Itslawmakers gave preliminary approval last week to a law that would make it a crimeto employ ultra-thin models on runaways. The parliament also agreed to ban websites that“ incite excessive thinness” by promoting extreme dieting.Suchmeasures have a couple of uplifting motives. They suggest beauty shouldnot be defined by looks that end up impinging on health. That ’ s a start. And the ban on ultra-thin models seems to go beyond protecting models from starving themselves to death-as some have done. It tells the fashion industry that it musttake responsibility for the signal it sends women, especially teenage girls, about thesocial tape-measure they must use to determine their individual worth. The bans, if fully enforced, would suggest to women (and many men) that theyshould not let others be arbiters of their beauty. And perhaps faintly, they hint thatpeople should look to intangible qualities like character and intellect rather thandieting their way to size zero or wasp-waist physiques. The French measures, however, rely too much on severe punishment to changea culture that still regards beauty as skin-deep-and bone-showing. Under the law, using a fashion model that does not meet a government-defined index of body mass could result in a $85,000 fine and six months in prison. The fashion industry knows it has an inherent problem in focusing on materialadornment and idealized body types. In Denmark, the United States, and a few other countries,it is trying to set voluntary standards for models and fashion images that rely more on peer pressure for enforcement. In contrast to France’s actions, Denmark’s fashion industry agreed last monthon rules and sanctions regarding the age, health, and other characteristics of models. The newly revised Danish Fashion Ethical Charter clearly states:“ We are aware of and take responsibility for the impact the fashion industry has on bodyideals, especially on young people.” The charter’s main tool of enforcement is todeny access for designers and modeling agencies to Copenhagen Fashion Week (CFW),which is run by the Danish Fashion Institute. But in general it relies on a name-and-shame method of compliance.Relying on ethical persuasion rather than law to address the misuse of bodyideals may be the best step. Even better would be to help elevate notions of beautybeyond the material standards of a particular industry.21.According to the first paragraph, what would happen in France?[A]New runways would be constructed.[B]Physical beauty would be redefined.[C]Websites about dieting would thrive.[D]The fashion industry would decline.22. The phrase“ impinging on” (Line2, Para.2) is closest in meaning to[A]heightening the value of.[B]indicating the state of.[C]losing faith in.[D]doing harm to.23.Which of the following is true of the fashion industry?[A]New standards are being set in Denmark.[B]The French measures have already failed.[C]Models are no longer under peer pressure.[D]Its inherent problems are getting worse.24.A designer is most likely to be rejected by CFW for[A]pursuing perfect physical conditions.[B]caring too much about models’ character.[C]showing little concern for health factors.[D]setting a high age threshold for models.25. Which of the following may be the best title of the text?[A]A Challenge to the Fashion Industry’s Body Ideals[B]A Dilemma for the Starving Models in France[C]Just Another Round of Struggle for Beauty[D]The Great Threats to the Fashion IndustryText 2For the first time in history more people live in towns than in the country. In Britain this has had a curious result. While polls show Britons rate“ the countryside” alongside the royal family,Shakespeare and the National Health Service(NHS)as what makes them proudest of their country, this has limited political support.A century ago Octavia Hill launched the National Trust not to rescue stylish houses but to save“ the beauty of natural places for everyone forever.” It was specifically to provide city dwellers with spaces for leisure where they could experience “a refreshing air. ” Hill ’s pressures later led to the creation of nationalparks and green belts. They don ’ t make countryside any more, and every year concrete consumes more of it. It needs constant guardianship. At the next election none of the big parties seem likely to endorse this sentiment. The Conservatives’ planning reform explicitly gives rural development priority over conservation, even authorizing“ off-plan” building where local people might object. The concept of sustainable development has been defined as profitable. Labour likewise wants to discontinue local planning where councils oppose development. The Liberal Democrats are silent. Only Ukip, sensing its chance, hassided with those pleading for a more considered approach to using green land. ItsCampaign to Protect Rural England struck terror into many local