Culture differences are a fascinating and complex topic. As someone who has lived in both the Western and Eastern worlds, I have experienced firsthand just how different cultures can be. One major difference is the way people communicate. In the West, people tend to be more direct and straightforward in their communication, while in the East, people often use indirect and subtle language to convey
their meaning.
For example, in the West, if someone is unhappy with something you've done, they may tell you straight up, "I
don't like what you did." In the East, however, they may
say something like, "It's a little bit difficult for me to understand what you were trying to do there." This can be confusing for Westerners who are used to more direct communication, but it's important to understand that in the East, saving face and avoiding confrontation are highly
valued.
Another major difference is the way people view time.
In the West, punctuality is highly valued and being late is considered rude. In the East, however, there is more of a relaxed attitude towards time and being late is often seen as acceptable. This can lead to misunderstandings and frustration, especially in a business setting where punctuality is crucial.
