You soon become lost in some books or others, and usually it is only much later that you realize you have spent too much time there and must get away to keep some forgotten work.

It will be impossible to lose the key, and a housebreaker(盗贼) will have to tamper (拨弄) with the lock or with the window.
The computer will be more than a fireman-policeman-servant. It w ill be an entertainer, and most of your entertainment will come right into your house. It does now, of course, but by 2040 “entertainment” will mean much more. For one thing, you will be able to take part actively, rather than just watching.

The ridge (隆起)structure on a person’s fingers docs not change with growth and is not affected by surface injuries. Burns, cuts and other damage to the outer part of the skin will be replaced in time by new one, which bears a reproduction of the original pattern. 37 Some criminals make use of this fact to remove their own finger-prints but this is a dangerous and rare step to take.
Finger-pr ints can be made very easily with printer’s ink. They can be recorded easily. 38 Because of these simplicity and economy of this system, finger-prints have often been used as a method of solving criminal case. A suspected(被怀疑的) man may deny a charge but this may be useless. 39 When a suspect leaves finger-prints behind at the scene of a crime, they are difficult to detect with the naked eye. 40 Some of the marks found are incomplete but identification is possible if a print of a quarter of an inch square can be got.
A. Special techniques are used to “develop” them.
B. A fingerprint is an impression of the friction ridges of all part of the finger.
C. It is only w hen the inner skin is injured that the arrangement will be destroyed.

Dear Peter,
I’m glad to receive your letter, saying you are hoping to be a volunteer in 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Beijing has become the first city to host both Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and it together with Zhangjiakou is the host of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. I’d like to give you two suggestions on how to learn Chinese well. First, speak a little Chinese every day. The absolute best way to learn any new language
is just to speak it. Second, attend a Chinese class or discussion group. After all, language learning settings are of great importance.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to write to me.
Yours Li Hua。