Conservativeparties. The sensible place to build new houses, factories and offices is where people are,in cities and towns where infrastructure is in place. The London agentsStirlingAckroyd recently identified enough sites for half a million houses in theLondon area alone, with no intrusion on green belt. What is true of London is eventruer of the provinces. The idea that“ housing crisis” equals“ concreted meadows” is pure lobby talk. The issue is not the need for more houses but, as always, where to put them. Underlobby pressure, George Osborne favours rural new-build against urban renovationand renewal. He favours out-of-town shopping sites against high streets. This is nota free market but a biased one. Rural towns and villages have grown and will alwaysgrow. They do so best where building sticks to their edges and respects theircharacter. We do not ruin urban conservation areas. Why ruin rural ones?Development should be planned, not let rip. After the Netherlands,Britain is Europe ’s most crowded country. Half a century of town and country planning hasenabled it to retain an enviable rural coherence, while still permitting low-densityurban living. There is no d oubt of the alternative—the corrupted landscapes of southern Portugal, Spain or Ireland. Avoiding this rather than promoting it shouldunite the left and right of the political spectrum.26. Britain’ s public sentiment about the countryside____[A]didn’ tstart till the Shakespearean age.[B]has brought much benefit to the NHS.[C]is fully backed by the royal family.[D]is not well reflected in politics.27. According to Paragraph2,the achievements of the National Trust are now being____[A]gradually destroyed.[B]effectively reinforced.[C]largely overshadowed.[D]properly protected.28.Which of the following can be inferred from Paragraph 3?[A]Labour is under attack for opposing development.[B]The Conservatives may abandon“ off-plan” building.[C]The Liberal Democrats are losing political influence.[D]Ukip may gain from its support for rural conservation.29. The author holds that George Osborne’ s preference____[A]highlights his firm stand against lobby pressure.[B]shows his disregard for the character of rural areas.[C]stresses the necessity of easing the housing crisis.[D]reveals a strong prejudice against urban areas.30. In the last paragraph, the author shows his appreciation of____[A]the size of population in Britain.[B]the political life in today’ s Britain.[C]the enviable urban lifestyle in Britain.[D]the town-and-country planning in Britain.Text 3“ There is one and only one social responsibility of business,” wrote Milton Friedman,a Nobel prize-winning economist“ That is, to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits.”But even if you accept Fiedman ’ s premise and regard corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies as awaste of shareholders money, things may not be absolutely clear-cut.New researchsuggests that CSR may create monetary value for companies–at least when theyare prosecuted for corruption. The largest firms is America and Britain together spend more than $15 billion ayear on CSR , according to an estimate by EPG,a consulting firm ,This could addvalue to their businesses in three ways.First, consumers may take CSR spending as a“signal” that a company’s products are of high quality.Second, customers may bewilling to buy a company’ s products as an indirect way to donate to the good causes is helps. And third, through a more diffuse“ halo effect,” whereby its gooddeeds earn it greater consideration from consumers and others.Previous studies on CSR have had trouble differentiating these effects becauseconsumers can be affected by all three. A recent study attempts to separate themby looking at bribery prosecutions under America’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). It argues that since prosecutors do not consume a company's products aspart of their investigations, they could be influenced only by the halo effect. The study found that, among prosecuted firms, those with the most comprehensiveCSR programmes tendedto getmore lenient penalties. Their analysisruled out the possibility that it was firms' political influence, rather than their CSRstand, that accounted for the leniency: Companies that contributed more to politicalcampaigns did not receive lower fines. In all, the study concludes that whereas prosecutors should only evaluate a case based on its merits, they do seen to influenced by a company ’s record in CSR. "We estimate that either eliminating a substantial labour-rights concern, such as child labour, or increasing corporate giving by about 20% results in fines that generally are 40% lower than the typical punishment for bribing foreign officials,"says one researcher.Researchers admit that their study does not answer the question of how muchbusinesses ought to spend on CSR. Nor does it reveal how much companies arebanking on the halo effect, rather than the other possible benefits, when they decide their do-gooding policies. But at least have demonstrated that whencompanies get into trouble with the law, evidence of good character can winthem a less costly punishment.31. The author views Milton Friedman’ s statement about CSR with[A]tolerance[B]skepticism[C]uncertainty[D]approval32. According to Paragraph 2, CSR helps a company[Al winning trust from consumers.