The basic units of measurement in the States are the U.S. Barrel, and the U.S. Gallon. There are 42 U.S. Gallons in a Barrel - By definition. - TOV gives an uncorrected cargo total - GSV gives temperature corrected figures. In Europe, the base unit of volume is the Cubic Meter. There are 6.28981 barrels in a cubic meter or 0.159 cubic meter in 1 barrels. Most calculations take the observed cubic Meter volume and multiply this figure by a factor (the observed density at that temperature) to come up with Metric Tons. FACT……… WEIGHT = VOLUME X DENSITY

Case 1: Loading Table 6A; Discharging Table 54A Very close indeed – just tiny rounding differences from temp & Density. Case 2: Loading Old Table 6 or 54; Discharging New Table 6A or 54A Both table 6 and table 54 will produce a higher GSV total than the new tables will.

Because most of crude oil trading deals‟ quantity is based on NSV. NSV=GCV-BS&W=TCV-FREE WATER-BS&W BS&W means sediment and water content.

Try to clarify and describe which table used for your B/L in contract. Avoid this potential quantity loss.
IN 2006, THE API IS ONCE AGAIN IN THE PROCESS OF INTRODUCING NEW TABLES. GOING TO 5 DECIMAL PLACES FOR VCF. TABLES EVERY 0.1 GRAVITY AND 0.1 TEMPERATURE. THE OLD TABLE WAS 300 PAGES – THE NEW WOULD BE 11,000 PAGES OR SO….ALL CALCULATION NEEDS TO BE DONE ELECTRONICALLY.

What is the difference between 2 methods?

Distillation method is more accurate Centrifuge method result is lower than centrifuge method, it will cause your net barrels loss. Refer to API Chapter 10.3 or ASTM D4007, This centrifuge method for determining water and sediment in crude oils is not entirely satisfactory. The amount of water detected is almost always lower than the actual water content. When a highly accurate value is required, the revised procedures for water by distillation, Test Method D4006 (API MPMS Chapter 10.2) (Note 1), and sediment by extraction, Test Method D473 (API MPMS Chapter 10.1), shall be used.
