What I Love About School
School is so much fun! There are many things that make me happy to go every day. What I love the most is seeing my friends. We get to play together at recess and sit together at lunch. Sharing snacks and telling jokes is the best part of our day.

Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm in 5th grade. I just learned about something called noun clauses in my English class and I thought it was really cool! My teacher said that understanding noun clauses will help me a lot when I get to high school and have to write more complicated essays.
So what exactly is a noun clause? Well, it's a special kind of sentence that can act as a noun. It sounds kind of weird at first, doesn't it? A sentence being a noun? Let me give you an example to help explain.
One of the noun clause structures we learned is "What + clause." Like if I said "What my sister said made me laugh." In that sentence, "What my sister said" is the noun clause and it's the subject of the main part of the sentence "made me laugh." The noun clause is taking the place of a noun!
Another common noun clause starts with "That." Like "That he won the race was a huge surprise." Again, "That he won the race" is the noun clause acting as the subject of the main sentence. Pretty neat, right?