[B]guarding it against malpractices.[C]protecting it from being defamed.[D]raising the quality of its products.33.Theexpression "more lenient" (Line 2, Para. 4)is closestin meaning to [Al more effective.[B]less controversial.[C]less severe.[D]more lasting.34.When prosecutors evaluate a case, a company's CSR record[Al has an impact on their decision.[B] comes across as reliable evidence.[C]increases the chance of being penalized.[D] constitutes part of the investigation.35.Which of the following is true of CSR, according to the last paragraph ?[Al Its negative effects on businesses are often overlooked.[B]Thenecessaryamount of companies'spending on it is unknown.[C]Companies' financial capacityforithasbeenoverestimated.[D]Ithasbroughtmuchbenefittothebankingindustry.Text 4There will eventually come a day when The New York Times cases to publishstories on newsprint.Exactly when that day will be is a matter of debate.“Sometime in the future“ the paper’ s publisher said back in 2010.’ s plenty of Nostalgia for ink on paper and the rustle of pages aside ,thereincentive to ditch print .The infrastructure required to make a physical newspapers-printing presses .delivery truck -isn’t just expensive ;it’s excessive at a time when online-only competition don’t have the same set financial constraints . Readers are migrating away from print away,And although print ad sales still dwarf their onlineand mobile counterparts revenue from print is still declining.Overhead may be high and circulation lowe ,but rushing to eliminate its printeditor would be a mistake ,says BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti.Peretti says the Times shouldn't waste time getting of the print business, only ifthey go about doing it the right away“ Figuring out a way to accelerate that transition would make sense for them“ he said,“ but if you discontinue it, you'regoing to have your most loyal customers really upset with you."Sometimes that's worth making a change anyway". Peretti gives example of Netflixdiscontinuing its DVD-mailing service to focus on streaming."It was seen as a blunder." he said. The move turned out to be foresighted. And if Peretti were in charge at the times? "l wouldn't pick year to end print."he said.“ I would raise andmake it into more of a legacy product.”The most loyal costumer would still gel the product they favor. the idea goes, andthey ’ d feel like they were helping sustain the quality of something they believe in."So if you're overpaying for print, you could feel like you were helping," peretti said."Then increase it at rate each year and essentially try to generate additionalrevenue." In other words, if you're going to print product, make it for the peoplewho are already obsessed with it. Which may be what the Times is doing already.Getting the print edition seven days a week costs nearly $500 a year—more thantwice as much as a digital-only subscription."It's a really hard thing to do and it's a tremendous luxury that BuzzFeed doesn'thave a legacy business," Peretti remarked. "But we're going to have questions likethat where we have things we're d oing that don't make sense when t he market.Change and the world changes. In those situations, it's better to be moreaggressive than less aggressive."36.The New York Times is considering ending its print edition partly due[A]the high cost of operation.[B]the pressure form its investors.[C]the complaints form its readers[D]the increasing online ad asles.37.Peretti suggests that,in face of the present situation, the Times should[A]seek new sources of readership.[B]end the print edition for goog.[C]aim for efficitent management.[D]make strategic adiustments.38.It can inferred form Paragraphs 5 and 6 that a“ legacy product”[A]helps restore the glory of former times.[B]is meant for the most loyal customers.[C]will have the cost of printing reduced.[D]expands the popularity of the paper39.Peretti believes that,in a changing world,[A]legacy businesses are becoming outdated[B]cautiousness facilitates problem-solving.[C]aggressiveness better meets challenges.[D]traditional luxuries can stay unaffected.40.Which of the following would be the best title of the text?[A]Shift to Online Newspapers All at Once[B]Cherish the Newspapers Still in Your Hand[C]Make Your Print Newspaper a Luxury Good[D]Keep Your Newspapers Forever in FashionPart BDirections:Reading the following text and answer the questions by choosing the most suitablesubheading from the list A — G for each of the numbered paragraphs(41—45) ,There are two extraSubheadings,Mark your answers on the ANSWER SHEET.