八年级介绍中国传统人物英语作文
My Favorite Traditional Chinese Figures
Hi everyone! For my essay, I want to talk about some of my favorite traditional Chinese figures from history. China has such a rich culture and history spanning thousands of years, so there are tons of fascinating people to learn about. I'll focus on three that I find particularly interesting and inspiring.
The first is Confucius, probably the most famous Chinese philosopher of all time. Confucius lived over 2,500 years ago during the Zhou Dynasty. Even though he came from a poor family, he became a hugely influential teacher and thinker. His philosophy, called Confucianism, emphasizes ideas like respect for elders, education, kindness, and proper behavior. Confucius travelled around ancient China with his students, sharing his wisdom about how people should act with virtue, humanity and justice.
One of Confucius's most famous sayings is, "What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others." This teaches the Golden Rule of treating others how you want to be treated yourself. Even though Confucianism is very old, I think Confucius's teachings about being a good person still make a lot
of sense today. He showed that wisdom and moral character are far more important than money or status.
My next favorite figure is Mulan, the legendary woman warrior. The story of Mulan is first found in an ancient folk song from the Northern Wei dynasty around 1,500 years ago. In the tale, the brave young Mulan disguises herself as a man to take her elderly father's place in the emperor's army. She fought for 12 years and became a highly decorated war hero before finally returning home. When she met the emperor, he wanted to give her a high rank as a reward. But Mulan just wanted to reunite with her family.
I love Mulan's story because it shows that women can be just as courageous and capable as men, even thousands of years ago. She put aside society's expectations for women at the time and did what was right to protect her family and serve her country with honor. Mulan is an inspiring example of bravery, filial piety, and devotion.
Finally, I have to mention the iconic Monkey King, the classic trickster character from the 16th century novel Journey to the West. The Monkey King was born from a stone egg on a mountain of flowers and fruit. He lucked into incredible supernatural powers through dedicated practice of Taoism and
Buddhism. With his hilarious personality and mastery of epic magic skills, he aids the monk Xuanzang on a long pilgrimage to India.
The Monkey King gets into all kinds of crazy misadventures and fights with powerful demons, gods, and spirits. He wields a legendary staff that can grow incredibly long and heavy. Despite being arrogant and constantly stirring up trouble at first, the Monkey King learns to control his ego and use his might for good. I find him super entertaining to read about - he feels like an ancient Chinese version of a modern superhero!
Those are three of my favorite traditional Chinese figures that I've learned about so far. Confucius was a wise teacher promoting virtue and proper conduct. Mulan was a brave woman warrior defying gender roles. And the mischievous but powerful Monkey King goes on an amazing fantasy journey through the wild spiritual world.
Even though they're all very different people from different eras, I think they each represent positive values from Chinese culture that still really matter today, like ethics, courage, and having an adventurous spirit. Getting to learn their stories gives me a greater appreciation for the long, rich history and enduring philosophies of China. I look forward to discovering more
incredible figures and tales as I keep exploring this fascinating civilization.。
