Chinese astronauts did an open science lesson on October 12. They gave
the lessons from the Tiangong space station for students across China.
Before the lesson, the astronauts of the Shenzhou XIV team, Chen Dong,
Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe, showed people the living space and scientific
machines inside the Wentian lab (实验室). The lab became part of the Tiangong station in July.
In the open lesson, the astronauts did some experiments (实验) to show special physical phenomena (物理现象) inside the space station. Then they told us why these phenomena happened. They also introduced some plants in the lab.
Millions of primary and middle school students across China watched the live event. The activity is a part of China’s first out of-the-Earth lessons. In this way, the astronauts hope to make more people know about space science. It was also the first time for the Shenzhou XIV team to give a lesson.

A study in September has added excitement in the brain science area. In the study, volunteers had electrical stimulation (刺激) in their brains. The study found their memory and problem-solving abilities got better for at least a month. The stimulation was painless and could lead to future treatments (治疗) for memory. It can even help students with their future exams.
V olunteers in the study did better in both remembering words and working out memory-based problems. In the
test, they wore a cap and it was connected to electrical currents (电流). Wearing the cap twenty minutes a day was enough to help people remember words better. The volunteers could retell more words a month later.
