line 2) Summer's days tend toward extremes极端: they are sometimes shaken by "rough winds" (line3) which happens and is not always as welcoming as the woman. However in line 4, the speaker gives the feeling again that the summer months are often to short by saying, "And summer, lease hath too short a date." In the summer days, the sun, "the eye of heaven" (line 5), often shines "too hot," or too dim, "his gold complexion dimmed" (line 6), that is there are many hot days during the summer but soon the sun begins to set earlier at night because autumn is approaching. Summer is moving along too quickly for the speaker, its time here needs to be longer, and it also means that the chilling of autumn is coming upon us because the flowers will soon be withering, as "every fair from fair sometime declines." (Line 7) The final portion 部分of the sonnet tells how the beloved心爱的differs from the summer in various respects. Her beauty will be one that lasts forever, "Thy eternal summer shall not fade." (Line 9), and never end or die. In the couplet 对联at the bottom, the speaker explains how that the beloved's beauty will accomplish this everlasting life unlike a summer. And it is because her beauty is kept alive in this poem, which will last forever. It will live "as long as men can breathe or eyes can see." (Line 13)On the surface, the poem is on the surface simply a statement of praise about the beauty of the beloved woman and perhaps summer to the speaker is sometimes too unpleasantwith the extremes of windiness 招风、有风and heat that go along with it. However, the beloved in the poem is always mild and temperate by her nature and nothing at all like the summer. It is incidentally brought to life as being described as the "eye of heaven" with its "gold complexion". The imagery throughout the sonnet is simple and attainable to the reader, which is a key factor in understanding the poem. Then the speaker begins to describe the summer again with the "darling buds of May" giving way to the " summer lease", springtime 春天moving into the warmth of the summer. The speaker then starts to promise to talk about this beloved, that is so great and awing that she is to live forever in this sonnet. The beloved is so great that the speaker will even go as far as to say that, "So long as 只要men breathe, or eyes can see," the woman will live. The language is almost too simple when comparing it to the rest of Shakespeare's sonnets; it is not heavy with alliteration 押韵or verse节, and nearly every line is its own self-contained clause, almost every line ends with some punctuation 标点符号that effects a pause. But it is this that makes Sonnet18 stand out for the rest in the book. It is much more attainable to understand and it allows for the reader to fully understand how great this beloved truly is because she may live forever in it. An important theme of the sonnet, as it is an important theme throughout much of the poetry in general, is the power of the speaker's poem to defy 违抗time and last forever. And so by doing this it is then carrying thebeauty of the beloved down to future generations and eventually for all of eternity. 永恒The beloved's "eternal summer" shall not fade precisely because it is embodied in the sonnet: "So long as men can breathe or eyes can see," (line 13) the speaker writes in the couplet, "So long lives this, and this gives life to thee."(Line 14) With this the speaker is able to accomplish what many have done in poetry and that is to give the gift of an eternal life to someone that they believe is special and outshines 比everyone else around them. Perhaps it is because of a physical beauty that the speaker see, but I believe that it is more because of the internal beauty as seen in line 2, "Thou art more lovely and more temperate", that the beloved is deserving to live on forever.。
