Step 1 Revision. Retell the test according to the pictures and key wards.
Step 2 Explanation
1. Hepburn’s beauty and cha rm caught the writer’s attention.
短语 catch one’ attention 意思是“引起某人的注意”。

2. As a child, she loved dancing and dreamt of becoming a successful ballet
dancer.dream of doing sth. 梦想做某事
3. Colette insisted that Hepburn was the perfect girl for the lead role in Gigi,
a play based upon her novel , alt hough Hepburn had never played any major role
before.
句中insist 意思是“坚持认为”，后面可以接that引导的宾语从句。

be based on/upon sth. 以……为基础；以……为根据
4. Hepburn was chosen to play the lead role of a young princess in the Hollywood
film Roman Holiday.
play the lead role of …in…在…中扮演…的主要角色
5. Hepburn’s achievements went beyond the film industry.
句中的go beyond 意思是“超出，除……之外”。

6. On 20 January 1993, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
短语pass away 是委婉语，表示“去世”。
