Teaching key points:
⑴Ss are able to use the Past Continuous Tense correctly.
⑵Ss learn some important phrases and sentences of Section A and learn how to
make good use of them.
Teaching difficult point:
Ss are able to make a new dialogue of 2a in pairs, then act it out.

Step1.Review and lead in:
1. The teacher and Ss enjoy the song about the Present Continuous Tense.
2.Show Ss some pictures and help them review the present continuous tense and
some useful phrases.
3.Lead to the new lesson by asking them “What are we doing now?”
Ss: “We are having an English lesson now.”
T: How to rewrite the sentence I change the time “now” into “at this time yesterday”

(Ss sum up the structure of the Past Continuous Tense according to the above sentences by themselves)
S tep2. Presentation
1. Ss get familiar with the sentenc e pattern transformation about the Past Continuous tense.
2. Show Ss pictures in 2a and let students ask and answer in pairs according to the
pictures in 2a, and then several pairs are invited to act it out. Finish 2a.
3. Ss listen to the tape of 1a, and answer t he following questions:
Q1: What is Jane doing now?
Q2: What was Jane doing at this time yesterday?
4. Check the answers, and then explain some useful expressions.
Step3.Consolidation
1.Ss can read a fter the tape of 1a and im itate the pronunciation and intonation. 2.Ss practice 1a in roles, and then several pairs are invited to act it out in groups of three.
Step4. Practice
Show Ss pictures in 1b and let students ask and answer in pairs according to the pictures in 1b,and then several pairs are invited to act it out. Finish 1b.
Step5. Summary and Homework
