Lesson Plan: Recycle 1 (PEP English 4th Grade, Second Semester) Teaching Objectives
1. Knowledge Objectives
• Students should be able to know what recycling means and why it is important.
• Students should be able to identify the different types of materials that can be recycled.
• Students should be able to understand the steps involved in recycling.
2. Ability Objectives
• Students should be able to explain the benefits of recycling.
• Students should be able to sort and sepa rate recyclable materials. • Students should be able to demonstrate how to reuse objects instead of throwing them away.
Teaching Content
1. Vocabulary: recycle, reuse, landfill, metal, glass, plastic, paper
2. Grammar: "what" and "why" questions using "do" and "does" Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Warm-up (5 minutes)
• Greet the students and ask them if they know what recycling means.
• Show pictures of different materials such as paper, plastic, metal, and glass and ask the students if they know whether these materials can be recycled or not.
• Ask the students what they think will happen to these materials if they are not recycled.
Step 2: Presentation (15 minutes)
• Explain to the students what recycling means and why it is important for the environment.
• Show pictures or videos of recycling facilities and explain the steps involved in recycling.
• Introduce the different types of materials that can be recycled (metal, glass, plastic, and paper).
• Show examples of objects made from recycled materials (e.g. pencils made from recycled newspapers or plastic bottles turned into playground equipment).
Step 3: Practice (15 minutes)
• Divide the students into groups and give them different materials such as metal, glass, plastic, and paper.
• Ask them to sort a nd separate these materials into two categories: recyclable and non-recyclable.
• Check the students' work and provide feedback.
Step 4: Production (20 minutes)
• Ask the students to bring in a recyclable object from home (e.g. a plastic bottle or a cardboard box).
• Explain to the students that they will work in pairs to create something new from their objects instead of throwing them away. • Provide examples of what they can create (e.g. a bird feeder made from a plastic bottle or a pencil holder made from a cardboard box).
• Allow the students to work on their projects and provide assistance as needed.
Step 5: Conclusion (5 minutes)
• Ask the students to share what they have learned about recycling and its benefits.
• Encourage the students to continue recycling and reusing objects in their daily lives.