(10points)[A]Create a new image of yourself[B]Have confidence in yourself[C]Decide if the time is right[D]Understand the context[E]Work with professionals[F]Mark it efficient[G]Know your goalsNo matter how formal orinformal theworkenvironment, the way you present yourself has an impact. This isespecially truein first impressions.According to researchfrom PrincetonUniversity, people assessyour competence,Trustworthiness, and likeability in just a tenth of a second, solelybased ontheway you look. The different between today’sworkplace and the“ dress for success”era is that the range of optionsis so muchbroader. Normshaveevolvedandfragmented. In somesettings, red sneakers or dress T— shirts can conveystatus;inother not somuch. Plus, whatever image we present is magnified by social — media services likeLinkedIn.Chances are, your headshots are seen much more often now than adecadeor two lennials,it seems, face the paradox of being the least formal generation yet the most conscious of style and personal branding. It can beconfusing. So how do we navigate this? How do we know when to invest in anupgrade?Andwhat ’ s the best way to pull off one that enhances our goals? Here are some tips:41.As an executive coach,I ’ve seen image upgrades be particularlyhelpfulduring transitions— when looking for a new job ,stepping into a new or morepublic role ,or changing work environments. If you in a period of change’ re or just feeling stuck and in a rut, now may be a good time. Ifyou ’re not sure, ask forhonest feedback from trusted friends, colleagues and professionals .Look for cuesabout how others perceive you. Maybe there’ s no need for an upgrade and that’s OK.42Get clear on what impact you’ re hoping to have. Are you looking to refresh yourimage or pivot it? For one person, the goal may be to be taken more seriously andenhance their professional image. For another, it may be to be perceived as moreapproachable, or more modern and stylish. For someone moving from finance toadvertising, maybe they want to look ore“ SoHo.” (It’s OK to use characterizations like that.)43Look at your work environment like an anthropologist. What are the norms of your environment? What conveys status? Who are your most important audience? How do the people you respect and look up to prevent themselves? The better youunderstand the cultural context, the more control you can have over your impact.44Enlist the support of professionals and share with them your goals and context.Hire a personal stylist, or use the free styling service of a store like Crew. Try a hairstylist instead of a barber. Work with a professional photographer instead of yourspouse of friend. It’ s not as expensive as you might think.45The point of a style upgrade isn’ t to become more vain or to spend more time discussing over what to wear. Instead, use it as an opportunity to reduce decisionfatigue. Pick a standard work uniform or a few go-to opinions. Buy all your clothesonce with a stylist instead of shopping alone, one article of clothing a time.Part CDirections:Read the following text carefully and then translate the underlined segments intoChinese. Your translation should be written neatly on the ANSWER SHEET. (10 points)Mental health is our birthright. (46) We don’ t have to learn how to be mentallyhealthy; it is built into us in the same way that our bodies know how to heal a cut ormend a broken bone. Mental health can't be learned, only reawakened. It is like theimmune system of the body, which under stress or through lack of nutrition or exercise can be weakened, but which never leaves us. When we don't understandthe value of mental health and we don't know how to gain access to it, mentalhealth will remain hidden from us.(47)Our mental health doesn ’ t really go anywhere; like the sun behind a cloud. it can be temporarily hidden from view, but itis fully capable of being restored in an instant.Mental health is the seed that contains self-esteem—confidence in ourselvesand an ability to trust in our common sense. It allows us to have perspective on ourlives — the ability to not take ourselves too seriously, to laugh at ourselves, to seethe bigger picture, and to see that things will work out. It's a form of innate or unlearned optimism. (48) Mental health allows us to view others with sympathy ifthey are having troubles with kindness if they are in pain and with unconditionallove no matter who they are. Mental health is the source of creativity for solvingproblems, resolving conflict, making our surroundings more beautiful, managing our home life, or coming up with a creative business idea or invention to make ourlives easier. It gives us patience for ourselves and toward others as well as patiencewhile driving, catching a fish, working on our car. or raising a child. It allows us tosee the beauty that surrounds us each moment in nature, in culture, in the flow ofour daily lives.