二．要点解析。

1. Let’s talk about trees and the (reason) why we need them .
reason 意为原因，理由，常与介词for 连用，后接名词或动名词表示“······的原因”。

其后可接why 引导的定语从句和that 引导的从句。

2. Donu ts don’t grow on trees ! 面包圈不是生长在树上的！
句子中的on trees 意思是，它还可表示为。

辨析in the tree on the tree , 例句：Look ! A monkey is playing .
There are many apples .
3. Then the wind and water don’t carry the soil away .此句意为
carry away 是一个“动词+副词”短语，意思是带走，与take away 同义。

这种短语用名词作宾语时，位置可前可后，若用代词作宾语，代词必须放在副词前。

完成下列句子：
Please help me carry the box away . = This box is heavy, please help me carry it away .
4. All plant’s take energy from the sun and make it into food .所有的植物都从太阳获取能量，并且把它制成食物。

“make A into B”意为“把A制成B”,相当于make B out of A” ,make 后接原材料，into 后接产品。
