Some students have always been very efficient at schoolwork, among whom, Li, monitor of our class, is an example. He distinguishes himself as the most productive student in the class.
When asked why he is always so productive, Li responds that it is some good habits that benefit him greatly and enable him to be quite effective at schoolwork. Li always has a strictly followed plan, for he believes that efficiency depends on good organization. Besides, he makes full use of his time. He listens attentively and takes notes at class, keeping close pace with the teacher. After class, he not only finishes the homework but also makes sure that consolidation
work has been done. Moreover, he attaches great importance to critical thinking, with which he never accepts anything blindly.
From Li we can learn that a stude nt’s good performance and success are closely connected with his good habits. Good habits are very important. We may benefit from them or suffer from the absence of them.

W: No, but I’m looking up her number right now.

M: I was asked to pick up the guest speaker Ronaldo at the airport this afternoon. Do you know what he looks like?
W: Well, he’s in his 30s. He stands out. He is tall and thin, and he has a beard.

M: How much should I pay?
W: Let me see. The duck is $15, and the plate of pork is $10.
M: Here’s $30. Keep the change, please.
Text 6
M: Tomorrow will be Christmas Day. What are you going to do?
W: My friend is having a party on the roof of his house, and I will be there.
M: Cool. Will you take any presents with you?
W: Of course. I will take a box of chocolates with me.
M: Yeah, that’s good. Where is your friend’s home?
W: He lives near Xinghai Park.
M: Oh, great! You can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea there.
Text 7
W: We’ve got to move one of these days. This place is too far from the university. It takes me almost 40 minutes to get there every morning.
M: I agree with you. If we lived nearer to the school, you wouldn’t have to get up so early. Oh, I forgot to tell you… my friend Jack to ld me yesterday that Ms. Brown has a spare room. I wrote down her phone number on a piece of paper. Where is it now?
W: Have you tried looking in your pocket?
M: Yes, it’s here. I’ll call her right now.
Text 8
W: Is this your car?
M: Yes. Why are you asking?
W: You can’t park your car here. Don’t you see the “No Waiting” sign here?
M: Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t notice. I haven’t been here more than three minutes.
W: I’ll have to ask you to move your car at once; otherwise, you’ll be getting a parking tick et. M: Well, where should I park my car?
W: There’s a parking lot just around the corner.
M: Most likely, it’s full.
W: Well, anyway, you can’t stay here. You see, you are blocking the traffic. Can I see your driver’s license?
M: Sure. One moment. Here you are.
W: Thank you, sir. Now, you must move your car.
M: Very well, madam. I’m going.
Text 9
M: Hey, wake up! It’s 7 o’clock, time to go running!
W: Ugh, I’m too tired. Can’t we do it later?
M: No, I have to be at work by 8:30. My boss will kill me if I’m late —I showed up at nine yesterday, and he was really mad. Anyway, you promised to go running every day for the whole month, remember?
W: But I don’t have to be at work until 9:30. And I was out late with my friends last night.
M: I was there, remember? And a promise is a promise.
W: OK, OK —I’m up. Where are we going to run?
M: Same as always — around High Park.
W: Can we go somewhere else? How about Bridge Park? It’s nicer there —it’s by the river.
M: Well, that’s true. But it’s too far. Why don’t we just run along the river, then?
W: OK, fine.
M: It’s great living in Calgary. The air is so fresh and clean, and the skies are so clear most days.
It’s easy to live a healthy lifestyle here.
W: Yeah, you’re right.
Text 10
After an earthquake, all the newspapers reported many stories about some of the families who were in trouble. I thought this would be a good chance to teach my kids to help those who were less lucky. One Sunday, I said to my eight-year-old twins, Brett and Brad, and five-year-old Mega n, “We have so much, and these poor people now have nothing. We should share what we have with them.”
I filled a box with food and clothes. While I was doing this, I encouraged the boys to choose their toys and give some of their less favorite things. Megan watched quietly as the boys took out their old toys. Then she walked away. A few minutes later she came back with Lucy, her much-loved doll. “Oh, dear,” I said, “You don’t have to give Lucy. You love her so much.” Megan said, “Lucy makes me happy, Daddy.Maybe she’ll make another little girl happy, too.”
I looked at Megan for a long moment. She taught me a lesson: it’s easy to give something that we don’t want anymore, but harder to give what we love, isn’t it?。