(49)Although mental health is the cure-all for living our lives,it is perfectly ordinary as you will see that it has been there to direct you through all your difficultdecisions. It has been available even in the most mundane of life situations to showyou right from wrong, good from bad, friend from foe.Mental health has commonly been called conscience, instinct, wisdom, common sense, or the innervoice. We think of it simply as a healthy and helpful flow of intelligent thought. (50)As you will come to see, knowing that mental health is always available and knowing to trust it allow us to slow down to the moment and live life happily.PartA52.Directions:Suppose you are a librarian in your university. AIt does not have to be January 1st to give yourself a chance to make the most out ofyour day. Every day is a new day and a fresh start to learn, grow, develop your strengths, free yourself from past regrets or hurts, and move forward older and wiser. Every day gives you a chance to reinvent (重新审视) yourself. It is never too late to change things that arenotworking in your life. Each day is a new beginning and a piece of blank paper. How would you like to create your day? What would you like to paint on it? If you wake up in a negative mind, you are more likely to paint a dark picture throughout the day, and your picture will not show hope, happiness and joy.If you take each day to think actively, and have a positive intention (意图;目的)for how you would like to create your day, how would your life be different? What can daily positive intentions do for you? Every day you will give yourself the gift of an“attitude of gratitude (感恩)”.Each day is a chance to look at things in a different way. You can experience each day in the beauty of the world —and the beauty of you who are in it! You find yourself changing from “I can't” to “I can”. With a focus on positive intentions, you feel you are full of power and more like a “winner” than a “loser”.You pay more attention to the present, and will be more likely to live fully inthe present each moment of each day. After all, the past is a great place to visit, but you don't want to live there! So how about starting each day taking a moment to think of a positive intention for the day? 1.The first paragraph mainly tells us ________.A. learning is helpful in reinventing ourselvesB. January 1st is the most important dayC. we should make every day a new startD. we needn't change ourselves at all2.If you have daily positive intentions, you will ________.A. have a busy lifeB. get a positive resultC. get gifts from othersD. be a complete loser3.From the passage we can learn that ________.A. positive intentions for each day are of great helpB. think actively and you will be a winner, not a loserC. the present is not where you should live for everD. past regrets or hurts can make you older and wiserBEveryone wants to know the secrets of a long and healthy life. Here are some discoveries from health experts. Many studies looking into the lives of centenarians(百岁老人) look at what they eat. Many people who live into their hundreds live in the Mediterranean (地中海), so their diet, which is high in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and healthy fats like olive oil, gets a lot of attention. The diet has been linked to ahealthier older age, lower risk for heart disease, and even protection against memory loss.Education is related to a longer life. A 2012 report from the CDC‟s National Center for Health Statistics found that people with a bachelor‟s degree or higher live about ni ne years longer than people who don‟t graduate high school. James Smith, a health economist at the RAND Corporation, is also a supporter of the argument for staying in school for better life expectancy. His findings show education should be an even bigger factor than race and income. Educated people are more likely to land better jobs, plan for their future, and make healthier lifestyle choices.Being a hard worker doesn‟t necessarily mean job-stress will harm you. The Longevity (长寿)Study found that plenty of hard workers lived long lives. “Skeptics(怀疑者) may wonder if hard workers really are enjoying life.” the authors write, “We found that productive, hardworking people (even in old age) are not stressed or miserable, but tend to be happier, healthier, and more socially connected than their less productive peers.”Having a strong social group is associated with a longer life. We often turn to friends and family for support, and taking care of the people that matter to us may help us take better care of ourselves, some evidence shows. Some research even suggests that immune(免疫) function isimproved when we are around our friends, and that they help with stress management.Research shows that sitting for long period of time put people at risk for shorter lifespans and other health risks. A 2011 study found that each hour people spent sitting down and watching TV after age 25 was linked to 22 minutes from their overall life expectancy.4. The second paragraph mainly tells us that_______.A. Diet matters a lot to a long lifeB. People attach great importance to a long lifeC. Fruits and vegetables benefit healthD. Life styles play a role in health5. According to James Smith, which makes the greatest difference to a long life?A. RaceB. IncomeC. EducationD. Diet6. From the fourth paragraph, we know_____.A. Hard workers suffer from greater stressB. Less productive workers tend to be happier and healthierC. Hard workers are likely to enjoy a longer lifeD. Nobody doubts that hard workers really are enjoying life7. The passage is mainly about ________.A. diet and healthB. some discoveries on healthC. the value of good educationD. the secret of a happy lifeCSri Lanka is known as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”, and it is easy to see why. This little country never fails to please visitors.ArriveThe national airline is Sri Lankan Airlines, which flies from Colombo to London and a couple of other European cities. The country‟s main airport is Colombo Bandaranaike, located 29km north of the capital city. Why now?The best time to visit Sri Lanka‟s southern beaches is from November to April. So by going early in the season, you‟ll get the best weather. Also in November, Deepavali, known as “Diwali” or the “Festival of Lights”, is Sri Lanka‟s main religiousf estival, celebrated throughout the country. SeeThere is plenty to see in Sri Lanka. The ancient capital cities of Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura are worth seeing, and so are many outstanding ruins. Other must-sees are the rock fortress (要塞) of Sigiriya, tow ering over the jungle as far as the eye can see, and Dambulla‟s cave temple, the country‟s largest and best preserved. We learn from the passage that Sri Lanka .A. is in the Pacific OceanB. has only flights to LondonC. is the world‟s largest producer of teaD.is famo us for its excellent food11. The author wrote the article in order to .A. introduce the picturesque(如画的)landscape of Sri Lanka.B. let readers know what is famous for in Sri Lanka.C. make Sri Lanka well known throughout the world.D. let people get more travel information about Sri Lanka.DIf we are to help students develop reading skills in a foreign language, it is important to understand what is involved in the reading process itself. If we have a clear idea of how “good readers” read, either in their own or a foreign language, this will enable us to decide whether particular reading techniques are likely to help learners or not.In considering the reading process, it is important to distinguish(区别)between two quite separate activities reading for meaning (or “silent reading”) and reading aloud. Reading for meaning is the activity we normally engage in(从事于/参加)when we read books, newspapers, road signs, etc.; it is what you are doing as you read this text. It involves looking at sentences and understanding the message they convey, in other words “making sense” of a written text. It doesn‟tnormally involve saying the words we read, not even silently inside our heads.Reading aloud is a completely different activity; its purpose is not just to understand a text but to convey the information to someone else. It is not an activity we engage in very often outside the classroom; common examples are reading out parts of a newspaper article to a friend, or reading a notice to other people who can‟t see it. Obviously, reading aloud involves looking at a text, understanding it and also saying it. Because our attention is divided between reading and speaking, it is a much more difficult activity than reading silently; we often stumble and make mistakes when reading aloud in our own language, and reading aloud in a foreign language is even more difficult. When we read for meaning, we do not need to read every letter or every word, nor even every word in each sentence. This is because, if the text makes sense, we can guess much of what it says as we read it.12. The passage is mainly about ____________.A. reading skillsB. reading processesC. silent readingD. reading aloud13. The underlined word “stumble” in Paragraph 3 means ____________.A. step over something and fallB. walk with heavy movementsC. repeat something or pause for too long.D. speak in a fluent and confident way14. We can infer from the passage that the author will continue to ____________.A. discuss in detail how to read aloudB. introduce some more reading activitiesC. tell how good readers read in their own languageD. explain why we needn‟t say the words when reading for meaning15. We can conclude that ____________.A. reading silently is easier than reading aloudB. to understand a sentence, you have to read all the words in itC. silent reading involves looking at a text and saying the words silently to yourselfD. there‟s no difference between reading in one‟s own language and in a foreign one第二节阅读填空 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该选项涂黑。

Its lawmakers gave preliminary approval last week toalaw that would make it a crime to employ ultra-thin models on runways. The parliament also agreed to ban websites that”incite excessive thinness”by promoting extreme dieting.Such measures have a couple of uplifting motives. They suggest beauty should not be defined by looks that end up with impinging on health. That's a start. And the ban on ultra-thin models seems to go beyond protecting models from starring themselves to health-as some have done.It tells the fashion industry that it move take responsibility for the signal it sends women, especially teenage girls, about the social tape -measure they must use to determine their individual worth. The bans,if fully enforced, would suggest to woman(and many men )that they should not let others be orbiters of their beauty. And perhaps faintly, they hint that people should look to intangible qualities like character and intellect rather than dieting their way to sine zero or wasp-waist physiques. The French measures, however, rely too much on severe punishment to change a culture that still regards beauty as skin-deep-and bone-showing. Under the law, using a fashion model that does not meet a government-defined index of body mess could result in a $85,000 fine and six months in prison. The fashion industry knows it has an inherent problem in focusing on material adornment and idealized body types. In Denmark, the United States, and a fewother countries,it is trying to set voluntary standard for models and fashion images there rely more on pear pressure for enforcement. In contrast to France's actions,Denmark's fashion industry agreed last month on rules and sanctions regarding age, health, and other characteristics of models. The newly revised Danish Fashion Ethical charter clearly states, we are aware of and take responsibility for the impact the fashion industry has on body ideals, especially on young people. The charter's main toll of enforcement is to deny access for designers and modeling agencies to Copenhagen. Fashion week, which is men by the Danish Fashion Institute. But in general it relies on a name-and -shame method of compliance.Relying on ethical persuasion rather than law to address the misuse of body ideals may be the best step.Even better would be to helpelevate notions of beauty beyond the material standards of a particular industry.21. According to the first paragraph, what would happen in France?[A] Physical beauty would be redefined[B] New runways would be constructed[C] Websites about dieting would thrive[D] The fashion industry would decline【答案】A【解析】推断题。

not.故选B.【点评】做这种题时,首先要根据语境及上下文确定考察范围﹣﹣连词;其次根据句意确定连词;再次根据选项中的连词意思即可确定答案.9.(1分)The model Sydney Opera House looks _____________ the real one in Australia.()A.as wonderful as B.as wonderfully asC.so since he lost himself in computer games.()A.fell B.has fallen C.was D.has been【分析】迈克过去是一个优等生,但是自从他在电脑游戏中迷失自己,他就落后了.【解答】答案:D首先此句是含时间状语从句的主从复合句.根据时间状语从句since he lost himself in computer games可知,此句表达"过去的动作对现在造成的影响",所以主句要用现在完成时态;现在完成时态的结构为have/has+动词的过去分词.此处还要要把瞬间动作改为持续动作,所以应该用be behind,故选D.【点评】判断动词的时态,要结合句子的语境及其引导词去判断动词存在的状态.11.(1分)﹣Hobo,can I eat the hamburger?﹣Sure,if the dishes .()A.wash B.are washedC.will wash D.will be washed【分析】﹣﹣Hobo,我可以吃汉堡吗?﹣﹣当然可以,如果盘子洗了的话.【解答】答案:B. 判断语态的关键则是观察主语是谓语动词的执行者还是承受者.12.(1分)﹣What time shall we leave for the airport?﹣It's foggy today.I'm not sure __________ be closed soon.Let's go now.()A.whether the highway willB.whether will the highwayC.when the highway willD.when will the highway【分析】﹣﹣我们什么时间出发去机场?﹣﹣今天多雾. 要记住各种时态和语态的结构形式.13.(1分)﹣I am not allowed to bring my mobile phone to school.﹣_______.Our teacher says With the development of our country, more and more people choose to travel to tourist attractions during the holidays. I think it’s important for us to know how to behave well when going out. Here is some of my advice.
First, we shouldn’t carve characters or spit everywhere. Second, don’t push in before others if there are a lot of people waiting in line. In my opinion, it’s polite of us to respect local customs when we are in a strange place. If you meet some problems, ask the guide for help before you act. Third, try to say “please” and “thank you” as often as possible. Last but not the least, remember to drop rubbish into the dustbin. We should keep the place clean and tidy.
If everyone can behave politely in public, we can make the world a better place for us to live.
